The height distribution of the dayside cusp aurora and the relation between optical emissions and net downward electron energy flux are discussed. These two important characteristics of day-side cusp aurora are still unknown. It is instructive to compare particle flux and optical luminosity because these two quantities should be proportional if the cusp aurora is caused by electron impact, as has been found for nighttime aurora in the oval. Furthermore, there should then be a direct relation between auroral altitudes and particle energy. Based on coordinated auroral observations at Svalbard and Greenland, together with simultaneous, overhead F-9 satellite measurements, these quantities have been evaluated  相似文献

The investigation of the behavior of a nonlinear system consists in theanalysis of different stages of its motion, where the complexity varieswith the proximity of a resonance region. Near this region the stabilitydomain of the system undergoes sudden changes due basically tocompetition and interaction between periodic and saddle solutions insidethe phase portrait, leading to the occurrence of the most differentphenomena. Depending of the domain of the chosen control parameter,these events can reveal interesting geometric features of the system sothat the phase portrait is not capable to express all them, since theprojection of these solutions on the two-dimensional surface can hidesome aspects of these events. In this work we will investigate thenumerical solutions of a particular pendulum system close to a secondaryresonance region, where we vary the control parameter in a restrictdomain in order to draw a preliminary identification about what happenswith this system. This domain includes the appearance of non-hyperbolicsolutions where the basin of attraction in the center of the phaseportrait diminishes considerably, almost disappearing, and afterwardsits size increases with the direction of motion inverted. Thisphenomenon delimits a boundary between low and high frequency of theexternal excitation.  相似文献

Several new infrared absorption bands for 32S16O3 have been measured and analyzed. The principal bands observed were ν1+ν2 (at 1561 cm−1), ν1+ν4 (at 1594 cm−1), ν3+ν4 (at 1918 cm−1), and 3ν3 (at 4136 cm−1). Except for 3ν3, these bands are very complicated because of (a) the Coriolis coupling between ν2 and ν4, (b) the Fermi resonance between ν1 and 2ν4, (c) the Fermi resonance between ν1 and 2ν2, (d) ordinary l-type resonance that couples levels that differ by 2 in both the k and l quantum numbers, and (e) the vibrational l-type resonance between the A1 and A2 levels of ν3+ν4. The unraveling of the complex pattern of these bands was facilitated by a systematic approach to the understanding of the various interactions. Fortunately, previous work on the fundamentals permitted good estimates of many constants necessary to begin the assignments and the fit of the measurements. In addition, the use of hot band transitions accompanying the ν3 band was an essential aid in fitting the ν3+ν4 transitions since these could be directly observed for only one of four interacting states. From the hot band analysis we find that the A1 vibrational level is 3.50 cm−1 above the A2 level, i.e., r34=1.75236(7) cm−1. In the case of the 3ν3 band, the spectral analysis is straightforward and a weak Δk=±2, Δl3=±2 interaction between the l3=1 and l3=3 substates locates the latter A1 and A2 “ghost” states 22.55(4) cm−1 higher than the infrared accessible l3=1 E state.  相似文献

In this paper we study the boundary behavior of functions in Hilbert spaces of vector-valued analytic functions on the unit disc D. More specifically, we give operator-theoretic conditions on Mz, where Mz denotes the operator of multiplication by the identity function on D, that imply that all functions in the space have non-tangential limits a.e., at least on some subset of the boundary. The main part of the article concerns the extension of a theorem by Aleman, Richter and Sundberg in [A. Aleman, S. Richter, C. Sundberg, Analytic contractions and non-tangential limits, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 359 (2007)] to the case of vector-valued functions.  相似文献

The partitioning of the ternary systems n-pentane/n-heptane/(helium or argon) at ambient conditions is investigated using configurational-bias Monte Carlo simulations in the Gibbs ensemble. The results demonstrate that this approach yields very precise partition constants and free energies of transfer. Simulations are carried out to study the dependence of the n-pentane partitioning with respect to the carrier gas, the system size, and the overall solute concentrations. None of the changes of variables, within the ranges used here, has a significant effect on the alkane partitioning. However, chemical potentials calculated via Widom's ghost particle insertions show a strong number dependence for phases containing relatively few molecules of a given type. This problem originates from the fact that the chemical potential is calculated for a concentration of real particles plus one ghost particle that is systematically larger than the equilibrium concentration. The K-shell radiated energy (yield) from neon Z-pinch implosions with annular, gas-puff nozzle radii of 1, 1.75, and 2.5 cm was measured for implosion times from 50 to 300 ns while systematically keeping the implosion kinetic energy nearly constant. The implosions were driven by the Hawk inductive-storage generator at the 0.65-MA level. Initial neutral-neon density distributions from the nozzles were determined with laser interferometry. Measured yields are compared with predictions from zero-dimensional (0-D) scaling models of ideal. One-dimensional (1-D) pinch behavior to both benchmark the scaling models, and to determine their utility for predicting K-shell yields for argon implosions of 200 to >300 ns driven by corresponding currents of 4 to 9 MA, such as envisioned for the DECADE QUAD. For all three nozzles, the 0-D models correctly predict the Z-pinch mass for maximum yield. For the 1and 1.75-cm radius nozzles, the scaling models accurately match the measured yields if the ratio of initial to final radius (compression ratio) is assumed to be 8:1. For the 2.5-cm radius nozzle, the measured yields are only one-third of the predictions. Analysis of K-shell spectral measurements suggest that as much as 70% (50%) of the imploded mass is radiating in the K-shell for the 1-cm (1.75-cm) radius nozzle. That fraction is only 10% for the 2.5-cm radius nozzle. The 0-D scaling models are useful for predicting 1-D-like K-shell radiation yields (better than a factor-of-two accuracy) when a nominal (≈10:1) compression ratio is assumed. However, the compression ratio assumed in the models is only an “effective” quantity, so that further interpretations based on the 0-D analysis require additional justification. The lower-than-predicted yield for the 2.5-cm radius nozzle is associated with larger radius and not with longer implosion time, and is probably a result of two-dimensional effects  相似文献
