Dynamic information is generally extracted from deuterium quadrupole echo spectra by matching a spectrum calculated for a particular motional model to the experimental spectrum. In this work, a set of computer programs has been written to facilitate fitting of calculated spectra to experimental spectra that represent from one to five motional models. The fitting program requires pre-calculated libraries of spectra for the models of interest, and accomplishes the fitting either by a systematic method or by simulated annealing. The systematic method is convenient for fitting with one or two motional models, but the simulated annealing method is faster for two or more models, if the libraries are made up of hundreds of spectra. The parameter Q, with the standard deviation of the spectral points estimated as the standard deviation of the baseline noise, provides a stringent measure of goodness of fit. Acceptable fits of experimental data as judged by this criterion have not been found, even in the case of ring flip motion in phenylalanine-d(5) in which the fit may be judged acceptable by eye. An example of fitting with isotropic and methyl rotation motional models of alanine-d(3), which have distinct spectral patterns, shows that it is possible to obtain reasonably accurate estimates of the relative amounts of deuterium representing the different models, even from poorly fitted spectra.  相似文献

Depth-resolved NADH autofluorescence images are shown to differentiate between normal and precancerous engineered tissues. An inverse power law behavior of the power spectral density (PSD) of these images is observed, indicating a self-affine organization of mitochondrial NADH at length scales 1-10 microm. Power exponents of the PSD functions vary significantly with tissue depth and precancerous state, giving insight into the morphological changes associated with precancerous lesions and providing substantial potential for noninvasive clinical diagnosis of squamous epithelial lesions and tumors.  相似文献

The electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) offers a sustainable solution towards ammonia production but suffers poor reaction performance owing to preferential catalyst–H formation and the consequential hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Now, the Pt/Au electrocatalyst d-band structure is electronically modified using zeolitic imidazole framework (ZIF) to achieve a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of >44 % with high ammonia yield rate of >161 μg mgcat−1 h−1 under ambient conditions. The strategy lowers electrocatalyst d-band position to weaken H adsorption and concurrently creates electron-deficient sites to kinetically drive NRR by promoting catalyst–N2 interaction. The ZIF coating on the electrocatalyst doubles as a hydrophobic layer to suppress HER, further improving FE by >44-fold compared to without ZIF (ca. 1 %). The Pt/Au-NZIF interaction is key to enable strong N2 adsorption over H atom.  相似文献

A gas‐phase approach to form Zn coordination sites on metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) by vapor‐phase infiltration (VPI) was developed. Compared to Zn sites synthesized by the solution‐phase method, VPI samples revealed approximately 2.8 % internal strain. Faradaic efficiency towards conversion of CO2 to CO was enhanced by up to a factor of four, and the initial potential was positively shifted by 200–300 mV. Using element‐specific X‐ray absorption spectroscopy, the local coordination environment of the Zn center was determined to have square‐pyramidal geometry with four Zn?N bonds in the equatorial plane and one Zn‐OH2 bond in the axial plane. The fine‐tuned internal strain was further supported by monitoring changes in XRD and UV/Visible absorption spectra across a range of infiltration cycles. The ability to use internal strain to increase catalytic activity of MOFs suggests that applying this strategy will enhance intrinsic catalytic capabilities of a variety of porous materials.  相似文献

