A series of luminescent platinum(II) complexes of tridentate 1,3‐bis(N‐alkylbenzimidazol‐2′‐yl)benzene (bzimb) ligands has been synthesized and characterized. One of these platinum(II) complexes has been structurally characterized by X‐ray crystallography. Their electrochemical, electronic absorption, and luminescence properties have been investigated. Computational studies have been performed on this class of complexes to elucidate the origin of their photophysical properties. Some of these complexes have been utilized in the fabrication of organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) by using either vapor deposition or spin‐coating techniques. Chloroplatinum(II)? bzimb complexes that are functionalized at the 5‐position of the aryl ring, [Pt(R‐bzimb)Cl], not only show tunable emission color but also exhibit high current and external quantum efficiencies in OLEDs. Concentration‐dependent dual‐emissive behavior was observed in multilayer OLEDs upon the incorporation of pyrenyl ligand into the Pt(bzimb) system. Devices doped with low concentrations of the complexes gave rise to white‐light emission, thereby representing a unique class of small‐molecule, platinum(II)‐based white OLEDs.  相似文献

The development of molecular frameworks derived from binuclear platinum(II) aromatic Schiff base (salphen) complexes and their supramolecular chemistry have been undertaken. A series of axially rotating (Pt‐salphen)2 luminophores, tethered in a cofacial manner by a rigid linker (xanthene, 1 ; dibenzofuran, 2 ; biphenylene, 3 ), was synthesized in which the O(salphen) groups are potentially amenable for guest‐binding. The molecular structures of 1 and 3 have been determined by X‐ray crystallography, revealing intra‐ and intermolecular π‐stacking interactions, as well as contrasting syn ( 1 ) and anti ( 3 ) configurations, for the (Pt‐salphen)2 moiety. All complexes are luminescent in solution at room temperature. Their photophysical and solvatochromic properties have been examined, and the emissions are assigned to mixed triplet O(p)/Pt(d)→π*(diimine) excited states. The red‐shifted fluid emissions and lower quantum yields of 1 and 3 , relative to 2 , are ascribed to enhanced intramolecular π‐stacking interactions. Photophysical changes and selective responses to metal ions (particularly Pb2+) have been investigated by using various spectroscopic methods and DFT calculations, and through comparative studies with control complexes. A plausible binding mechanism is proposed based on occupation of the O(salphen)‐binding cavity, which induces perturbation of intramolecular π–π interactions, and hence the self‐quenching and emission properties, of the (Pt‐salphen)2 unit.  相似文献

A method was developed for high-throughput determinations of 7 elements in food samples, namely antimony (Sb), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and tin (Sn). The samples were digested by closed-vessel microwave-assisted digestion using concentrated nitric acid (HNO3) as the medium, followed by microwave- assisted evaporation to concentrate the sample solutions before dilution to the desired volume. The microwave-assisted evaporation procedure effectively reduced the final acid concentration to around 8% before analysis by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). This reduction allows determination by ICP-MS to proceed without further sample dilution, which would affect the detection limit. The method was validated, and method recoveries for As, Cd, Cr, Pb, and Hg were within the certified ranges of the chosen certified reference materials. Recoveries of the 7 elements from spiked samples ranged from 93.1 to 103.6%. The standard uncertainties of precision for the 7 elements were between 3.1 and 4.3%. Interlaboratory comparison studies for As, Cd, and Pb gave z-scores ranging from -0.2 to 0.3.  相似文献

A total synthesis of tiacumicin B, a natural macrolide whose remarkable antibiotic properties are used to treat severe intestinal infections, is reported. The strategy is in part based on the prior synthesis of the tiacumicin B aglycone, and on the decisive use of sulfoxides as anomeric leaving groups in hydrogen-bond-mediated aglycone delivery (HAD). This new HAD variant permitted highly β-selective rhamnosylation and noviosylation. To increase convergence, the rhamnosylated C1–C3 fragment thus obtained was anchored to the C4–C19 aglycone fragment by adapting the Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling used for the aglycone synthesis. Ring-size-selective macrolactonization provided a compound engaged directly in the noviolysation step with virtually total β selectivity. The final efficient removal of all the protecting groups provided synthetic tiacumicin B.  相似文献

The growing importance of lipidomics, and the interest of non‐enzymatic metabolites of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) prompted us to initiate the synthesis of novel dihomo‐IsoF compounds. Such metabolites of adrenic acid, the main PUFA in white matter, were synthesized using a divergent approach based on an orthoester cyclization. LC‐MS/MS investigation on pig brains showed the potential of this novel biomarker for the first time, as a powerful new tool for brain lipid peroxidation assessment.  相似文献

