1. INTRODUCTION In some cities of China, cancer and breath system diseases caused by the pollution of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been obviously increasing. LETTER: Pair Creation of Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter Black Holes

For a spherically symmetric vacuum model with anegative cosmological constant, a complex constrainedinstanton is considered as the seed for the quantum paircreation of Schwarzschild-anti-de Sitter black holes. The relative creation probability isfound to be the exponential of the negative of the blackhole entropy. The black hole entropy is known to be onequarter of the black hole horizon area. In the absence of a general noboundary proposal foropen creation, the constrained instanton approach isused in treating both the open and closed pair creationsof black holes.     

Mappings of finite distortion: the degree of regularity

This paper investigates the self-improving integrability properties of the so-called mappings of finite distortion. Let K(x)1 be a measurable function defined on a domain ΩRⁿ, n2, and such that exp(βK(x))L_loc¹(Ω), β>0. We show that there exist two universal constants c₁(n),c₂(n) with the following property: Let f be a mapping in W_loc^1,1(Ω,Rⁿ) with |Df(x)|ⁿK(x)J(x,f) for a.e. xΩ and such that the Jacobian determinant J(x,f) is locally in L¹ log^−c₁(n)βL. Then automatically J(x,f) is locally in L¹ log^c₂(n)βL(Ω). This result constitutes the appropriate analog for the self-improving regularity of quasiregular mappings and clarifies many other interesting properties of mappings of finite distortion. Namely, we obtain novel results on the size of removable singularities for bounded mappings of finite distortion, and on the area distortion under this class of mappings.

Helical nanocables with SiC core and SiO2 shell

A novel one-dimensional helical nanocable structure has been synthesized through the reaction of carbon fiber with SiO vapor. The crystalline SiC core typically has diameters of 10–20 nm with a helical periodicity of 30–40 nm and is covered by a uniform layer of 10–20 nm thick amorphous SiO₂. A growth mechanism is proposed on the basis of difference in the growth rate between crystalline SiC core and amorphous SiO₂ shell.     

Effect of Mn-site vacancies on the magnetic entropy change and the Curie temperature of La0.67Ca0.33Mn1−xO3 perovskite

Single-phase polycrystalline samples of La_0.67Ca_0.33Mn_1−xO₃ (x=0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06) have been prepared using the sol-gel method. The structure, magnetocaloric properties and the Curie temperature of the samples with different Mn vacancy concentrations have been investigated. The experimental results show that vacancy doping at the Mn-sites has a significant influence on the magnetic properties of La_0.67Ca_0.33Mn_1−xO₃. The Curie temperature decreases monotonically with increasing the Mn-site vacancy concentration x. A remarkable enhancement of the magnetic entropy change has been obtained in the La_0.67Ca_0.33Mn_0.98O₃ sample. The entropy change reaches |ΔS_M|=3.10 J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹ at its Curie temperature (264 K) under an applied magnetic field H=10 kOe, which is almost the same value as that of pure Gd.     

Structure of Cyclic Aryl Thiosester Dimer Based on o—Phthaloyl Dichloride and Bis（4—mercaptophenyl）Sulfide

A Cyclic aryl thioester dimer was prepared by the reaction of o-phthaloyl dichloride and bis(4-mercaptophenyl)sulfide in good yield under pseudo-high dilution conditions via interfacial polycondensation.The structure of the cyclic dimer was confirmed by a conmbination of MALDI-TOF-Ms,FTIR,gel permeation chromatography and NMR analyses.The X-ray diffraction study of the single crystal of cyclic thioester dimer obtained form two sotutions reveals no severe internal strain on the cyclic structure.     

ADSORPTION ISOTHERMS AND POTENTIAL DISTRIBUTIONS OF NITROGEN ON VARIOUS ACTIVATED CARBONS

The adsorption isotherms of four activated carbons (Norit RB1, Chemviron BPL, Monolit, and Ambersorb-572) have been examined by nitrogen adsorption at 77.5 K. A method for adsorption potential distribution calculation has been proposed based on the adsorption isotherms. This distribution provides information about possible changes in the Gibbs free energy caused by the energetic and geometrical heterogeneities of an activated carbon as well as by the adsorbate-related entropic effects. The general character of the adsorption potential distribution is clearly visible by its simple relation to the micropore and mesopore distribution.     

Synthesis,structure and biological activity studies of 2‐[(1H‐1,2,4‐triazol‐1‐yl)methyl]‐1‐aryl)‐3‐ferrocenyl prop‐2‐en‐1‐one derivatives

Fifteen new ferrocene derivatives containing 1H‐1,2,4‐triazole moiety were synthesized in various yields by the condensation of ferrocenecarboxaldehyde with 1‐aryl‐3‐(1H‐1,2,4‐triazo‐1‐yl)‐propen‐1‐ones in toluene. Their structures have been confirmed by ¹H NMR, IR, MS and elemental analysis. In addition, the crystal structure of 4l was determined. Study on mode-filtered light sensor for methane detection

A novel mode-filtered light gas sensor has been reported.It was constructed by inserting an optical fiber deposited by a thin silicone cladding of cryptophane A into a fused-silica capillary.When different concentration of methane gas was introduced to the sensor,the phenomenon that mode-filtered light intensity decreased with the increasing concentration of methane was observed.
