Mid-infrared generation based on a periodically poled LiNbO3 optical parametric oscillator

We report a nanosecond Nd:YVO_4-pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on periodically poled LiNbO_3 (PPLN). Tuning is achieved in this experiment by varying the temperature and period of the PPLN. The design of double-pass singly resonant oscillator (DSRO) and confocal cavity enables the OPO threshold to be lowered considerably, resulting in a simple, compact, all-solid-state configuration with the mid-infrared idler powers of up to 466mW at 3.41μm.

2,9-disubstituted 1,10-phenanthroline nickel complexes: Syntheses,characterization, and their ethylene oligomerization

Nickel complexes 1–4 ligated with 2,9-disubstituted-1,10-phenanthroline were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR spectra and elemental analysis. The molecular structure of complex 2 was confirmed by X-ray crystal diffraction analysis. Activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO), those complexes showed moderate activities for ethylene oligomerization. Published in Kinetika i Kataliz, 2007, Vol. 48, No. 5, pp. 710–714. The effect of micro-morphology of Bi2O3 on catalytic properties of Co/Bi catalyst for wet air oxidation of acetic acid

The novel phase transfer catalysts S-8 [4-(dimethyloctylammonium) propansultan] and DB-X [1,4-bis(triethylmethylammonium)benzene dibromide] were synthesized and employed for high conversion synthesis of dichlorocyclopropane from various olefins.This revised version was published online in December 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.

双维位置灵敏CsI(Tl)探测器

描述了一种双维位置灵敏CsI(Tl)探测器.用3组分α源测量该探测器得到的位置分辨为0.81mm(FWHM),对于69MeV/u ³⁶Ar能量分辨为0.9％(FWHM).在RIBLL的ΔE-E粒子鉴别望远镜中常常作为E探测器.由于CsI(Tl)晶体对不同的粒子的能损-光输出的非线性,需要针对不同离子对CsI探测器作能量-光输出校正曲线.     

An improved On-Surface Radiation Condition for acoustic scattering problems in the high-frequency spectrum

This Note addresses the derivation of an improved On-Surface Radiation Condition for the numerical solution of the exterior Helmholtz equation at high-frequencies. This condition is built as an approximation of the Neumann-to-Dirichlet map by using a local regularization of its principal classical symbol in the gliding zone for modelling the creeping waves. The numerical simulation of this pseudodifferential operator is efficiently realized with a linear cost according to the dimension of the boundary element approximation space using suitable complex Padé approximants. Bounds to optimal burn‐in and optimal work size

Burn‐in is a widely used method to improve the quality of products or systems after they have been produced. In this paper, we consider the problem of determining the optimal burn‐in time and optimal work size maximizing the long‐run average amount of work saved per time unit in the computer applications. Assuming that the underlying lifetime distribution of the computer has an initially decreasing or/and eventually increasing failure rate function, an upper bound for the optimal burn‐in time is derived for each fixed work size and a uniform (with respect to the burn‐in time) upper bound for the optimal work size is also obtained. Furthermore, it is shown that a non‐trivial lower bound for the optimal burn‐in time can be derived if the underlying lifetime distribution has a large initial failure rate. Comment on: “Confined states in two-dimensional flat elliptic quantum dots and elliptic quantum wires” [Physica E 11 (2001) 345]

We argue that the two-dimensional elliptic quantum dot problem with finite barrier cannot be exactly solved, contrary to a recent assertion (van den Broek and Peeters, Physica E 11 (2001) 345. We also prove it explicitly by numerically calculating the correct energy spectrum.