Liquid crystalline solutions of cellulose in an ammonia/ammonium thiocyanate solvent will form thermoreversible gels at temperatures below 30°C. These gels are of interest both for processing the cellulose/ammonia/ammonium thiocyanate system and because they have an unusual structure, containing neither crystalline nor covalently bonded crosslinks. Although these gels contain neither crystalline nor covalently bonded crosslinks, the dynamic rheological behavior of the system at the gel point was found to be the same as for gels with covalent or crystalline crosslinks with a loss tangent, tan δ, independent of frequency. The kinetics of the gelation process was monitored via dynamic elastic modulus, G′. All samples revealed an exponential increase in G′ with time during gelation, very different from that observed in covalently bonded or crystalline crosslinked systems. Measurements of the loss tangent enabled precise determination of the gelation time for these systems as a function of cellulose concentration and temperature. We found the gel time to be inversely related to cellulose concentration and directly related to temperature. The strong dependence of gel time on these parameters offers a windows of spinnability that can be tailored for processing high modulus cellulose fibers. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Mitochondria have been implicated as a primary subcellular site of porphyrin localization and photodestruction. However, other organelles including the cell membrane, lysosomes and nucleus have been shown to be damaged by hematoporphyrin derivative (HpD) photosensitized destruction as well. In this study we attempted to follow the translocation of the fluorescent components of HpD in human bladder tumor cells (MGH-U1) in culture to determine whether specific subcellular localization occurs over time. Following a 30 min exposure to HpD the cellular fluorescence was examined immediately and 1, 2, 4, and 24 h after HpD removal using fluorescence microscopy and an interactive laser cytometer. The in vitro translocation of dye appeared to be fairly rapid with fluorescence present at the cell membrane and later (1-2 h) within a perinuclear area of the cytoplasm. To determine whether HpD had become concentrated into a specific subcellular organelle, these fluorescence distribution patterns were compared with fluorescent marker dyes specific for mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum and other membranous organelles. The HpD fluorescence did not appear to be as discrete as the dyes specific for mitochondria or endoplasmic reticulum but appeared similar to the diffuse cytomembrane stain. Finally, the interaction between the fluorescent components of HpD and the cellular constituents was evaluated using a "fluorescence redistribution after photobleaching" technique. The results indicated that the mean lateral diffusion for HpD in MGH-U1 cells was 1.05 x 10(-8) cm2/s, a rate closer to that of lipid diffusion (10(-8)) than that of protein diffusion (10(-10)).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Prevention of ice accretion and adhesion on surfaces is relevant to many applications, leading to improved operation safety, increased energy efficiency, and cost reduction. Development of passive nonicing coatings is highly desirable, since current antiicing strategies are energy and cost intensive. Superhydrophobicity has been proposed as a lead passive nonicing strategy, yet the exact mechanism of delayed icing on these surfaces is not clearly understood. In this work, we present an in-depth analysis of ice formation dynamics upon water droplet impact on surfaces with different wettabilities. We experimentally demonstrate that ice nucleation under low-humidity conditions can be delayed through control of surface chemistry and texture. Combining infrared (IR) thermometry and high-speed photography, we observe that the reduction of water-surface contact area on superhydrophobic surfaces plays a dual role in delaying nucleation: first by reducing heat transfer and second by reducing the probability of heterogeneous nucleation at the water-substrate interface. This work also includes an analysis (based on classical nucleation theory) to estimate various homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation rates in icing situations. The key finding is that ice nucleation delay on superhydrophobic surfaces is more prominent at moderate degrees of supercooling, while closer to the homogeneous nucleation temperature, bulk and air-water interface nucleation effects become equally important. The study presented here offers a comprehensive perspective on the efficacy of textured surfaces for nonicing applications.  相似文献

This paper describes the design and testing of a computer-controlled sensor for the real-time measurement of the density of a liquid or slurry. It is to be deployed at the US Department of Energy's Hanford Site in Richland, WA, to monitor slurry properties during radioactive waste transfers. To demonstrate the sensor performance, tests were carried out using non-radioactive waste simulants and the results will be presented. The sensor is mounted flush with the pipeline wall in a nominal 5-cm (2-in.) pipe spool piece. The design pressure is 2.8 MPa (400 psi). The probe wedge in contact with the slurry was selected to operate up to pH 14, and the probe components were radiation tested at exposures of 1 x 10(6) R. The sensor is applicable for process control of all types of liquids or slurries in pipelines or in vessels.  相似文献

High-resolution core-level data from the prototypical In/Si(1 1 1) system have been acquired at 10 K. An asymmetric tail in the In 4d spectra reveals a metallic character of the low temperature Si(1 1 1)8 × 2 phase confined to the inner indium rows. The decoupling of the one-dimensional inner indium chains from any metallic environment at ∼10 K suggests a possible Luttinger liquid behavior. At room temperature essentially a broadening of the spectral features is noticed, which appears compatible with a fluctuation scenario.  相似文献
