We study the cohomology of a locally finite, connected, cocommutative Hopf algebra over . Specifically, we are interested in those algebras for which is generated as an algebra by and . We shall call such algebras semi-Koszul. Given a central extension of Hopf algebras with monogenic and semi-Koszul, we use the Cartan-Eilenberg spectral sequence and algebraic Steenrod operations to determine conditions for to be semi-Koszul. Special attention is given to the case in which is the restricted universal enveloping algebra of the Lie algebra obtained from the mod- lower central series of a -group. We show that the algebras arising in this way from extensions by of an abelian -group are semi-Koszul. Explicit calculations are carried out for algebras arising from rank 2 -groups, and it is shown that these are all semi-Koszul for .

Physiological work on fish sound production may require exposure of the swimbladder to air, which will change its loading (radiation mass and resistance) and could affect parameters of emitted sounds. This issue was examined in Atlantic croaker Micropogonius chromis by recording sounds from the same individuals in air and water. Although sonograms appear relatively similar in both cases, pulse duration is longer because of decreased damping, and sharpness of tuning (Q factor) is higher in water. However, pulse repetition rate and dominant frequency are unaffected. With appropriate caution it is suggested that sounds recorded in air can provide a useful tool in understanding the function of various swimbladder adaptations and provide reasonable approximation of natural sounds. Further, they provide an avenue for experimentally manipulating the sonic system, which can reveal details of its function not available from intact fish underwater. 相似文献

A solution of gold chloride was reduced using ultrasound irradiation to prepare metallic gold nanoparticles under conditions of microgravity and normal gravity at sea level. Particle size distributions were measured using TEM analysis. A mean particle diameter of 10 nm was obtained in microgravity while a mean diameter of 80 nm was obtained in the laboratory. The first water-soluble beta-octafluorinated porphyrins, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18- octafluoroporphyrin, 1, and 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(2,6-difluoro-3-sulfonatophenyl)-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18- octafluoroporphyrin, 2, have been prepared and their aqueous aggregation, acid-base, and optical properties have been characterized. The porphyrins are tetraanionic at neutral pH (at pH = 3-11 for 1 and pH = 0-9 for 2). Semiempirical (AM1) calculations provide evidence that somewhat unusual acidity characteristics of the fluorinated compounds (with respect to similar brominated porphyrins) can be rationalized solely on the basis of chemical hardness and electronegativity arguments. These results indicate that the large conformational differences seen in the structures of brominated and fluorinated water-soluble porphyrins have little impact upon N-H acidity. Metalation of 1 and 2 with ZnCl2 yielded the zinc complexes, which were characterized by optical spectroscopy and electrochemistry. 相似文献

Three chiral diamines were synthesised and evaluated as sparteine surrogates in the lithiation-substitution of N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)pyrrolidine. The synthesis and attempted resolution of sparteine-like diamines [(1S*,2R*,8R*)-10-methyl-6,10-diazatricyclo[6.3.1.0(2,6)]dodecane and (1S*,2R*,9R*)-11-methyl-7,11-diazatricyclo[7.3.1.0(2,7)]tridecane] (via inclusion complex formation) are reported. Unfortunately, it was only possible to resolve the diazatricyclo[7.3.1.0(2,7)]tridecane compound. An alternative route to (1R,2S,9S)-11-methyl-7,11-diazatricyclo[7.3.1.0(2,7)]tridecane starting from the natural product, (-)-cytisine, is described. This simple three-step route furnished gram-quantities of a (+)-sparteine surrogate. X-Ray crystallography of an intermediate in the route, (1R,5S,12S)-3-methoxycarbonyldecahydro-1,5-methanopyrido[1,2-a][1,5]diazocin-8-one, enabled the stereochemistry of all of the tricyclic diamines described in this paper to be unequivocally established. Two other diamines, starting from (S)-proline and resolved 2-piperidine ethanol, were prepared using standard methods. These diamines lacked the bispidine framework of (-)-sparteine and were found to impart vastly inferior enantioselectivity. It was concluded that, for the asymmetric lithiation substitution of N-Boc pyrrolidine, a rigid bispidine framework and only three of the four rings of (-)-sparteine are needed for high enantioselectivity. Furthermore, it is shown that diamine (1R,2S,9S)-11-methyl-7,11-diazatricyclo[7.3.1.0(2,7)]tridecane is the first successful (+)-sparteine surrogate. 相似文献

Background
Human neural stem cells (hNSC) have the potential to provide novel cell-based therapies for neurodegenerative conditions such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. In order to realise this goal, protocols need to be developed that allow for large quantities of hNSC to be cultured efficiently. As such, it is important to identify factors which enhance the growth of hNSC. In vivo, stem cells reside in distinct microenvironments or niches that are responsible for the maintenance of stem cell populations. The forces and particle motion during transient and oscillatory shear of granular material are investigated experimentally. In a shear cell of Taylor-Couette-type we find that how a granular shear flow starts depends strongly on the prior shear direction. If the shear direction is reversed, the material goes through a transient period during which the material compacts, the shear force is small, and the shear band is wide. Three-dimensional confocal imaging of particle rearrangements during shear reversal shows that bulk and surface flows are comparable. Repeated reversals, or oscillations of the shear direction, lead to additional compaction, which can be described by a stretched exponential, similar to compaction induced by tapping. 相似文献
