Liquid chromatography—Electrospray mass spectrometry for detection and isolation of an antifungal acetophenone fromRibes rubrum (Saxifragaceae)

Summary An antifungal acetophenone glycoside has been isolated from the methanol extract of the roots ofRibes rubrum (Saxifragaceae). The structure was established by spectrometric (UV, mass spectrometry, and¹H and¹³C NMR) and chemical methods. Extracts of four different tissues ofR. rubrum, the fruits, leaves, stem bark, and roots, have been compared by use of HPLC combined with UV detection and electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry (ES-MS).
