Total synthesis and conformational analysis of the antifungal agent (-)-PF1163B

[reaction: see text]. (-)-PF1163B, a new macrocyclic antifungal antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces sp., has been prepared in eight steps from (S)-citronellene. The key step is a ring-closing metathesis reaction of an ester and amide derivative obtained from a substituted N-methyl-l-tyrosine.

Stochastic Invariance for Differential Inclusions

The aim of this paper is to combine two ways for representing uncertainty through stochastic differential inclusions: a 'stochastic uncertainty", driven by a Wiener process, and a 'contingent uncertainty", driven by a set-valued map. The paper is also devoted to the invariance of closed under stochastic differential inclusions with a Lipschitz right-hand side, characterized in terms of stochastic tangent sets to closed subsets.

N2-broadening coefficients in the ν2 and ν4 bands of PH3 at low temperature

N₂-broadening coefficients have been measured for 41 transitions of PH₃ at −100 °C in the ^QR branch of the ν₂ band and the ^PP, ^RP, and ^SP branches of the ν₄ band, using a tunable diode-laser spectrometer. The recorded lines with J values ranging from 1 to 13 and K from 0 to 10 are located between 1026 and 1093 cm⁻¹. The collisional widths are determined by fitting each spectral line with a Voigt profile, a Rautian profile, and a speed-dependent Rautian profile. The latter models provide larger broadening coefficients than the Voigt model. These coefficients have also been calculated on the basis of a semiclassical model of interacting linear molecules by considering an atom-atom Lennard-Jones potential in addition to the electrostatic contributions. By comparing broadening coefficients at room and low temperatures, the temperature dependence of these broadenings has been determined both experimentally and theoretically.     

Adventitious formation of a new oxopentadienyl Mn(I) tricarbonyl complex: Structural study and bonding investigation of (η-CH2C(Fc)CHC(Fc)O)Mn(CO)3

A Mn(I) tricarbonyl complex of a 1,3-diferrocenyl-1-oxopentadienyl ligand was synthesised adventitiously by what seems to be an in-situ aldol-like condensation of two acetylferrocene units promoted by benzyl-Mn(CO)₅. X-ray structural analysis of this unexpected product confirms the η⁵ coordination of the 1,3-diferrocenyl-1-oxopentadienyl ligand to the Mn(CO)₃ moiety. The nature of the metal-ligand bonding relationship was studied by theoretical calculations; it outlines the charge unbalance (polarisation) at the oxopentadienyl moiety as well as the lack of ketone character of the latter Mn-bound ligand.     

Convergence of a finite volume scheme for coagulation-fragmentation equations

This paper is devoted to the analysis of a numerical scheme for the coagulation and fragmentation equation. A time explicit finite volume scheme is developed, based on a conservative formulation of the equation. It is shown to converge under a stability condition on the time step, while a first order rate of convergence is established and an explicit error estimate is given. Finally, several numerical simulations are performed to investigate the gelation phenomenon and the long time behavior of the solution.
