A synchrotron‐radiation‐based circular‐dichroism end‐station has been implemented at beamline BL04B at the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) in Taiwan for biological research. The design and performance of this compact end‐station for measuring circular‐dichroism spectra in the vacuum‐ultraviolet region are described. The linearly polarized light from the beamline is converted to modulated circularly polarized light with a LiF photoelastic modulator to provide a usable wavelength region of 130–330 nm. The light spot at the sample position is 5 mm × 5 mm at a slit width of 300 µm and provides a flux greater than 1 × 1011 photons s?1 (0.1% bandwidth)?1. A vacuum‐compatible cell made of two CaF2 windows has a variable path length from 1.3 µm to 1 mm and a temperature range of 253–363 K. Measured CD spectra of (1S)‐(+)‐10‐camphorsulfonic acid and proteins demonstrated the ability of this system to extend the wavelength down to 172 nm in aqueous solution and 153 nm in hexafluoro‐2‐propanol. 相似文献

Desert beetle Microdera punctipennis (Coleoptera: Tenebriondae) is a special species in Gurbantonggut Desert in Central Asia. To investigate the possible strategy it employs for cold survival, seasonal changes in supercooling point (SCP), body water content, haemolymph osmolality and antifreeze protein gene (Mpafp) expression were measured over 13 months. Our results show SCPs in M. punctipennis adults changed from -8.0°C in summer to -18.7°C in winter. During winter, adults endured modest water loss; total water decreased from 65.4 percent in summer to 55.9% in winter. Mpafp mRNAs level increased by 13.1 fold from summer to early winter, and haemolymph osmolality increased accordingly from 550 mOsm to 1486 mOsm. Correlation coefficient of Mpafp mRNAs level and SCP indicates that Mpafp mRNA explained 65.3 percent of the variation in SCPs. The correlation between Mpafp mRNA level and total water reflected an indirect influence of antifreeze protein on water content via reducing SCP. 相似文献

Erik Verlinde recently proposed an idea about the thermodynamic origin ofgravity. Though this is a beautiful idea, which may resolve many longstanding problems in the theories of gravity, it also raises many otherproblems. In this article I will comment on some of the problems ofVerlinde's proposal with special emphasis on the thermodynamical originof the principle of relativity. It is found that there is a large group of hiddensymmetries of thermodynamics, which contains the Poincare group of thespacetime for which space is emergent. Metallic triangular grating structures have a wide range of applications. This study focuses on the radiative properties of triangular grating structures of aluminum in the mid-infrared wavelength to determine if we can tailor the infrared radiative properties by designing special geometrical details into triangular grating surfaces. Fabrication of triangular gratings within the range of micron scale is very difficult. Therefore, the influences of slight geometry modification, generated by fabrication errors, on radiative properties of triangular gratings are mainly investigated. The electromagnetic wave scattering from such surfaces is predicted by solving Maxwell's equations using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The results show that the spectral reflectance varies with the dimensions of triangular gratings, which is due to the excitation of surface wave by confirmation of the EM fields. It is found that the spectral reflectance can also be reduced by increasing the height of slight geometry modification. The effect of oblique incident wave state is also investigated. An optical vortex is found due to the coupling of surface waves, the oblique incident wave and the scattering waves. This study helps to gain a better understanding of the radiative properties of metallic triangular gratings with slight geometry modification and will have an impact on triangular grating processing. 相似文献

Based on the properties of transverse (divergenceless) waves and longitudinal (irrotational) waves, we divided the transverse wave modes and longitudinal wave modes from the mixed eigen modes in solid phononic crystals. By investigating the transverse wave and longitudinal wave band structures at low frequency, we found that transverse bands and longitudinal bands exhibit different behaviors in solid systems including spherical scatterers. Phononic crystal with a large density ratio of solid spheres to the background can guarantee both the large longitudinal and large transverse band gap, but solid spheres with a small ratio of longitudinal wave velocity to transverse wave velocity can only help to enlarge the longitudinal band gap, and do not help to enlarge the transverse band gap. 相似文献

在差分吸收光谱(DOAS)测量过程中,光谱分辨率的选择直接决定了污染气体浓度的测量准确度.主要研究了光谱分辨率对污染气体被榆测到的特征吸收结构形状的影响,以及差分吸收截面随分辨率的变化趋势,从而确定了光谱分辨率对污染气体最低可检测浓度的影响,通过研究分辨率与光强的关系,确定了分辨率与信噪比(S/N)的函数关系式,得出了DOAS测量NO2,O3,和SO2的最佳信噪比范围,对多种污染物标准气体进行了同时监测,计算出标准气体在不同光谱分辨率下的测量误差,确定了对NO2,O3和SO2监测的最适用的分辨率范围.在此分辨率范围既能够实现对痕量气体的准确定性定量测量,又能达到测量所需要的高灵敏度,强选择性和适用的时间分辨率.通过在北京丰台区的实际监测得到了与点式仪器测量结果很好的一致性. 相似文献
