We consider pricing schemes for matching customers and providers on double-sided markets for electronic services. While existing second-best solutions are incentive compatible, the associated payment functions are difficult to implement in real-world settings. Based on the Vickrey–Clarke–Groves (VCG) and the -pricing mechanism, we propose two straightforward payment schemes that offer a practical alternative to the second-best solution. Our experiments provide evidence that the VCG payments fail to implement incentive compatibility. This failure is due to the interdependency of the participants’ utilities. 相似文献

Some theories propose that human cumulative culture is dependent on explicit, system-2, metacognitive processes. To test this, we investigated whether access to working memory is required for cumulative cultural evolution. We restricted access to adults’ working-memory (WM) via a dual-task paradigm, to assess whether this reduced performance in a cultural evolution task, and a metacognitive monitoring task. In total, 247 participants completed either a grid search task or a metacognitive monitoring task in conjunction with a WM task and a matched control. Participants’ behaviour in the grid search task was then used to simulate the outcome of iterating the task over multiple generations. Participants in the grid search task scored higher after observing higher-scoring examples, but could only beat the scores of low-scoring example trials. Scores did not differ significantly between the control and WM distractor blocks, although more errors were made when under WM load. The simulation showed similar levels of cumulative score improvement across conditions. However, scores plateaued without reaching the maximum. Metacognitive efficiency was low in both blocks, with no indication of dual-task interference. Overall, we found that taxing working-memory resources did not prevent cumulative score improvement on this task, but impeded it slightly relative to a control distractor task. However, we found no evidence that the dual-task manipulation impacted participants’ ability to use explicit metacognition. Although we found minimal evidence in support of the explicit metacognition theory of cumulative culture, our results provide valuable insights into empirical approaches that could be used to further test predictions arising from this account. 相似文献

This paper describes quality criteria and the optimisation of compounding processes for some bimodal polyolefin grades. Quality criteria and testing methods are different for film grades and coloured grades for pipe extrusion or other applications. Even for comparable polymer grades their producers use different quality criteria which makes the direct comparison of those products impossible in terms of compounding demands. Therefore, the quality checks have to be adapted for optimising a compounding process by special screw designs or operating conditions. Some examples for such an optimisation and the resulting industrial compounding lines are shown. In general this new class of polymers requires an enlarged and specially designed melting zone (i.e. multiple zones) and a longer residence time within the compounder. At the Mainz Microtron MAMI exploratory experiments on the spectroscopy of mesonic weak decays (MWD) of electroproduced Λ-hypernuclei were performed. A unique setup was realized to use the broad momentum-band kaon spectrometer Kaos at zero degree angle with respect to the high-intensity electron beam direction to tag strangeness producing processes. A sample of order 103 MWD from a beryllium target was collected by the coincidence technique with the high-resolution multi-spectrometer facility of the A1 Collaboration. It is conjectured that this sample contains monochromatic two-body decays from stopped hyperfragment decays as well as a wide momentum distribution of quasi-free produced Λ- and Σ-hyperon decays and three-body decays from hyperfragments. Stopped hyperfragments will be identified as monochromatic peaks in the π ? momentum spectrum from which their masses can be extracted with a precision of 50 keV/c 2. 相似文献

Polyamide-6 nanocomposites were prepared from a new phosphonium organoclay obtained at pilot scale in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) and a commercially available ammonium modified-silicate. The composites were homogenised by twin-screw extrusion, then specimens for testing were prepared by injection moulding. The clay content of the composites was varied from 0 to 7 vol.% in 7 steps. The clays were characterised in detail; they differed in their surface coverage and gallery structure, while their particle size was similar and their surface energy differed only slightly. X-ray diffraction, electronic microscopy and rheology were used for the characterisation of composite structure. Different gallery structure of the clays led to dissimilar extent of exfoliation. The phosphonium organoclay exfoliated better in PA than the silicate treated with the ammonium salt in spite of its smaller surface coverage. The nanocomposites showed the usual complex structure: besides individual platelets and intercalated stacks, large particles were also present and the development of a silicate network could be shown at large clay contents. Quantitative determination of the extent of reinforcement revealed two determining factors: contact surface and strength of interaction. The first increases with exfoliation, but the latter decreases as an effect of organophilisation. The extent of exfoliation was also estimated quantitatively, and the calculation confirmed the results of qualitative evaluation showing larger extent of exfoliation for the scCO2-prepared phosphonium clay. 相似文献
