Magnetic seed enhancement has been practicing as a promising tool to improve germination and seedling growth of low vigor seeds stored under suboptimal conditions, but there is still ambiguity regarding the prospects for magnetism in oilseeds. Present study elucidates the potential of magnetic seed stimulation to improve sunflower germination, growth and yield. Germination and emergence tests were performed to optimize the strength of the magnetic field to sunflower seed enhancement. The seeds were directly exposed to magnetic field strengths of 50, 100 and 150 millitesla (mT) for 5, 10 and 15 min (min) and then standard germination tests were performed. Secondly, the emergence potential of untreated seeds was compared with seed exposed to hydropriming, priming with 3% moringa leaf extract (MLE), priming with magnetically treated water (MTW) for 10 min and priming with 3% MLE solution prepared in magnetically treated water (MTW + MLE). Germination, emergence, seedling growth and seed biochemical properties were used to select the best treatment for field evaluation. The results of the study revealed that magnetic seed treatment with 100 mT for 10 min and seed priming with 3% MLE solution in magnetically treated water (MTW + MLE) significantly improved emergence, crop growth rate and sunflower yield.  相似文献

We present a study of electric, thermal, and thermoelectric transport in elemental bismuth, which presents a Nernst coefficient much larger than what was found in correlated metals. We argue that this is due to the combination of an exceptionally low carrier density with a very long electronic mean-free path. The low thermomagnetic figure of merit is traced to the lightness of electrons. Heavy-electron semimetals, which keep a metallic behavior in the presence of a magnetic field, emerge as promising candidates for thermomagnetic cooling at low temperatures.  相似文献

Using the most recent differential cross section data for e-p quasi-elastic scattering, the charged pion formation and its form factor Fπ is calculated in the energy range of 2.4-4 GeV at Q^2 = 0.6-1.6 (GeV/c)^2. The functional dependence of the charged pion form factor to the separated cross section aL is investigated and compared to the previously determined result.  相似文献

Cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality in the world. Unfortunately, the present anticancer chemotherapeutics display high cytotoxicity. Accordingly, the discovery of new anticancer agents with lower side effects is highly necessitated. This study aimed to discover an anticancer compound from Hemiscorpius lepturus scorpion venom. Bioactivity-guided chromatography was performed to isolate an active compound against colon and breast cancer cell lines. 2D electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF were performed to identify the molecule. A partial protein sequence was obtained by mass spectrometry, while the full-length was deciphered using a cDNA library of the venom gland by bioinformatics analyses and was designated as leptulipin. The gene was cloned in pET-26b, expressed, and purified. The anticancer effect and mechanism action of leptulipin were evaluated by MTT, apoptosis, and cell cycle assays, as well as by gene expression analysis of apoptosis-related genes. The treated cells displayed inhibition of cell proliferation, altered morphology, DNA fragmentation, and cell cycle arrest. Furthermore, the treated cells showed a decrease in BCL-2 expression and an increase in Bax and Caspase 9 genes. In this study, we discovered a new anticancer protein from H. lepturus scorpion venom. Leptulipin showed significant anticancer activity against breast and colon cancer cell lines.  相似文献

Reactive oxygen species are formed in the human body but can be removed by suitable antioxidants. In this study we synthesized and characterized three ferrocene derivatives, 4‐ferrocenylaniline (pFA), 3‐ferrocenylaniline (mFA) and 3‐methyl‐4‐ferrocenylaniline (MeFA), having significant potential to be used as antioxidants. The synthesized compounds are insoluble in water, with the solubility of these compounds increasing in micelle solution. The micelle and reverse micelle solutions were considered as model membranes. The synthesized compounds were probed on the model membranes, made by sodium dioctylsulfosuccinate reverse micelle and tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide micelle, using 1H NMR spectroscopy. The 1H NMR results indicated that these compounds are present in the polar region of the model membrane interface. Quantitative measurements showed that mFA has the greatest ability to penetrate into the micelle membrane among these compounds, and pFA is least penetrating in this respect. Solubilization of these compounds in aqueous micelle solution facilitates crystallization (of mFA) and enhances the antioxidant potential of these compounds. X‐ray crystal structure analysis revealed that mFA captures water molecules during crystallization in micelle solution. Their ability to act as antioxidants was evaluated, in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and in micelle solution, using standard 1,1‐ diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. It was found that their antioxidant potential is good in DMSO and that potential increases on the interface of the model membrane. The highest increase (by 19.6%) in the antioxidant potential, on the model membrane interface, was observed for mFA.  相似文献

Rigorous assessment of heterogeneous electrocatalysts for electrochemical water splitting has been a critical issue mainly due to insufficient standard protocols to measure and report experimental data. In this perspective, we highlight some common pitfalls when measuring and reporting electrocatalytic data, which should be avoided to ensure the accuracy and reproducibility and to advance the water splitting field. We advocate to prevent the introduction of artefacts from the counter and reference electrodes, as well as the impurities in the electrolyte when conducting electrocatalyst activity measurements. In addition, we encourage the use of the electrochemically active surface area(ECSA)-normalized current densities to represent the intrinsic activity of the reported catalysts for a better comparison with previously known materials. Suitable ECSA measurement methods should be employed based on the nature of catalysts. Recommendations made in this perspective will hopefully assist in identifying advanced catalysts for water splitting research.  相似文献

Green conversion of three‐dimensional organometallic [Ag26‐tp)]n ( 1 ) coordination polymer (CP) nanosheets, prepared by sonochemical procedure, to three‐dimensional organometallic [Ag24‐tp)(apy)2]n ( 2 ) (where H2tp = terephthalic acid and apy = 2‐aminopyridine) CP nanoparticles has been observed upon solid‐state mechanochemical reaction of compound 1 with 2‐aminopyridine. The AgO3 Ag ···C6 coordination sphere of silver ion in 1 changed to NO2 Ag ···C coordination sphere in 2 during this mechanochemical addition. These samples were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses, X‐ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.  相似文献
