Summary The separation of poly(styrene-co-acrylonitrile) is presented in open tubular stainless steel columns and columns packed with non-porous glass beads. Furthermore separation on a short silica packed column proved to be better than on a similar longer column. A definition of the term high performance precipitation liquid chromatography is suggested for gradient elution with sample injection into a starting eluent which is a nonsolvent for the copolymer under investigation. The choice of a suitable solvent-nonsolvent combination is of essential importance.  相似文献

The structures of two glycinohydroxamoto (GHA) complexes of Ni(II) and Co(III) have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The crystals of Ni(GHA)2 are monoclinic with a = 5.360(1), b = 7.315(4), c = 10.194(4) Å, β = 96.57(3), Z = 2, and space group P21/c. The crystals of Co(GHA)3•1/2 H2O are monoclinic with a = 22.467(19), b = 8.041(4), c = 13.700(11) Å, β = 116.01(7), Z = 8, and space group C2/c. The values of the final residuals R for Ni(GHA)2 and Co(GHA)3•1/2 H2O are 0.0275 and 0.032, respectvely. The molecular structures of Ni(GHA)2 and Co(GHA)3 consist of a square planar and an octahedral coordination, respectively, with the glycinohydroxamato (NH2CH2CONOH) ligands coordinating to the metal ion via the N (amino) and the N (NOH). These two complexes are the first well-established cases of coordination of the NHO group of a hydroxamic acid to a transition metal via the nitrogen atom.  相似文献

A solvent venting technique for injection of volumes up to 1 μl on 50 μm i.d. SFC columns has been compared to direct injection methods. The peak broadening and peak splitting observed with direct injection have been examined and found to be related to the starting pressure, the column temperature, and the sample solvent, in addition to the sample volume. The solvent venting technique removed peak splitting and improved the column efficiency. With a proper selection of experimental conditions, the sample recovery was 100%. The major part of the solvent was eluted in 15–20 s. Several applications have been demonstrated.  相似文献

The goal of this investigation was to correlate the melanin content in human pigmentary cells with the generation of UVB-induced photoproducts and to examine the relationship between the melanin content and the removal of the photoproducts. Cultured melanocytes from light-skinned individuals synthesized less melanin and produced more cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers and 6-4 photoproducts upon UVB exposure than did melanocytes from black skin. Tyrosine-stimulated melanogenesis provided protection against DNA damage in both cell types. In another set of pigmented cell lines a ratio between eumelanin and pheomelanin was determined. The assessment of association between DNA damage induction and the quantity and quality of melanin revealed that eumelanin concentration correlated better with DNA protection than pheomelanin. Skin type-I and skin type-VI melanocytes, congenital nevus (CN)-derived cells and skin type-II melanocytes from a multiple-melanoma patient were grown in media with low or high L-tyrosine concentration. The cells were irradiated with 200 J/m2 UVB, and the levels of the photoproducts were determined immediately and after 6 and 24 h. Once again the induction of the photoproducts was mitigated by increased melanogenesis, and it was inversely correlated with the skin type. No significant differences were found for the removal of photoproducts in the cultures of skin types I and VI and CN cells. No indications of a delay in the removal of photoproducts in the melanocytes from the multiple-melanoma patient were found either.  相似文献

The oxidation potentials of As0/AsIII and Sb0/SbIII on the gold electrode are very close to each other due to their similar chemistry. Arsenic concentration in seawater is low (10–20 nM), Sb occurring at ∼0.1 time that of As. Methods are shown here for the electroanalytical speciation of inorganic arsenic and inorganic antimony in seawater using a solid gold microwire electrode. Anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) and chronopotentiometry (ASC) are used at pH ≤ 2 and pH 8, using a vibrating gold microwire electrode. Under vibrations, the diffusion layer size at a 5 μm diameter wire is 0.7 μm. The detection limits for the AsIII and SbIII are below 0.1 nM using 2 min and 10 min deposition times respectively. AsIII and SbIII can be determined in acidic conditions (after addition of hydrazine) or at neutral pH. In the latter case, oxidation of As0 to AsIII was found to proceed through a transient AsIII species. Adsorption of this species on the gold electrode at potentials where SbIII diffused away is used for selective deposition of AsIII. Addition of EDTA removes the interfering effect of manganese when analysing AsIII. Imposition of a desorption step for SbIII analysis is required. Total inorganic arsenic (iAs = AsV + AsIII) can be determined without interference from Sb nor mono-methyl arsenious acid (MMA) at 1.6 < pH < 2 using Edep = −1 V. Total inorganic antimony (iSb = SbV + SbIII) is determined at pH 1 using Edep = −1.8 V without interference by As.  相似文献

