L‐error estimates for finite element for Galerkin solutions for the Benjamin‐Bona‐Mahony‐Burgers (BBMB) equation are considered. A priori bound and the semidiscrete Galerkin scheme are studied using appropriate projections. For fully discrete Galerkin schemes, we consider the backward Euler method and analyze the corresponding error estimates. The melt state viscoelastic properties of styrene–acrylonitrile random copolymers grafted to silica nanoparticles and prepared by in situ atom transfer radical polymerization are examined. Linear dynamic oscillatory viscoelastic measurements indicate that nanocomposites with silica contents as low as 1.2 vol % exhibit solid‐like response. Steady shear results in considerable alteration to the mesoscale structure and results in the failure of the Cox‐Merz rule. Flow reversal studies confirm the elastic nature of the mesoscale structure and demonstrate that the relaxation of the flow altered structure is slow, non‐Brownian, and possibly cooperative. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Mg (MgH2)-based composites, using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and pre-synthesized titanium based complex (TCat) as the catalysts, were prepared by high energy ball milling technique. The use of both catalysts demonstrated markedly improved the hydrogen storage performance, e.g. a significant increase of hydrogen release rate and decrease of desorption temperature. The synthesized composites can absorb almost 6 wt% of hydrogen within 3 min at 200 °C and desorb 6 wt% hydrogen in 10 min at 310 °C. The influence of CNTs and TCat on desorption temperature was also investigated by using temperature programmed desorption (TPD). The TPD results reveal that the peak desorption temperature and the onset temperature can be lowered by 109 °C and 155 °C, respectively, compared to the non-catalyzed MgH2. The reaction enthalpy and entropy of hydrogen desorption for the synthesized MgH2-based composites are calculated by the van’t Hoff analysis to be 73.1 kJ/mol H2 and 130.2 J/mol H2 K, respectively.  相似文献

A novel strategy involving Olive Leaf Extract (OLE) and Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) was developed as a green antimicrobial treatment. Specifically, we reported a preliminary investigation on the combined use of OLE + CAP against three pathogens, chosen to represent medical and food industries (i.e., E. coli, S. aureus and L. innocua). The results indicated that a concentration of 100 mg/mL (total polyphenols) in OLE can exert an antimicrobial activity, but still insufficient for a total bacterial inactivation. By using plain OLE, we significantly reduced the growth of Gram positive S. aureus and L. innocua, but not Gram-negative E. coli. Instead, we demonstrated a remarkable decontamination effect of OLE + CAP in E. coli, S. aureus and L. innocua samples after 6 h. This effect was optimally maintained up to 24 h in S. aureus strain. E. coli and L. innocua grew again in 24 h. In the latter strain, OLE alone was most effective to significantly reduce bacterial growth. By further adjusting the parameters of OLE + CAP technology, e.g., OLE amount and CAP exposure, it could be possible to prolong the initial powerful decontamination over a longer time. Since OLE derives from a bio-waste and CAP is a non-thermal technology based on ionized air, we propose OLE + CAP as a potential green platform for bacterial decontamination. As a combination, OLE and CAP can lead to better antimicrobial activity than individually and may replace or complement conventional thermal procedures in food and biomedical industries.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The first principles calculations of structural and magnetic properties of the Heusler material Mn2NiAl, have been studied using a full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) within the density-functional theory (DFT). The phase stability of the cubic austenitic (L21) structure for Mn2NiAl in both Cu2MnAl (Fm3?m space group) and Hg2CuTi (F43?m space group) type of structures with ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic states, has been treated by applying the generalized gradient approximation proposed by Wu and Cohen (WC-GGA) alongside with the martensitic structure of Mn2NiAl. The analysis of phase stability, cohesive energy and the calculated formation enthalpy of Mn2NiAl reveal that the ferromagnetic MnMnNiAl is the most stable type of structure. Moreover, the calculated lattice parameters are found to be in good agreement with theoretical data. The variation of total magnetic moments MTB), MMnB), MNiB) and MAlB) in Mn2NiAl with pressure at varying temperature (0, 273 and 344?K), have been calculated.  相似文献

Abstract

Electron scattering mechanisms have been investigated in Se- and S-doped GaxIn1-xSb alloys by measuring the Hall mobilities as a function of hydrostatic pressures up to 25 kbar at temperatures down to 4.2 K. The analysis of the data shows that the Brooks-Herring theory of ionized impurities scattering could fit the experimental variations only overa narrow range of low pressures before carrier freeze-out into a resonant impurity level sets in. At higher pressures, good agreement between theory and experiment could be obtained by introducing an additional scattering mechanism due to the short-range central cell impurity potential.  相似文献
