Non-orthogonal atomic orbitals

The procedure of Raffenetti and Ruedenberg for defining non-orthogonal atomic orbitals is generalized to provide minimum-kinetic-energy atomic orbitals for use in applications of pseudopotential theory in atoms and molecules.     

Electronic structure of the GeGaAs (111) and (111) heterojunctions

The electronic density of states for GeGaAs (111) and ($\text{1}$$\text{1}$$\text{1}$) heterojunctions has been calculated. No interface states in the fundamental gap are found. A sizeable density of interface states below the top of the valence band is found for GeGa bonds-(111) junctions-interface states in the ionic gap are reported. The effect of varying the amount of the valence band discontinuity across the interface is discussed.     

Meson spectrum in a simple planar bootstrap model

A simple planar cluster-multiperipheral model with a finite-energy sum rule constraint is set up, and self-consistency is imposed. This dynamically generates a zero-parameter infinitely-rising vector-tensor Regge trajectory which is in good agreement with experiment.     

Synthesis of 1,5-dideazariboflavin

1,5-Dideazariboflavin, an analog of riboflavin containing the original conjugated double bond system between positions 1 and 5, was synthesized by the condensation of 4,5-dimethyl- N-ribitylanthranilaldehyde and the sodium salt of 2,4,6-piperidinetrione.     

An adaptive algorithm for system level diagnosis

Consider a system of n units, at most t of which are faulty. An adaptive diagnosis algorithm is presented which uses a sequence of tests to identify a fault-free unit. The algorithm requires at most 2t − ν(t) tests, where ν(t) is the number of 1's in the binary representation of t. Moreover, many of the tests can be performed simultaneously. The previously best algorithms for the same purpose required 2t − 1 tests, none of which could be performed simultaneously.     

Axisymmetric buckling of rigidly clamped hemispherical shells

The shell is subjected to a uniform compressive surface load (either a pressure or a centrally directed load). The results of a numerical study are summarized and compared with experiments.

Data on the polarographic half-wave potentials, wave characteristics, probable reduction products and other polarographically important information are tabulated for 28 metal ions in 9 supporting electrolytes containing hydrazine, pyridine, sodium hydroxide, potassium thiocyanate, and pyrophosphate.
