Improving the photochemical properties of molecular photoswitches is crucial for the development of light‐responsive systems in materials and life sciences. ortho‐Fluoroazobenzenes are a new class of rationally designed photochromic azo compounds with optimized properties, such as the ability to isomerize with visible light only, high photoconversions, and unprecedented robust bistable character. Introducing σ‐electron‐withdrawing F atoms ortho to the N?N unit leads to both an effective separation of the n→π* bands of the E and Z isomers, thus offering the possibility of using these two transitions for selectively inducing E/Z isomerizations, and greatly enhanced thermal stability of the Z isomers. Additional para‐electron‐withdrawing groups (EWGs) work in concert with ortho‐F atoms, giving rise to enhanced separation of the n→π* transitions. A comprehensive study of the effect of substitution on the key photochemical properties of ortho‐fluoroazobenzenes is reported herein. In particular, the position, number, and nature of the EWGs have been varied, and the visible light photoconversions, quantum yields of isomerization, and thermal stabilities have been measured and rationalized by DFT calculations.  相似文献

Wavelet-based ultra-high compression of multidimensional NMR data sets   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The application of a lossy data compression algorithm based on wavelet transform to 2D NMR spectra is presented. We show that this algorithm affords rapid and extreme compression ratios (e.g., 800:1), providing high quality reconstructed 2D spectra. The algorithm was evaluated to ensure that qualitative and quantitative information are retained in the compressed NMR spectra. Whilst the maximum compression ratio that can be achieved depends on the number of signals and on the difference between the most and the least intense peaks (dynamic range), a compression ratio of 80:1 is affordable even for the challenging case of homonuclear 2D experiments of large biomolecules.  相似文献

A parameterized self-consistent reaction field model allowing computation of the total free energy of hydration of organic molecules at the ab initio level is presented. The approach uses electrostatic plus polarization energies calculated with the help of a continuum model. The remaining solvation free energy terms are obtained by a simple formula based on atomic parameters and atomic accessible surface areas (ASAs), which are determined with the ASA analytical algorithm. Analytical derivatives of the atomic surfaces areas have been implemented. The atomic parameters have been obtained by a linear regression fit of the calculated and experimental free energies of solution in water for a set of 35 molecules, leading to a standard deviation of 0.75 kcal/mol. Effects of nonelectrostatic terms on solute geometries, association energies, and activation barriers are illustrated. © 1996 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A simple three-dimensional time-reversible system of ODEs with quadratic nonlinearities is considered in a recent paper by Sprott (2014). The author finds in this system, that has no equilibria, the coexistence of a strange attractor and invariant tori. The goal of this letter is to justify theoretically the existence of infinite invariant tori and chaotic attractors. For this purpose we embed the original system in a one-parameter family of reversible systems. This allows to demonstrate the presence of a Hopf-zero bifurcation that implies the birth of an elliptic periodic orbit. Thus, the application of the KAM theory guarantees the existence of an extremely complex dynamics with periodic, quasiperiodic and chaotic motions. Our theoretical study is complemented with some numerical results. Several bifurcation diagrams make clear the rich dynamics organized around a so-called noose bifurcation where, among other scenarios, cascades of period-doubling bifurcations also originate chaotic attractors. Moreover, a cross section and other numerical simulations are also presented to illustrate the KAM dynamics exhibited by this system.  相似文献

In recent decades, the number of patients requiring biocompatible and resistant implants that differ from conventional alternatives dramatically increased. Among the most promising are the nanocomposites of biopolymers and nanomaterials, which pretend to combine the biocompatibility of biopolymers with the resistance of nanomaterials. However, few studies have focused on the in vivo study of the biocompatibility of these materials. The electrospinning process is a technique that produces continuous fibers through the action of an electric field imposed on a polymer solution. However, to date, there are no reports of chitosan (CS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) electrospinning with carbon nano-onions (CNO) for in vivo implantations, which could generate a resistant and biocompatible material. In this work, we describe the synthesis by the electrospinning method of four different nanofibrous membranes of chitosan (CS)/(PVA)/oxidized carbon nano-onions (ox-CNO) and the subdermal implantations after 90 days in Wistar rats. The results of the morphology studies demonstrated that the electrospun nanofibers were continuous with narrow diameters (between 102.1 nm ± 12.9 nm and 147.8 nm ± 29.4 nm). The CS amount added was critical for the diameters used and the successful electrospinning procedure, while the ox-CNO amount did not affect the process. The crystallinity index was increased with the ox-CNO introduction (from 0.85% to 12.5%), demonstrating the reinforcing effect of the nanomaterial. Thermal degradation analysis also exhibited reinforcement effects according to the DSC and TGA analysis, with the higher ox-CNO content. The biocompatibility of the nanofibers was comparable with the porcine collagen, as evidenced by the subdermal implantations in biological models. In summary, all the nanofibers were reabsorbed without a severe immune response, indicating the usefulness of the electrospun nanocomposites in biomedical applications.  相似文献

FAH domain containing protein 1 (FAHD1) acts as oxaloacetate decarboxylase in mitochondria, contributing to the regulation of the tricarboxylic acid cycle. Guided by a high-resolution X-ray structure of FAHD1 liganded by oxalate, the enzymatic mechanism of substrate processing is analyzed in detail. Taking the chemical features of the FAHD1 substrate oxaloacetate into account, the potential inhibitor structures are deduced. The synthesis of drug-like scaffolds afforded first-generation FAHD1-inhibitors with activities in the low micromolar IC50 range. The investigations disclosed structures competing with the substrate for binding to the metal cofactor, as well as scaffolds, which may have a novel binding mode to FAHD1.  相似文献

A numerical study of laser-triggered discharges in air at atmospheric pressure is presented for an ultraviolet laser in small gaps. Two models, one for the ionization of the air by the laser pulse and the second for the streamer evolution have been computed. From results of numerical simulations the influence of the laser parameters such as energy, pulse duration and beam radius is analyzed and electron distributions are obtained for different small gaps. Electric field, streamer velocity and evolution of the ionized volume are calculated by means of streamer simulations. This paper shows the main features of the laser-triggered discharges and also the importance of using numerical simulations in a laser-triggered experiment.  相似文献
