Extended systems driven through strong disorder are modeled generically using coarse-grained degrees of freedom that interact elastically in the directions parallel to the drive and slip along at least one of the directions transverse to the motion. In the limit of infinite-range elastic and viscous coupling this model has a tricritical point separating a region where the depinning is continuous, in the universality class of elastic depinning, from a region where depinning is hysteretic. Many of the collective transport models discussed in the literature are special cases of the generic model.  相似文献

A procedure is demonstrated to quantitatively evaluate the acoustic radiation forces in microfluidic particle manipulation chambers. Typical estimates of the acoustic pressure and the acoustic radiation force are based on an analytical solution for a simple one-dimensional standing wave pattern. The complexities of a typical microfluidic channel limit the usefulness of this approach. By leveraging finite elements, and a generalized equation for the acoustic radiation force, channel designs can be investigated in two and three dimensions. Calculations and experimental observations in this report and the literature, confirm these claims.  相似文献

Cyclic ethers are important intermediates in the oxidation of hydrocarbons and biofuels. Studying the oxidation and pyrolysis of cyclic ethers will help in improving our understanding of this functional group and provide consistency to the base mechanism where they play an important role. In this aspect, propylene oxide has been investigated in this study by obtaining ignition delay time measurements in the rapid compression machine and shock tube. The experiments were performed in a range of pressures varying from 10 to 40 bar at different equivalence ratios (0.5–2.0) and dilution percentages. Additionally, speciation measurements in the shock tube at pyrolysis conditions have been performed at a pressure of 40 bar to explore the isomerization pathways. A detailed kinetic mechanism was developed to describe both the oxidation and pyrolysis chemistry of propylene oxide. The mechanism is not only able to predict the data obtained from this study but also reproduces the data from the literature in a consistent trend. For a better understanding of the oxidation and pyrolysis chemistry of propylene oxide, the kinetic analyses were performed using the developed mechanism to comprehend the important reaction pathways and sensitive reactions. At the investigated regime, the consumption of propylene oxide through its isomerization channels is the critical pathway that controls the reactivity of the fuel.  相似文献

The modern catalytic or enzymatic advances allow the production of novel biofuel. Among them, 1,3-dioxolane can be produced from formaldehyde and ethylene glycol, both can be obtained from biomass. In this study, the oxidation of 1,3-dioxolane is studied at stoichiometric conditions. The ignition delay times of 1,3-dioxolane/O2/inert mixtures were measured in a shock tube and in a rapid compression machine at pressures of 20 to 40 bar and temperatures ranging from 630 to 1300 K. The pressure profiles recorded in the rapid compression machine show a first stage of ignition enlightening the influence of the low temperature chemistry of combustion. Furthermore, mole fraction profiles of the stable intermediates produced during the oxidation of 1,3-dioxolane were measured in a jet-stirred reactor at 10 bar. Following these observations, a detailed kinetic model was developed with reaction rate coefficients and thermochemical data calculated by theoretical calculations or estimated by analogies to suitable molecules. In order to get an insight into the most important reaction pathways brute force sensitivity analysis and reaction pathway analysis were performed with the proposed model and discussed. It became clear that in the fuel-in-air case for the alkylhydroperoxide of 1,3-dioxolane the ring opening beta-scission pathway is favored against the further alkane-like second addition to molecular oxygen, which leads to a limited negative temperature coefficient.  相似文献

In this paper we discuss the diffeomorphism classification of finite group actions on disks. We answer the question when an action on a space M can be extended to an action on a disk such that the action is free away from M. Let the singular set consist of the points with nontrivial isotropy group. We show (under some dimension assumptions) that disks with diffeomorphic neighborhoods of the singular set can be imbedded into each other. As a consequence we find a classification of group actions on disks in terms of the neighborhood of the singular set and an element in the Whitehead group of G.  相似文献

We use a driving field, of the type first suggested by Evans, to generate a steady heat current in the simplest possible system, a two-dimensional periodic fluid of three hard disks. Hard-disk motion equations can be conveniently derived from repulsive constant-force or linear-force potentials by considering the infinitely repulsive limit of these potentials. We show that the isoenergetic and isokinetic forms of the nonequilibrium equations of motion generate steady-state heat conductivities differing by terms of order 1/N, whereN is the number of particles. The resulting conductivities appear to vary as the logarithm of the driving field strength. Even at low fields, the three-body periodic-system results lie well below Enskog's infinite-system prediction.  相似文献

Pyramidal microcavities are a new class of optical resonators with potentially small mode volume and high quality factor. Our GaAs pyramids with embedded InGaAs quantum dots are placed on top of GaAs/AlAs distributed Bragg reflectors to increase the optical confinement at the base of the pyramids. The pyramidal shape is achieved by a wet-chemical etching process using an AlAs sacrificial layer. Temperature-dependent micro-photoluminescence measurements are used to verify optical modes.  相似文献

We investigate a set of transparent organic LEDs (TOLEDs) with different organic capping layer (OC) thicknesses to understand the capping layer effect. We find that thickness variation of the OC strongly influences the emission properties of TOLEDs and exhibits different trends for top or bottom emission. The external quantum efficiency for the top side can be enhanced by a factor of 63%, but that of the bottom side only by 4% compared to a reference device without an OC. Additionally, we demonstrate that the introduction of the OC is an effective method to control the bottom-to-top emission ratio within a measured range from 2.87 to 6.05.  相似文献