Direct electrochemical determination of arsenate (AsV) in neutral pH waters is considered impossible due to electro-inactivity of AsV. AsIII on the other hand is readily plated as As0 on a gold electrode and quantified by anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV). We found that the reduction of AsV to AsIII was mediated by elemental Mn on the electrode surface in a novel redox couple in which 2 electrons are exchanged causing the Mn to be oxidised to MnII. Advantage is taken of this redox couple to enable for the first time the electrochemical determination of AsV in natural waters of neutral pH including seawater by ASV using a manganese-coated gold microwire electrode. Thereto Mn is added to excess (∼1 μM Mn) to the water leading to a Mn coating during the deposition of As on the electrode at a deposition potential of −1.3 V. Deposition of As0 from dissolved AsV caused elemental Mn to be re-oxidised to MnII in a 1:1 molar ratio providing evidence for the reaction mechanism. The deposited AsV is subsequently quantified using an ASV scan. AsIII interferes and should be quantified separately at a more positive deposition potential of −0.9 V. Combined inorganic As is quantified after oxidation of AsIII to AsV using hypochlorite. The microwire electrode was vibrated during the deposition step to improve the sensitivity. The detection limit was 0.2 nM AsV using a deposition time of 180 s.  相似文献

Feedback fluid queues play an important role in modeling congestion control mechanisms for packet networks. In this paper we present and analyze a fluid queue with a feedback-based traffic rate adaptation scheme which uses two thresholds. The higher threshold B 1 is used to signal the beginning of congestion while the lower threshold B 2 signals the end of congestion. These two parameters together allow to make the trade-off between maximizing throughput performance and minimizing delay. The difference between the two thresholds helps to control the amount of feedback signals sent to the traffic source. In our model the input source can behave like either of two Markov fluid processes. The first applies as long as the upper threshold B 1 has not been hit from below. As soon as that happens, the traffic source adapts and switches to the second process, until B 2 (smaller than B 1) is hit from above. We analyze the model by setting up the Kolmogorov forward equations, then solving the corresponding balance equations using a spectral expansion, and finally identifying sufficient constraints to solve for the unknowns in the solution. In particular, our analysis yields expressions for the stationary distribution of the buffer occupancy, the buffer delay distribution, and the throughput.  相似文献

A rapid electrochemical stripping chronopotentiometric procedure to determined sulfide in unaltered hydrothermal seawater samples is presented. Sulfide is deposited at −0.25 V (vs Ag/AgCl, KCl 3 M) at a vibrating gold microwire and then stripped through the application of a reductive constant current (typically −2 μA). The hydrodynamic conditions are modulated by vibration allowing a short deposition step, which is shown here to be necessary to minimize H2S volatilization. The limit of detection (LOD) is 30 nM after a deposition step of 7 s. This LOD is in the same range as the most sensitive cathodic voltammetric technique using a mercury drop electrode and is well below those reported previously for other electrodes capable of being implemented in situ.  相似文献

We establish the existence of homoclinic solutions for a class of fourth-order equations which includes the Swift-Hohenberg model and the suspension bridge equation. In the first case, the nonlinearity has three zeros, corresponding to a double-well potential, while in the second case the nonlinearity is asymptotically constant on one side. The Swift-Hohenberg model is a higher-order extension of the classical Fisher-Kolmogorov model. Its more complicated dynamics give rise to further possibilities of pattern formation. The suspension bridge equation was studied by Chen and McKenna (J. Differential Equations136 (1997), 325-355); we give a positive answer to an open question raised by the authors.  相似文献