A major cause of supported metal catalyst deactivation is particle growth by Ostwald ripening. Nickel catalysts, used in the methanation reaction, may suffer greatly from this through the formation of [Ni(CO)4]. By analyzing catalysts with various particle sizes and spatial distributions, the interparticle distance was found to have little effect on the stability, because formation and decomposition of nickel carbonyl rather than diffusion was rate limiting. Small particles (3–4 nm) were found to grow very large (20–200 nm), involving local destruction of the support, which was detrimental to the catalyst stability. However, medium sized particles (8 nm) remained confined by the pores of the support displaying enhanced stability, and an activity 3 times higher than initially small particles after 150 h. Physical modeling suggests that the higher [Ni(CO)4] supersaturation in catalysts with smaller particles enabled them to overcome the mechanical resistance of the support. Understanding the interplay of particle size and support properties related to the stability of nanoparticles offers the prospect of novel strategies to develop more stable nanostructured materials, also for applications beyond catalysis.  相似文献

Detailed understandings of the reaction mechanisms of RNA catalysis in various environments can have profound importance for many applications, ranging from the design of new biotechnologies to the unraveling of the evolutionary origin of life. An integral step in the nucleolytic RNA catalysis is self‐cleavage of RNA strands by 2′‐O‐transphosphorylation. Key to elucidating a reaction mechanism is determining the molecular structure and bonding characteristics of transition state. A direct and powerful probe of transition state is measuring isotope effects on biochemical reactions, particularly if we can reproduce isotope effect values from quantum calculations. This article significantly extends the scope of our previous joint experimental and theoretical work in examining isotope effects on enzymatic and nonenzymatic 2′‐O‐transphosphorylation reaction models that mimic reactions catalyzed by RNA enzymes (ribozymes), and protein enzymes such as ribonuclease A (RNase A). Native reactions are studied, as well as reactions with thio substitutions representing chemical modifications often used in experiments to probe mechanism. Here, we report and compare results from eight levels of electronic‐structure calculations for constructing the potential energy surfaces in kinetic and equilibrium isotope effects (KIE and EIE) computations, including a “gold‐standard” coupled‐cluster level of theory [CCSD(T)]. In addition to the widely used Bigeleisen equation for estimating KIE and EIE values, internuclear anharmonicity and quantum tunneling effects were also computed using our recently developed ab initio path‐integral method, that is, automated integration‐free path‐integral method. The results of this work establish an important set of benchmarks that serve to guide calculations of KIE and EIE for RNA catalysis. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The oxidation of alkanes and arylalkanes by KMnO(4) in CH(3)CN is greatly accelerated by the presence of just a few equivalents of BF(3), the reaction occurring readily at room temperature. Carbonyl compounds are the predominant products in the oxidation of secondary C-H bonds. Spectrophotometric and kinetics studies show that BF(3) forms an adduct with KMnO(4) in CH(3)CN, [BF(3).MnO(4)](-), which is the active species responsible for the oxidation of C-H bonds. The rate constant for the oxidation of toluene by [BF(3).MnO(4)](-) is over 7 orders of magnitude faster than by MnO(4)(-) alone. The kinetic isotope effects for the oxidation of cyclohexane, toluene, and ethylbenzene at 25.0 degrees C are as follows: k(C6H12)/k(C6D12) = 5.3 +/- 0.6, k(C7H8)/k(C7D8) = 6.8 +/- 0.5, k(C8H10)/k(C8D10) = 7.1 +/- 0.5. The rate-limiting step for all of these reactions is most likely hydrogen-atom transfer from the substrate to an oxo group of the adduct. A good linear correlation between log(rate constant) and C-H bond energies of the hydrocarbons is found. The accelerating effect of BF(3) on the oxidation of methane by MnO(4)(-) has been studied computationally by the Density Functional Theory (DFT) method. A significant decrease in the reaction barrier results from BF(3) coordination to MnO(4)(-). The BF(3) coordination increases the ability of the Mn metal center to achieve a d(1) Mn(VI) electron configuration in the transition state. Calculations also indicate that the species [2BF(3).MnO(4)](-) is more reactive than [BF(3).MnO(4)](-).  相似文献

The effect of film thickness on the structural conformation of the surfaces of the amorphous state, edge‐on lamellae and flat‐on lamellae of a semiflexible polymer, poly(bisphenol‐A‐etheroctane), was investigated by time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF‐SIMS) with the aid of principal component analysis (PCA). PCA results empirically indicate that a structurally regular polymer surface was obtained with the formation of the flat‐on lamellae from the amorphous state at a low degree of supercooling. A higher concentration of end group and cilium ion fragments, which are indicative of free chain ends, was observed on the edge‐on lamellar surfaces than on the amorphous and the flat‐on lamellar surfaces. This finding was attributed to the fact that the lateral surface of the edge‐on lamellae contains many growth fronts, leaving behind a large number of uncrystallized chain remnants on the surfaces. Structural disorder was facilitated on both edge‐on and flat‐on lamellar surfaces as the film thickness decreased. Hence, this PCA study offers new insights into the nonequilibrium nature of polymer crystals and the mechanism of polymer crystallization in thin and ultrathin films.
