Synthese und Kristallstruktur von Blei(II)‐oxidhalogenid‐Alkoholaten mit unterschiedlichen Verknüpfungsvarianten von Pb4O4‐Heterokubaneinheiten

Synthesis and Crystal Structure Determination of Lead(II) Oxide Halide Alcoholates with Different Connectivity of Pb₄O₄ Heterocubane‐like Subunits The reaction of red lead(II) oxide (Litharge) and lead(II) halide (Cl^? and Br^?) with diethylene glycole at a temperature of 180 °C leads to the isotypic compounds [Pb₆(C₄H₈O₃)O₂Cl₆] (1) and [Pb₆(C₄H₈O₃)O₂Br₆] (2) . In a similar synthesis with PbI₂ as educt at temperature of 160 °C the two modifications β‐[Pb₆(C₄H₈O₃)O₂I₆] (3) and α‐[Pb₆(C₄H₈O₃)O₂I₆] (4) were found, whereas at a reaction temperature of 180 °C [Pb₉(C₂H₄O₂)(C₄H₈O₃)O₃I₈] (5) was surprisingly obtained as product. The X‐ray diffraction data show that at a temperature of 180 °C a splitting of the ether took place. The cited compounds show cubane like subunits built by lead and oxygen atoms. These fragments are connected by alkoholate molecules. In 5 additionally an I₆ octahedra centered by lead is observed.     

Pd/P(t-Bu)(3): a mild and general catalyst for Stille reactions of aryl chlorides and aryl bromides

Pd/P(t-Bu)(3) serves as an unusually reactive catalyst for Stille reactions of aryl chlorides and bromides, providing solutions to a number of long-standing challenges. An unprecedented array of aryl chlorides can be cross-coupled with a range of organotin reagents, including SnBu(4). Very hindered biaryls (e.g., tetra-ortho-substituted) can be synthesized, and aryl chlorides can be coupled in the presence of aryl triflates. The method is user-friendly, since a commercially available complex, Pd(P(t-Bu)(3))(2), is effective. Pd/P(t-Bu)(3) also functions as an active catalyst for Stille reactions of aryl bromides, furnishing the first general method for room-temperature cross-couplings.     

On the Stereochemistry of Natural Irones,Dihydroirones, and their Precursors

Natural irones from the essential oil of Iris rhizomes develop by oxidative degradation of C₃₁-triterpenoids produced by the plant. Two enantiomeric forms of irones are found in Iris, oils of different origin. The optical properties and CD spectra of irones, dihydroirones and their C₃₁-precursors are reported and their absolute stereochemistry is determined.     

Comparison between capillary electrophoresis and ion-chromatography for analysis of inorganic anions

Separation and detection of some selected inorganic anions with capillary electrophoresis are shown. The anions are separated in microbore capillaries (25 m* 0.2 m) and detected with a UV-detector. Results are compared with the method of ion exchange chromatography. In consideration of the most important physical and chemical parameters an easy kind of computer simulation for such electropherograms was developed.To get optimal results of separation and UV-detection in capillary electrophoresis some parameters of the device HPE 100, i.e. loading time in the electrokinetic sample injection mode and the running voltage are varied. The behaviour of absorption in the UV region of the chosen anions as well as the influence of pH values in retention behaviour are investigated. There is a simple way to calculate the electrophoretic mobilities from known retention times. Approximate limits of detection for all anions and for each technique are given.     

Carbonyl-yne reactions of 3,3,3-trifluoropyruvates

An efficient synthesis of trifluoromethyl-containing 2,3-allenols via carbonyl-yne reaction of 3,3,3-trifluoropyruvates with acetylenes is described. In the presence of MgBr₂·Et₂O the reaction of methyl trifluoropyruvate with hex-1-yne proceeds diastereoselectively. Trifluoromethyl-substituted 2,3-allenols can be stereoselectively transformed into trifluoromethyl-substituted 2,5-dihydrofurans on treatment with AgNO₃.     

Ferromagnetism in a dinuclear nickel(II) complex containing triethylenetetramine and tricyanomethanide

Triethylenetetramine (L(4)) was used as a tetradentate blocking ligand that, after complexation with Ni(II), leaves two sites ready for ligation with tricyanomethanide. The formed binuclear complex [L(4)Ni(NCC(CN)CN)(2)NiL(4)](ClO(4))(2) exhibits a ferromagnetic coupling with J/hc = +0.15 cm(-1) and g(Ni) = 2.126; below 16 K, a ferromagnetic ordering is evidenced by ac magnetic susceptibility (both in-phase and out-of-phase), magnetization, field-cooled magnetization, and zero-field-cooled magnetization measurements.     

Solvothermale Synthese und Bestimmung der Kristallstrukturen von AgBiI4 und Ag3BiI6

Solvothermal Synthesis and Crystal Structure Determination of AgBiI₄ and Ag₃BiI₆ AgBiI₄ and Ag₃BiI₆ were synthesized by solvothermal reaction from AgI and BiI₃ in diluted HI‐solution (20 %) at a temperature of 160 °C. The greyish‐black crystals grow as octahedra (AgBiI₄) or hexagonal/trigonal platelets (Ag₃BiI₆). AgBiI₄ crystallizes in space group Fd3¯m with a = 1222.3(1) pm (300 K) and Z = 8 whereas Ag₃BiI₆ shows the space group R3¯m with a = 435.37(6) pm, c = 2081.0(4) pm (300 K) and Z = 1. Both crystal structures show stacking sequence abcabc… of hexagonal layers containing Iodine. Bismuth and silver are sharing octahedral sites with different mass ratio in both structures. The part of silver which could be localized varies with temperature. This behaviour indicates mobility of silver within the crystal structure. The ionic conductivity of AgBiI₄ is explored. AgBiI₄ and Ag₃BiI₆ show close structural relationship, with AgBiI₄ as a variant with a higher degree of order.     

Synthesis of homochiral 2-C-perfluoroalkyl substituted d- and l-riboses

Homochiral 2-C-perfluoroalkyl substituted d- and l-riboses were synthesized via Barbier, Grignard and Ruppert type reactions. The influence of the size of the perfluoroalkyl groups, attached to C-2, on the furanose/pyranose as well as on the α-furanose/β-furanose and α-pyranose/β-pyranose ratio in solution was studied.
