The nonlinear rheological behavior of short glass fiber suspensions has been investigated in this work by rotational rheometry and flow visualization. A Newtonian and a Boger fluid (BF) were used as suspending media. The suspensions exhibited shear thinning in the semidilute regime and weaker shear thinning in the transition to the concentrated one. Normal stresses and relative viscosity were higher for the BF suspensions than for the Newtonian ones presumably due to enhanced hydrodynamic interactions resulting from BF elasticity. In addition, relative viscosity of the suspensions increased rapidly with fiber content, suggesting that the rheological behavior in the concentrated regime is dominated by mechanical contacts between fibers. Visualization of individual fibers and their interactions under flow allowed the detection of aggregates, which arise from adhesive contacts. The orientation states of the fibers were quantified by a second order tensor and fast Fourier transforms of the flow field images. Fully oriented states occurred for shear rates around 20 s − 1. Finally, the energy required to orient the fibers was higher in step forward than in reversal flow experiments due to a change in the spatial distribution of fibers, from isotropic to planar oriented, during the forward experiments.  相似文献

The continuous extrusion of a metallocene linear low-density polyethylene through a transparent capillary die with and without slip was analyzed in this work by rheometrical measurements and particle image velocimetry (PIV). For this reason, a comparison was made between the rheological behaviors of the pure polymer and blended with a small amount of fluoropolymer polymer processing additive. Very good agreement was found between rheometrical and PIV measurements. The pure polymer exhibited stick-slip instabilities with nonhomogeneous slip at the die wall, whereas the blend showed stable flow. The slip velocity was measured directly from the velocity profiles and was negligible for the pure polymer before the stick-slip but increased monotonously as a function of the shear stress for the blend. The flow curves and the slip velocity as a function of the shear stress deviated from a power law and were well fitted by continuous “kink” functions. Comparison of PIV data with rheometrical ones permitted a direct proof of the basic assumption of the Mooney theory. Finally, the analysis of the velocity profiles showed that there is a maximum in the contribution of slip to the average fluid velocity, which is interpreted as the impossibility for the velocity profile to become plug like in the presence of shear thinning.  相似文献

This paper concerns with the study of the stability of an equilibrium solution of an analytic Hamiltonian system in a neighborhood of the equilibrium point with n-degrees of freedom, in the autonomous and periodic case under the presence of a single resonance. Our Main Theorem generalizes several results existing in the literature and we also give a geometrical interpretation of the hypotheses involved there. In particular, our Main Theorem provides necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of the equilibrium solutions under the existence of a single resonance, depending on the coefficients of the Hamiltonian function.  相似文献

The presence of undercut at the tooth root, non-equal addendum on pinion and wheel, non-standard tooth height or non-standard center distance may have decisive influence on the load distribution along the line of contact of spur and helical gear teeth. The curve of variation of the meshing stiffness along the path of contact, quite symmetric respect the midpoint of the interval of contact, loses its symmetry for non-standard geometries and operating conditions. As a consequence, the critical contact points for bending and wear calculations may be shifted from their locations for standard gears. In this paper, a non-uniform model of load distribution along the line of contact of standard spur and helical gears, obtained from the minimum elastic potential criterion, has been enhanced to fit with the meshing conditions of the above mentioned non-standard cylindrical gear pairs. The same analytical formulation of the initial model may be used for the non-standard gears by considering appropriate values of a virtual contact ratio, which are also presented in the paper.  相似文献

A colorimetric method based on silver nanoparticles was developed for the determination of melamine in milk. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized without any stabilizer, using sodium borohydride as the reducing agent. Optimization of the variables for the formation of the nanoparticles was performed by factorial design, resulting in stable colloidal silver nanoparticles with a mean diameter of 14.0?±?2.7?nm. Spectrophotometric measurements performed at 475?nm showed a linear range from 0.033 to 1.50?mg?L?1 of melamine with limits of detection and quantification of 0.009 and 0.031?mg?L?1, respectively. The method provided highly sensitive determination of melamine in milk.  相似文献

We have studied the trends in catalytic activity of several Co macrocyclics confined on the surface graphite electrodes for the oxidation of thiocyanate. A plot of log i (at constant E) versus the formal potential of the catalyst gives a volcano correlation, indicating that the Co(II/I) redox potential needs to be tuned, in order to achieve maximum reactivity. Graphite electrodes modified with Co phthalocyanine at pH 4 exhibit linear amperometric response for thiocyanate concentration in the range 10?7 and 10?3 M. Theoretical calculations show that electrocatalytic activity (as log i at constant E) plotted versus the energy of the LUMO of the Co complex also gives a volcano correlation.  相似文献
