Photosynthesis (Pn) and photomorphogenesis (Pm) are affected by light quality, light intensity and photoperiod. Although blue light (BL) is necessary for normal development, it is less efficient in driving Pn than other wavelengths of photosynthetically active radiation. The effects of BL on Pm are highly species dependent. Here we report the interacting effects of BL and photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) on growth and development of lettuce, radish and pepper. We used light‐emitting diode (LED) arrays to provide BL fractions from 11% to 28% under broad‐spectrum white LEDs, and from 0.3% to 92% under monochromatic LEDs. All treatments were replicated three times at each of two PPFs (200 and 500 μmol m?2 s?1). Other than light quality, environmental conditions were uniformly maintained across chambers. Regardless of PPF, BL was necessary to prevent shade‐avoidance responses in radish and lettuce. For lettuce and radish, increasing BL reduced stem length, and for both species, there were significant interactions of BL with PPF for leaf expansion. Increasing BL reduced petiole length in radish and flower number in pepper. BL minimally affected pepper growth and other developmental parameters. Pepper seedlings were more photobiologically sensitive than older plants. Surprisingly, there were few interactions between monochromatic and broad‐spectrum light sources. 相似文献

A series of four new azulene-1,5-diol diastereomers were prepared and found to exhibit large differences (ΔRf 0.22–0.46) in silica TLC mobilities despite having stereocenters four bonds apart. The stereoisomers were identified by X-ray crystallography, and in all cases the RR/SS diastereomers were less strongly retained than the RS/SR diastereomers. The crystal structures suggested that this is due to a conformational preference for the CF3 groups to be nearly perpendicular to the plane of the azulene ring, which caused the dihedral angle between the OH groups to be larger (in the RR/SS diastereomers) or smaller (in the RS/SR diastereomers). The smaller dihedral angles allow the RS/SR diastereomers to simultaneously bind to a silica surface and thus be more strongly retained. Two similar benzene derivatives and several cycloalkanediols with more proximate stereocenters showed little or no difference in mobilities between diastereomers, though the NMR differences were greater. Thus, the azulene ring is an important factor in enforcing the conformational preferences, either through steric interactions with the 4/8 substituents (H or methyl) or its significant dipole moment, or both. 相似文献

The DNA bisintercalator triostin A is structurally based on a disulfide-bridged depsipeptide scaffold that provides preorganization of two quinoxaline units in 10.5 Å distance. Triostin A analogues are synthesized with nucleobase recognition units replacing the quinoxalines and containing two additional recognition units in between. Thus, four nucleobase recognition units are organized on a rigid template, well suited for DNA double strand interactions. The new tetra-nucleobase binders are synthesized as aza-TANDEM derivatives lacking the N-methylation of triostin A and based on a cyclopeptide backbone. Synthesis of two tetra-nucleobase aza-TANDEM derivatives is established, DNA interaction analyzed by microscale thermophoresis, cytotoxic activity studied and a nucleobase sequence dependent self-aggregation investigated by mass spectrometry. 相似文献

Combustion instabilities depend on a variety of parameters and operating conditions. It is known, especially in the field of liquid rocket propulsion, that the pressure loss of an injector has an effect on its dynamics and on the coupling between the combustion chamber and the fuel manifold. However, its influence is not well documented in the technical literature dealing with gas turbine combustion dynamics. Effects of changes in this key design parameter are investigated in the present article by testing different swirlers at constant thermal power on a broad range of injection velocities in a well controlled laboratory scale single injector swirled combustor using liquid fuel. The objective is to study the impact of injection pressure losses on the occurrence and level of combustion instabilities by making use of a set of injectors having nearly the same outlet velocity profiles, the same swirl number and that establish flames that are essentially identical in shape. It is found that combustion oscillations appear on a wider range of operating conditions for injectors with the highest pressure loss, but that the pressure fluctuations caused by thermoacoustic oscillations are greatest when the injector head loss is low. Four types of instabilities coupled by two modes may be distinguished: the first group features a lower frequency, arises when the injector pressure loss is low and corresponds to a weakly coupled chamber-plenum mode. The second group appears in the form of a constant amplitude limit cycle, or as bursts at a slightly higher frequency and is coupled by a chamber mode. Intense ion bombardment at the initial stage of film growth is used to increase the adhesion of nickel and vanadium films
to silicon. The films are deposited by rf magnetron sputtering when a bias potential is applied to a substrate. The adhesion
of metallic films to silicon is substantially increased due to active mixing of the contacting materials and the formation
of a transition layer with a concentration gradient. A correlation between the adhesion of the films and their crystalline
