We report on the fabrication of high-quality opaline photonic crystals from large silica spheres (diameter of 890 nm), self-assembled in hydrophilic trenches of silicon wafers by using a novel technique coined a combination of "lifting and stirring". The achievements reported here comprise a spatial selectivity of opal crystallization without special treatment of the wafer surface, a filling of the trenches up to the top, leading to a spatially uniform film thickness, particularly an absence of cracks within the size of the trenches, and finally a good 3D order of the opal lattice even in trenches with a complex confined geometry, verified using optical measurements. The opal lattice was found to match the pattern precisely in width as well as depth, providing an important step toward applications of opals in integrated optics.  相似文献

In magneto-optical gratings the magnetic dipolar coupling superimposed on the electric dipolar one introduces nonreciprocity and spectral discrimination between circular polarization states, measured by a Zeeman-like splitting of the photonic Bragg resonances. In a nonlinear regime the degree of nonreciprocity is modified by the photoinduced interplay of these splittings and their Stark-like shifts. We predict novel magneto-optical modulation schemes for switching between orthogonal circular polarization states of transmission or reflection operated by means of an intense linearly polarized optical pulse train.  相似文献

The one-electron reduction potential of the radical cations of thioanisole (1), benzyl methyl sulfide (2) and 2-hydroxyethyl benzyl sulfide (3) in water, formamide, acetonitrile, acetone, 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropan-2-ol, methanol and 2-propanol was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. For comparison the one-electron reduction potentials in water were also measured using pulse radiolysis. The redox potential is strongly influenced by the nature of the solvent and the solvent sensitivity increases with charge localization. The present results have been used to evaluate solvent effects in view of the Kamlet-Taft relationship. The Kamlet-Taft expression quantitatively describes the solvent effects on the redox properties of 1-3 and gives the relative importance of the different solvent properties. The dominating contribution to the solvent effects is the solvent dipolarity/polarizability pi*, whereas alpha appears to be of minor importance. Furthermore, the relationship between the pi* and reduction potential of radical cations of 1-3 appear to be linear. It was also possible to find the same trend between the solvent dipole moment and peak potential of 1-3. These facts indicate that the nature of solvation is mainly nonspecific.  相似文献

This paper reports on the structure and desorption dynamics of thin D2O ice overlayers (0.2-10 monolayers) deposited on serine- and serinephosphate- (with H+, Na+, Ca2+ counterions) terminated self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). The D2O ice overlayers are deposited on the SAMs at approximately 85 K in ultrahigh vacuum and characterized with infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRAS). Reflection absorption (RA) spectra obtained at sub-monolayer D2O coverage reveal that surface modes, e.g. free dangling OD stretch, dominate on the serine SAM surface, whereas vibrational modes characteristic for bulk ice are more prominent on the serinephosphate SAMs. Temperature programmed desorption mass spectrometry (TPD-MS) and TPD-IRAS are subsequently used to investigate the energetics and the structural transitions occurring in the ice overlayer during temperature ramping. D2O ice (approximately 2.5 monolayers) on the serine SAMs undergoes a gradual change from an amorphous- to a crystalline-like phase upon increasing the substrate temperature. This transition is not as pronounced on the serine phosphate SAM most likely because of reduced mobility due to strong pinning to the surface. We show also that the energy of desorption for a sub-monolayer of D2O ice on serinephosphate SAM surfaces with a Na+ and Ca2+ counterions is equally high or even exceeds previously reported values for analogous high-energy SAMs.  相似文献

Gaussian spherical quadrature methods in the guise of the Lebedev sampling grids are highly efficient for some orientational ("powder") averaging problems in solid state NMR. However, their applicability is currently restricted, as the sets of orientations are derived analytically and because they are not well adapted to simulate the broad peakshapes encountered, for example, in the NMR on static powders or on half-integer quadrupolar spins subject to second order quadrupolar interactions under magic-angle spinning conditions. We remedy these problems by (i) introducing the recursive procedure regularized octahedral symmetry expansion (ROSE), to which any existing Lebedev set may be subjected. Each recursive step gives a 9-fold enlarged set of orientations. (ii) We demonstrate that ROSE-expanded grids, in conjunction with spectral interpolation, is well suited for calculating broad peakshapes. These advances combine into the apparently most efficient general-purpose two-angle orientational averaging technique proposed to date for solid state NMR applications.  相似文献

The stability of natural bentonite suspensions has been investigated as a function of temperature at pH 9 and ionic strength 10(-3) M. The sedimentation rate of the particles is directly related to their stability. The sedimentation kinetics was determined by examining the variation of particle concentration in solution with time. The observed kinetics for sedimentation is discussed quantitatively in terms of the potential energy between particles. The zeta-potential of the particles was measured and the DLVO theory was used to calculate attractive and repulsive potentials. Experimental observations are consistent with DLVO model predictions and show that the stability of bentonite colloids increases with temperature. Differences with other colloidal systems can be attributed to the temperature dependence of the surface charge of bentonite particles.  相似文献

A stereoselective synthesis of the C-glycoside analogue of beta-D-galactosyl-(5R,2S)-hydroxylysine (1) has been achieved starting from tetra-O-benzyl-D-galactopyranosyl lactone. The synthesis involved establishment of three stereogenic centers in an unambiguous manner. A facially selective Grignard reaction followed by a silane reduction was used for the anomeric position of the C-galactose residue. An Evans allylation established the configuration of the delta-aminomethylene group of the hydroxylysine moiety, whereas an asymmetric hydrogenation utilizing Burk's catalyst was used for the alpha-amino acid moiety itself. The synthesis was completed in 17 steps with an overall yield of 18%, resulting in the most complex and functionalized C-glycoside analogue of a naturally occurring glycosylated amino acid prepared to date. In addition, amino acid 1 was incorporated in a glycopeptide from type II collagen known to be crucial for the response of autoimmune T cells obtained in models of rheumatoid arthritis. A preliminary immunological study revealed that four out of five members in a panel of T cell hybridomas were able to recognize this C-linked glycopeptide when presented by A(q) class II MHC molecules.  相似文献

AbsoluteE0 andE2 transition rates in116Sn have been measured using several newly developed techniques. ManyE2 transitions are observed to have a collective character withB(E2) values of up to 60 W.u. A linear wave equation correct to first order in bed slope is used to calculate the wave field in the sea around an idealized island. This is of circular cylindrical shape and is situated on a paraboloidal shoal in an ocean of constant depth (Figure 1). The sides of the island are assumed fully reflecting. The incident waves are plane and periodic. Wave periods up to 30 min are investigated, and the Coriolis force is neglected. The solution of the wave equation is represented by a finite Fourier series, and a large number of very accurate numerical computations are carried through. The results appear partly in figures showing amplitude and phase angle curves (in some cases extending to the water area of constant depth outside the shoal), partly in figures showing amplitude vs wave period in fixed points. Comparison with solutions to the linearized long-wave equation is made, and the validity range of the corresponding shallow water theory is given. The influence of the shoal is studied by investigating the wave field around an island in an ocean of constant depth. New criteria are given for the applicability of a geometrical optics approach (i. e. refraction). Complete numerical refraction solutions for points at the shoreline (corresponding to many wave orthogonals ending at the point) for shallows water waves, as for the general case, demonstrate the inadequacy of this approach for long-period waves (seismic seawaves: tsunamis). All non-linear effects, including dissipation, are excluded.  相似文献
