We examine the contribution of pairing fluctuations to the superfluid order parameter for harmonically trapped atomic Fermi gases in the BCS regime. In the limit of small systems we consider, both analytically and numerically, their space and temperature dependence. We predict a parity effect, i.e., that pairing fluctuations show a maximum or a minimum at the center of the trap, depending on the value of the last occupied shell being even or odd. We propose to detect pairing fluctuations by measuring the density-density correlation function after a ballistic expansion of the gas. 相似文献

In this note we show that the mathematical tools of cooperative game theory allow a successful approach to the statistical problem of estimating a density function. The dynamics of the temporal fluctuations of the length of the day (LOD) time series from January 1, 1962 to November 2, 2006 were investigated. The power spectrum of the whole time series has revealed annual, semi-annual, decadal and daily oscillatory behaviors, correlated with oceanic–atmospheric processes and interactions. The scaling behavior was analyzed by using the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA), which has revealed two different scaling regimes, separated by a crossover timescale at approximately 23 days. Flicker-noise process can describe the dynamics of the LOD time regime involving intermediate and long timescales, while Brownian dynamics characterizes the LOD time series for small timescales. 相似文献

Abstract The solution properties of the exopolysaccharide marginalan produced by Pseudomonas marginalis HT041B were investigated by means of low-angle laser light-scattering, capillary viscometry, and rheology. Potentiometric and viscosimetric data indicated the absence of a cooperative transition of the disorder-to-order type. The experimental findings obtained in dilute solution (Mark-Houwink coefficients, rigidity coefficient, characteristic ratio) suggested that the polymer behaves like a semiflexible chain which adopts a disordered conformation. The rheological behaviour of more concentrated marginalan solutions, as determined by means of both steady shear and oscillatory measurements, further confirmed the disordered conformational state of the polymer in solution. 相似文献

Published datasets of proteinaceous animal tissues suggest that co‐variation between amino acid hydrogen (δ2H) and oxygen (δ18O) isotope ratios is a common feature in systems where isotopic variation is driven by geographic or temporal variation in the δ2H and δ18O values of environmental water. This has led to the development of models relating tissue δ2H and δ18O values to those of water, with potential application in a number of fields. However, the strength and ubiquity of the influence of environmental water on protein isotope ratios across taxonomic groups, and thus the relevance of predictive models, is an open question. Here we report strong co‐variation of δ2H and δ18O values across a suite of terrestrial and aquatic animal meats purchased in American food markets, including beef, poultry (chicken and turkey), chicken eggs, pork, lamb, freshwater fish, and marine fish. Significant isotope co‐variation was not found for small collections of marine bivalves and crustaceans. These results imply that isotopic signals from environmental water were propagated similarly through most of the diverse natural and human‐managed foodwebs represented by our samples. Freshwater fish had the largest variation in δ2H and δ18O values, with ranges of 121 ‰ and 19.2 ‰, respectively, reflecting the large isotopic variation in environmental freshwaters. In contrast marine animals had the smallest variation for both δ2H (7 ‰ range, crustaceans) and δ18O (3.0 ‰ range, bivalves) values.
