2-Methoxyethanol chemical ionization of amines, carboxylic acids and amino acids has been found to produce numerous adduct ions. The most intense adduct ions for amines are [M + H](+) and [M + 77](+), for carboxylic acids [M + 27](+), [M + 59](+) and [M + 77](+), and for amino acids [M + H](+), [M + 13](+), [M + 27](+) and [M + 77](+). Either the adduct ion [M + H](+) or [M + 77](+) was the most abundant ion found for amino acids. The proton affinities of amino acids are noticed to control the formation of the [M + H](+) and [M + 77](+) ions. The relative abundance of [M + 13](+) and [M + 27](+) ions varied for different amino acids being most intense for phenylalanine and aspartic acid. Copyright 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A method is presented that accounts for differences in the acoustics of vowel production caused by human talkers' vocal-tract anatomies and postural settings. Such a method is needed by an analysis-by-synthesis procedure designed to recover midsagittal articulatory movement from speech acoustics because the procedure employs an articulatory model as an internal model. The normalization procedure involves the adjustment of parameters of the articulatory model that are not of interest for the midsagittal movement recovery procedure. These parameters are adjusted so that acoustic signals produced by the human and the articulatory model match as closely as possible over an initial set of pairs of corresponding human and model midsagittal shapes. Further, these initial midsagittal shape correspondence need to be generalized so that all midsagittal shapes of the human can be obtained from midsagittal shapes of the model. Once these procedures are complete, the midsagittal articulatory movement recovery algorithm can be used to derive model articulatory trajectories that, subsequently, can be transformed into human articulatory trajectories. In this paper the proposed normalization procedure is outlined and the results of experiments with data from two talkers contained in the X-ray Microbeam Speech Production Database are presented. It was found to be possible to characterize these vocal tracts during vowel production with the proposed procedure and to generalize the initial midsagittal correspondences over a set of vowels to other vowels. The procedure was also found to aid in midsagittal articulatory movement recovery from speech acoustics in a vowel-to-vowel production for the two subjects.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We prove a general theorem for nonlinear matrix models of the type used in structured population dynamics that describes the bifurcation that occurs when the extinction equilibrium destabilizes as a model parameter is varied. The existence of a bifurcating continuum of positive equilibria is established, and their local stability is related to the direction of bifurcation. Our theorem generalizes existing theorems found in the literature in two ways. First, it allows for a general appearance of the bifurcation parameter (existing theorems require the parameter to appear linearly). This significantly widens the applicability of the theorem to population models. Second, our theorem describes circumstances in which a backward bifurcation can produce stable positive equilibria (existing theorems allow for stability only when the bifurcation is forward). The signs of two diagnostic quantities determine the stability of the bifurcating equilibrium and the direction of bifurcation. We give examples that illustrate these features.  相似文献

Background

Recent studies have shown that the human right-hemispheric auditory cortex is particularly sensitive to reduction in sound quality, with an increase in distortion resulting in an amplification of the auditory N1m response measured in the magnetoencephalography (MEG). Here, we examined whether this sensitivity is specific to the processing of acoustic properties of speech or whether it can be observed also in the processing of sounds with a simple spectral structure. We degraded speech stimuli (vowel /a/), complex non-speech stimuli (a composite of five sinusoidals), and sinusoidal tones by decreasing the amplitude resolution of the signal waveform. The amplitude resolution was impoverished by reducing the number of bits to represent the signal samples. Auditory evoked magnetic fields (AEFs) were measured in the left and right hemisphere of sixteen healthy subjects.

Results

We found that the AEF amplitudes increased significantly with stimulus distortion for all stimulus types, which indicates that the right-hemispheric N1m sensitivity is not related exclusively to degradation of acoustic properties of speech. In addition, the P1m and P2m responses were amplified with increasing distortion similarly in both hemispheres. The AEF latencies were not systematically affected by the distortion.

Conclusions

We propose that the increased activity of AEFs reflects cortical processing of acoustic properties common to both speech and non-speech stimuli. More specifically, the enhancement is most likely caused by spectral changes brought about by the decrease of amplitude resolution, in particular the introduction of periodic, signal-dependent distortion to the original sound. Converging evidence suggests that the observed AEF amplification could reflect cortical sensitivity to periodic sounds.  相似文献

Gold-coated nanoparticles of Fe20Ni80 (permalloy) have been synthesized by a microemulsion process. The as-prepared samples consist of ∼5 nm diameter particles of amorphous Fe20Ni80 that are likely encapsulated in B2O3. One or more Fe20Ni80@B2O3 particles are subsequently encapsulated in 8-20 nm gold nanospheres, as determined by TEM and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) line broadening. The gold shells were found to be under expansive strain. Magnetic data confirm the existence of a superparamagnetic phase with a blocking temperature, TB, of ∼33 K. The saturation magnetization, MS, of the as-prepared, Au-coated sample is ∼65 emu g−1 at 5 K and ∼16 emu g−1 at 300 K. The coercivity, HC, is ∼280 Oe at 5 K.  相似文献
