Chern–Simons (CS) gauge theories in three dimensions and the Poisson sigma model (PSM) in two dimensions are examples of the same theory, if their field equations are interpreted as morphisms of Lie algebroids and their symmetries (on-shell) as homotopies of such morphisms. We point out that the (off-shell) gauge symmetries of the PSM in the literature are not globally well defined for non-parallelizable Poisson manifolds and propose a covariant definition of the off-shell gauge symmetries as left action of some finite-dimensional Lie algebroid.

Our approach allows us to avoid complications arising in the infinite-dimensional super-geometry of the BV- and AKSZ-formalism. This preprint is a starting point in a series of papers meant to introduce Yang–Mills type gauge theories of Lie algebroids, which include the standard YM theory, gerbes, and the PSM.  相似文献

We report photoluminescence (PL) and reflectivity measurements of Zn0.5Cd0.5Se epilayers grown by molecular beam epitaxy on InP substrates. The low-temperature PL spectra are dominated by asymmetric lines, which can be deconvoluted into two Gaussian peaks with a separation of ∼8 meV. The behavior of these peaks is studied as a function of excitation intensity and temperature, revealing that these are free exciton (FE) and bound exciton emission lines. Two lower energy emission lines are also observed and assigned to the first and second longitudinal optical phonon replicas of the FE emission. The temperature dependence of the intensity, line width, and energy of the dominant emission lines are described by an Arrhenius plot, a Bose-Einstein type relationship, Varshni's and Bose-Einstein equations, respectively.  相似文献

We discuss radiative corrections to an atomic two-level system subject to an intense driving laser field. It is shown that the Lamb shift of the laser-dressed states, which are the natural state basis of the combined atom-laser system, cannot be explained in terms of the Lamb shift received by the atomic bare states which is usually observed in spectroscopic experiments. In the final part, we propose an experimental scheme to measure these corrections based on the incoherent resonance fluorescence spectrum of the driven atom.  相似文献

A novel multicollision induced dissociation scheme is employed to determine the energy content for mass-selected gallium cluster ions as a function of their temperature. Measurements were performed for Ga(+)(n) (n=17 39, and 40) over a 90-720 K temperature range. For Ga+39 and Ga+40 a broad maximum in the heat capacity-a signature of a melting transition for a small cluster-occurs at around 550 K. Thus small gallium clusters melt at substantially above the 302.9 K melting point of bulk gallium, in conflict with expectations that they will remain liquid to below 150 K. No melting transition is observed for Ga+17.  相似文献

Total neutron scattering data from a powdered sample of MnO collected at 10 K have been analyzed using the reverse Monte Carlo method to refine the nuclear and magnetic structure. The results give the first unambiguous assignment of the average magnetic structure. The magnetic moments are aligned ferromagnetically within (111) sheets with the magnetization vectors of alternate sheets along axes parallel and antiparallel to the <112> directions, albeit with a small modulated out-of-plane component. Small displacements of Mn and O (modulated with the same periodicity) accompany the magnetic ordering and both atomic and magnetic structures may be described in the monoclinic space group C2.  相似文献

A hollow-core microstructured polymer optical fiber was analyzed in the terahertz (THz) region. Spectral analysis of time domain data shows propagation of THz waves in both the hollow-core and the microstructured cladding with a time delay of approximately 20 ps. The frequency range and shift of the transmission bands between different sized waveguides suggested photonic bandgap or resonant guidance. Finite-difference time domain calculations agree relatively well to the experimental transmission results. Propagation losses were estimated to be as low as 0.9 dB/cm.  相似文献

A systematic method for developing high-order, zero-temperature perturbation expansions for quantum many-body systems is presented. The models discussed explicitly are spin models with a variety of interactions, in one and two dimensions. The wide applicability of the method is illustrated by expansions around Hamiltonians with ordered and disordered ground states, namely Ising and dimerized models. Computer implementation of this method is discussed in great detail. Some previously unpublished series are tabulated.  相似文献

The basic mechanisms of ion-surface interaction relevant to film growth are discussed; the methods of ionization-assisted evaporation processes are outlined; and the properties of deposited metal and compound films are discussed. The ultimate objective in thin-film deposition is the growth of thin films with predictable, stable, and reproducible properties equal to or better than those of bulk materials and, in addition, the synthesis of new materials. It is pointed out that ionization-assisted processes provide the means to achieve this objective, with the technique selected depending entirely on the application for which the film is required. The processes are many and varied but have a common element in that a principal aim is to achieve maximum ionization of the depositing atoms/molecules and/or the reacting gas species. The techniques have varying degrees of ionization efficiency and deposition rates, but all offer many advantages over conventional evaporative processes through the ion/surface interaction mechanisms. It is concluded that future developments will see better theoretical understanding of the relationship of the process parameters to film properties, the development of advanced ion-assisted deposition technology, and they synthesis of new materials  相似文献

We study the role of network architecture in the formation of synchronous clusters in synaptically coupled networks of bursting neurons. We give a simple combinatorial algorithm that finds the largest synchronous clusters from the network topology. We demonstrate that networks with a certain degree of internal symmetries are likely to have cluster decompositions with relatively large clusters, leading potentially to cluster synchronization at the mesoscale network level. We also address the asymptotic stability of cluster synchronization in excitatory networks of Hindmarsh-Rose bursting neurons and derive explicit thresholds for the coupling strength that guarantees stable cluster synchronization.  相似文献

We present a method to calculate ionic conductivities of complex fluids from ab initio simulations. This is achieved by combining density functional theory molecular dynamics simulations with polarization theory. Conductivities are then obtained via a Green-Kubo formula using time-dependent effective charges of electronically screened ions. The method is applied to two different phases of warm dense water. We observe large fluctuations in the effective charges; protons can transport effective charges greater than +e for ultrashort time scales. Furthermore, we compare our results with a simpler model of ionic conductivity in water that is based on diffusion coefficients. Our approach can be directly applied to study ionic conductivities of electronically insulating materials of arbitrary composition, e.g., complex molecular mixtures under such extreme conditions that occur deep inside giant planets.  相似文献
