we report about the fabrication of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) ink-jet printing a hole-transporting polymer (PF6, poly(9,9-dihexyl-9H-fluorene-2,7-diyl)) on flexible substrate (PET) and performing the other layers through vacuum thermal evaporation. The aim of the work is to employ the ink-jet printing (IJP) technology, familiar as a method for printing on paper, in optoelectronic applications and to determine how the deposition method affects the functional material film properties and hence the ultimate device performances. In this line of work, ink-jet printed polymer films are compared to same spin-coated polymer from the electro-optical point of view: both prepared materials are adopted as HTLs of electroluminescent devices. All manufactured OLEDs are characterized and their behaviours are investigated and analyzed with theoretical models. The results show differences in current density and optical behaviours between the devices fabricated by means of the above mentioned technologies which can be justified in terms of different trap distribution induced by impurity energy levels associated to each process.  相似文献

We study tail probabilities of the suprema of Lévy processes with subexponential or exponential marginal distributions over compact intervals. Several of the processes for which the asymptotics are studied here for the first time have recently become important to model financial time series. We report on a first study of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) after application of dynamic (shock) compression. The experiments were conducted at 19 GPa and 36 GPa in a recovery assembly. For comparison, an experiment at a static pressure of 36 GPa was performed on the material from the same batch in a diamond anvil cell (DAC). After the high pressure treatment the samples were characterized by Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). After exposure to 19 GPa of shock compression the CNT material exhibited substantial structural damage such as CNT wall disruption, opening of the tube along its axis (“unzipping”) and tube shortening (“cutting”). Dynamic compression to 36 GPa resulted in essentially complete CNT destruction whereas at least a fraction of the nanotubes was recovered after 36 GPa of static compression though severely damaged. In this study, slow strain rate tensile testing at elevated temperature is used to evaluate the influence of temperature and strain rate on deformation behaviour in two different austenitic alloys. One austenitic stainless steel (AISI 316L) and one nickel-base alloy (Alloy 617) have been investigated. Scanning electron microscopy related techniques as electron channelling contrast imaging and electron backscattering diffraction have been used to study the damage and fracture micromechanisms. For both alloys the dominante damage micromechanisms are slip bands and planar slip interacting with grain bounderies or precipitates causing strain concentrations. The dominante fracture micromechanism when using a slow strain rate at elevated temperature, is microcracks at grain bounderies due to grain boundery embrittlement caused by precipitates. The decrease in strain rate seems to have a small influence on dynamic strain ageing at 650°C.  相似文献

Protein toxins constitute the main virulence factors of several species of bacteria and have proven to be attractive targets for drug development. Lead candidates that target bacterial toxins range from small molecules to polymeric binders, and act at each of the multiple steps in the process of toxin-mediated pathogenicity. Despite recent and significant advances in the field, a rationally designed drug that targets toxins has yet to reach the market. This Review presents the state of the art in bacterial toxin targeted drug development with a critical consideration of achieved breakthroughs and withstanding challenges. The discussion focuses on A-B-type protein toxins secreted by four species of bacteria, namely Clostridium difficile (toxins A and B), Vibrio cholerae (cholera toxin), enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (Shiga toxin), and Bacillus anthracis (anthrax toxin), which are the causative agents of diseases for which treatments need to be improved.  相似文献

Hydrophobins are structural proteins produced by filamentous fungi that are amphiphilic and function through self-assembling into structures such as membranes. They have diverse roles in the growth and development of fungi, for example in adhesion to substrates, for reducing surface tension to allow aerial growth, in forming protective coatings on spores and other structures. Hydrophobin membranes at the air-water interface and on hydrophobic solids are well studied, but understanding how hydrophobins can bind to a polar surface to make it more hydrophobic has remained unresolved. Here we have studied different class II hydrophobins for their ability to bind to polar surfaces that were immersed in buffer solution. We show here that the binding under some conditions results in a significant increase of water contact angle (WCA) on some surfaces. The highest contact angles were obtained on cationic surfaces where the hydrophobin HFBI has an average WCA of 62.6° at pH 9.0, HFBII an average of 69.0° at pH 8.0, and HFBIII had an average WCA of 61.9° at pH 8.0. The binding of the hydrophobins to the positively charged surface was shown to depend on both pH and ionic strength. The results are significant for understanding the mechanism for formation of structures such as the surface of mycelia or fungal spore coatings as well as for possible technical applications.  相似文献

Ultrastrong coupling is studied in a modulation-doped parabolic potential well coupled to an inductance-capacitance resonant circuit. In this system, in accordance to Kohn's theorem, strong reduction of the energy level separation caused by the electron-electron interaction compensates the depolarization shift. As a result, a very large ratio of 27% of the Rabi frequency to the center resonance frequency as well as a polariton gap of width 2π × 670 GHz are observed, suggesting parabolic quantum wells as the system of choice in order to explore the ultrastrong coupling regime.  相似文献

The flow and deformation processes in swelling porous media are modeled for absorbent hygiene products (e.g., diapers, wipes, papers etc.). The first part of the article derives the fundamental equations for the hysteretic unsaturated flow, liquid absorption, and large deformation. The final set of model equations consists of balance equations of mobile and absorbed (immobile) liquid combined with a series of constitutive relationships. The resulting equation system is strongly nonlinear and requires advanced numerical strategies for solving. The second part of the article focuses on numerical solution and presents simulation results for 2D and 3D applications.  相似文献

The addition to the Hubbard Hamiltonian of a t' diagonal hopping term, which is considered to be material dependent for high-T c cuprate superconductors, is generally suggested to obtain a model capable to describe the physics of high-T c cuprate materials. In this line of thinking, the two-dimensional t-t'-U model has been studied by means of the Composite Operator Method, which allows to determine the dynamics in a fully self-consistent way by use of symmetry requirements, as the ones coming from the Pauli principle. At first, some local quantities have been calculated to be compared with quantum Monte Carlo data. Then, the structure of the energy bands, the shape of the Fermi surface and the position of the van Hove singularity have been computed as functions of the model parameters and studied by the light of the available experimental data. The results of our study show that there exists two sets of parameters that allows the model to describe the relevant features of the 1-layer compounds Nd2-xCexCuO4 and La2-xSrxCuO4. On the other hand, for the 2-layer compound YBa2Cu3O 7 - δ is not possible to find a reasonable set of parameters which could reproduce the position of the van Hove singularity as predicted by ARPES experiments. Hence, it results questionable the existence of an unique model that could properly describe the variety of cuprate superconductors, as the two-dimensional t-t'-U model was thought to be. The incidence of a fracture-related infection (FRI) can reach 30% of open tibia fractures (OTF). The use of antibiotic-coated implants is one of the newest strategies to reduce the risk of infection in orthopedic surgery. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of a gentamicin-coated tibia nail in primary fracture fixation (FF) and revision surgery (RS) of nonunion cases in terms of FRI incidence. We conducted a systematic review according to the PRISMA checklist on Pub-Med, Cochrane, and EMBASE. Of the 32 studies, 8 were included, for a total of 203 patients treated: 114 were FF cases (63% open fractures) and 89 were RS cases, of which 43% were infected nonunion. In the FF group, four FRI were found (3.8%): three OTF (Gustilo-Anderson III) and one closed fracture; bone healing was achieved in 94% of these cases. There were four relapses of infection and one new onset in the RS group; bone healing occurred in 88% of these cases. No side effects were found. There were no significant differences in terms of FRI, nonunion, and healing between the two groups. Gentamicin-coated tibia nail is an effective therapeutic option in the prophylaxis of high-risk fracture infections and in complex nonunion cases.  相似文献
