Back titration with mercuric nitrate in alkaline : medium volumetric analysis of binary mixtures of the alkaline earths,magnesium, zinc and cadmium

Mercuric nitiate has proved to be suitable for the back titration of the excess amount of EDTA remaining in solution when this compound has reacted quantitatively either with zinc or cadmium in the presence of one of the three elements barium, strontium and magnesium at pH 8 or 9, or with both cations at pH 11. Advantage is taken of this behaviour for analysing binary mixtures of the above mentioned cations by back titration at lower and higher pH's The end-points are detected potentiometrically, reasonable jumps being obtained; the agreement with the theoretical end-points is satisfactory.

Zusammenfassung Es wird eine empfindliche Methode zur photometrischen Bestimmung von Thorium mit Indooxin bei Abwesenheit von Fremdionen mit Ausnahme der Alkali- und Erdalkaliionen beschrieben, die die Bestimmung von 0,1–6 g Th im Milliliter gestattet.Diese Arbeit wurde durch das Entgegenkommen von Herrn Prof. Dr. F. Hecht ermöglicht, dem wir hiermit unseren Dank aussprechen wollen.     

Prolongement d'un courant positif plurisousharmonique

The purpose of this Note is to prove an extension result for a positive plurisubharmonic (Psh) current T defined in the complement of a closed complete pluripolar set A, under the hypothesis that $H_{2p}(\overline{\mathrm{supp}T}\cap A)=0$ and that $d{d}^{c}T$ has a locally finite mass. We prove in the first part an Oka type inequality for a positive Psh current. We then prove an extension result for such a current across an irreductible analytic set, thereby generalizing a result of Siu concerning positive closed current and one of our previous results for a negative Psh current. Effect of Mo–Fe substitution on glass forming ability and thermal stability of Fe–C–B–Mo–Cr–W bulk amorphous alloys

Amorphous Fe_67?xC₁₀B₉Mo_7+xCr₄W₃ (x = 1–7 at.%) plates with 0.64 mm thickness were prepared by copper mold casting. The thermal properties and microstructural development during heat treatments were investigated by a combination of differential scanning calorimetry, differential thermal analysis, and X-ray diffraction. The glass forming ability (GFA) and activation energy for crystallization have a distinct dependence on Mo content. Fe₆₂C₁₀B₉Mo₁₂Cr₄W₃ was the best glass former in this study, demonstrating a supercooled liquid region, ΔT_x = 51 K, and an activation energy for crystallization, Q = 453 kJ/mol. The GFA of alloys in this system was governed by elastic strain optimization resulting directly from the variation in Mo content. Heat treatments were performed to demonstrate resistance to crystallization under typical processing conditions. Alloys in this system exhibited a three phased evolution during crystallization. A second set of heat treatments was performed to identify each phase. An analysis of phase evolution revealed a distinct dependence of phase evolution with stepwise substitution of Mo for Fe in this system.
