Received February 18, 2005 We report the fabrication of phase-shifted long-period fiber gratings by use of a CO2 laser with a surface deformation technique and a point-by-point method. Due to periodicities that are structurally induced by a heat source and refractive-index modulation caused by a perturbational photoelastic effect, the results of thermal testing show a grating temperature coefficient of 28 pm/ degrees C at a range from 22 to 180 degrees C, indicating that the band rejections of the grating that is formed remain unchanged in their resonant strengths even at temperatures up to the fictive point of fiberglass. It is found for what is believed to be the first time that such a grating possesses an anomalous strain behavior of resonance with -1.52 x 10(-4) dB/muepsilon for the right notch and 7.05 x 10(-5) dB/muepsilon for the left notch.  相似文献

Two π-phase shifts are introduced in a uniform fiber Bragg grating (FBG) structure and a dual-transmission-band opens in the stopband of FBG. When incorporating this kind of FBG filter in a fiber ring cavity with a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) acted as gain medium, a stable dual-wavelength lasing with wavelength spacing of 0.032, 0.052 and 0.068 nm is achieved, respectively. Diruthenium tetracarboxylates monocations are utilized as building blocks for cubic 3-D network structured molecule-based magnets. [Ru(II/III)(2)(O(2)CMe)(4)](3)[M(III)(CN)(6)] [M = Cr (1a), Fe (2), Co (3)] were prepared in aqueous solution. Powder X-ray diffraction indicates that they have body-centered cubic structures (space group = Imm, a = 13.34, 13.30, and 13.10 A for 1a, 2, and 3, respectively), which was confirmed for 1a by Reitveld analysis of the synchrotron powder data [a = 13.3756(5) A]. [Ru(2)(O(2)CMe)(4)](3)[M(III)(CN)(6)].xMeCN [M = Cr, x = 1.8 (1b); M = Mn, x = 3.3 (4)] were prepared from acetonitrile. The magnetic ordering of 1a (33 K), 1b (34.5 K), 2 (2.1 K), and 4 (9.6 K) was determined from the temperature dependencies of the in-phase (chi') alternating current (AC) susceptibility. The field dependence of the magnetization, M(H), at 2 K for 1a showed an unusual constricted hysteresis loop with a coercive field, H(cr), of 470 Oe while the M(H) data for 1b, 2, and 4 showed a normal hysteresis loop with a coercive field of 1670, 10, and 990 Oe, respectively. The (57)Fe M?ssbauer spectrum of 2 is consistent with the presence of low spin Fe(III) (delta = -0.05 mm/s; DeltaE = 0.33 mm/s) at room temperature, and the onset of 3-D magnetic ordering at lower temperature (<2 K). The effects of M(III) in [M(III)(CN)(6)](3-), and the large zero-field splitting (D) of diruthenium tetracarboxylates are discussed. The increasing critical temperatures T(c), with increasing S could not be accounted for by mean field models without significantly different J values for 1a, 4, and 2. By fitting the T(c) data with mean field models [H = -2JS(Ru).(S(M) - micro(B)(g(Ru)S(Ru) + g(M)S(M))H], J/k(B) are 4.46, 1.90, and 0.70 K for 1a, 4, and 2, respectively.  相似文献

We demonstrate improved atomic force microscopic imaging of surfactant surface aggregates, featuring an increase in the topography contrast by several hundred percent with respect to all previous studies. Surfactant aggregates on rough gold surfaces, which could not be imaged previously because of low resolution, display substantially different morphologies when compared with atomically smooth materials.  相似文献

We present a novel approach for fabricating monodisperse phospholipid vesicles with high encapsulation efficiency using controlled double emulsions as templates. Glass-capillary microfluidics is used to generate monodisperse double emulsion templates. We show that the high uniformity in size and shape of the templates are maintained in the final phospholipid vesicles after a solvent removal step. Our simple and versatile technique is applicable to a wide range of phospholipids.  相似文献

In eukaryotic cells, the membraneless organelles (MLOs) formed via liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) are found to interact intimately with membranous organelles (MOs). One major mode is the clustering of MOs by MLOs, such as the formation of clusters of synaptic vesicles at nerve terminals mediated by the synapsin-rich MLOs. Aqueous droplets, including complex coacervates and aqueous two-phase systems, have been plausible MLO-mimics to emulate or elucidate biological processes. However, neither of them can cluster lipid vesicles (LVs) like MLOs. In this work, we develop a synthetic droplet assembled from a combination of two different interactions underlying the formation of these two droplets, namely, associative and segregative interactions, which we call segregative-associative (SA) droplets. The SA droplets cluster and disperse LVs recapitulating the key functional features of synapsin condensates, which can be attributed to the weak electrostatic interaction environment provided by SA droplets. This work suggests LLPS with combined segregative and associative interactions as a possible route for synaptic clustering of lipid vesicles and highlights SA droplets as plausible MLO-mimics and models for studying and mimicking related cellular dynamics.  相似文献
