A Generalisation of Nagata's Theorem on Ruled Surfaces

We prove a generalisation of a theorem of Nagata on ruled surface to the case of the fiber bundle E/P X, associated to a principal G-bundle E. Using this we prove boundedness for the isomorphism classes of semi-stable G-bundles in all characteristics.     

SYNTHESIS OF SOME NEW 1,2,4-TRIAZOLO[3,4-b]-THIADIAZOLE DERIVATIVES AS POSSIBLE ANTICANCER AGENTS

3-Substituted-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles are versatile synthons for constructing various biologically active heterocycles. Their cyclization with carboxylic acids gives fused five-membered derivatives, whereas with α-bromoketones gives a six-membered heterocycle. In this article we report the synthesis of a series of 1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b]thiadiazoles 5 starting from 4-amino-3-substituted-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazoles 3 and fluorobenzoic acids 4 using phosphorous oxychloride as cyclizing agent. Fourteen of the newly synthesized compounds were screened for anticancer properties. Four among them showed in vitro anticancer activity.     

An efficient synthesis of 2-benzoxepines from Morita-Baylis-Hillman adducts using heterogeneous recyclable catalysts

2-Benzoxepines have efficiently been synthesized from Morita-Baylis-Hillman adducts, alkyl 3-aryl-3-hydroxy-2-methylenepropanoates by treatment with HCHO catalyzed by silica supported perchloric acid (HClO4.SiO2) or Amberlyst-15 in CH2Cl2 under reflux for a short period of time (1.5-2.5 h). The catalyst can be recovered and recycled. The antibacterial properties of the new 2-benzoxepines were studied but no activity was found.
