Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD)-based plasma deposition at atmospheric pressure, using glycidyl methacrylate (GMA, methacrylic acid-[2,3-epoxy-propyl ester]) as a prototype precursor was investigated in order to evaluate the applicability of dielectric barrier discharges to obtain plasma polymers with a high degree of structural retention of the starting precursor. Using pulsed excitation of the discharge, up to about 90% of the epoxy groups of GMA can be retained in plasma polymers obtainableat deposition rates in the order of 3–5nm/s. Preliminary investigations of the mechanism of film formation under pulsed plasma conditions indicate that the reaction of intact monomer molecules withsurface radicals generated during the pulses play a prominent role. 相似文献
We discuss recent developments for studying plasmonic metal nanostructures. Exploiting photons and electrons opens up new capabilities to probe the complete plasmon spectrum including bright and dark modes and related local optical fields at subnanometer spatial resolution. This comprehensive characterization of plasmonic properties of metal nanostructures provides new basic insight into the fundamental physics of “surface enhanced” spectroscopy in hottest hot spots and enables us to optimize plasmon supported processes and devices. 相似文献
A new multistate local CC2 response method for calculating excitation energies and first-order properties of excited triplet states in extended molecular systems is presented. The Laplace transform technique is employed to partition the left/right local CC2 eigenvalue problems as well as the linear equations determining the Lagrange multipliers needed for the properties. The doubles part in the equations can then be inverted on-the-fly and only effective equations for the singles part must be solved iteratively. The local approximation presented here is adaptive and state-specific. The density-fitting method is utilized to approximate the electron-repulsion integrals. The accuracy of the new method is tested by comparison to canonical reference values for a set of 12 test molecules and 62 excited triplet states. As an illustrative application example, the lowest four triplet states of 3-(5-(5-(4-(bis(4-(hexyloxy)phenyl)amino)phenyl)thiophene-2-yl)thiophene-2-yl)-2-cyanoacrylic acid, an organic sensitizer for solar-cell applications, are computed in the present work. No triplet charge-transfer states are detected among these states. This situation contrasts with the singlet states of this molecule, where the lowest singlet state has been recently found to correspond to an excited state with a pronounced charge-transfer character having a large transition strength. 相似文献
Sensitive and detailed molecular structural information plays an increasing role in molecular biophysics and molecular medicine. Therefore, vibrational spectroscopic techniques, such as Raman scattering, which provide high structural information content are of growing interest in biophysical and biomedical research. Raman spectroscopy can be revolutionized when the inelastic scattering process takes place in the very close vicinity of metal nanostructures. Under these conditions, strongly increased Raman signals can be obtained due to resonances between optical fields and the collective oscillations of the free electrons in the metal. This effect of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) allows us to push vibrational spectroscopy to new limits in detection sensitivity, lateral resolution, and molecular structural selectivity. This opens up exciting perspectives also in molecular biospectroscopy. This article highlights three directions where SERS can offer interesting new capabilities. This includes SERS as a technique for detecting and tracking a single molecule, a SERS-based nanosensor for probing the chemical composition and the pH value in a live cell, and the effect of so-called surface-enhanced Raman optical activity, which provides information on the chiral organization of molecules on surfaces. 相似文献
Coming to the surface : The surface composition of carbon‐supported Pt3Co catalyst particles changes upon a CO‐annealing treatment. Platinum atoms segregate to the particle surface so that nanoparticles with a platinum shell surrounding an alloy core are formed. This modified catalyst has a superior activity in the oxygen reduction reaction compared to both a plain platinum catalyst and the untreated alloy particles.
Enzymes cleaving the biopolymer adhesives of fouling organisms are attracting attention for the prevention of biofouling. We report a versatile and robust method to confine the serine protease Subtilisin A (or Subtilisin Carlsberg) to surfaces to be protected against biofouling. The approach consists of the covalent immobilization of the protease onto maleic anhydride copolymer thin film coatings. High‐swelling poly(ethylene‐alt‐maleic anhydride) (PEMA) copolymer layers permitted significantly higher enzyme loadings and activities than compact poly(octadecene‐alt‐maleic anhydride) (POMA) films. Substantial fractions of the immobilized, active enzyme layers were found to be conserved upon storage in deionized water for several hours. Ongoing studies explore the potentialities of the developed bioactive coatings to reduce the adhesion of various fouling organisms.
We investigate the solvability of the instationary Stokes equations with fully inhomogeneous data in , where is a Bessel-potential space with a Muckenhoupt weight w. Depending on the order of this Bessel-potential space we are dealing with strong solutions or with very weak solutions.
Whereas in the context of lowest regularity one obtains solvability with respect to inhomogeneous data by dualization, this
is more delicate in the case of higher regularity, where one has to introduce some additional time regularity. As a preparation,
we introduce a generalization of the Stokes operator that is appropriate to the context of very weak solutions in weighted
Bessel-potential spaces.

Phenalinolactones are terpene glycosides with antibacterial activity. A striking structural feature is a highly oxidized gamma-butyrolactone of elusive biosynthetic origin. To investigate the genetic basis of the phenalinolactones biosynthesis, we cloned and sequenced the corresponding gene cluster from the producer strain Streptomyces sp. Tü6071. Spanning a 42 kbp region, 35 candidate genes could be assigned to putatively encode biosynthetic, regulatory, and resistance-conferring functions. Targeted gene inactivations were carried out to specifically manipulate the phenalinolactones pathway. The inactivation of a sugar methyltransferase gene and a cytochrome P450 monoxygenase gene led to the production of modified phenalinolactone derivatives. The inactivation of a Fe(II)/alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase gene disrupted the biosynthetic pathway within gamma-butyrolactone formation. The structure elucidation of the accumulating intermediate indicated that pyruvate is the biosynthetic precursor of the gamma butyrolactone moiety. 相似文献
