The flavonoid content of several methanolic extract fractions of Navel orange peel (flavedo and albedo of Citrus sinensis) cultivated in Crete (Greece) was first analysed phytochemically and then assessed for its antioxidant activity in vitro. The chemical structures of the constituents fractionated were originally determined by comparing their retention times and the obtained UV spectral data with the available bibliographic data and further verified by detailed LC-DAD-MS (ESI+) analysis. The main flavonoid groups found within the fractions examined were polymethoxylated flavones, O-glycosylated flavones, C-glycosylated flavones, O-glycosylated flavonols, O-glycosylated flavanones and phenolic acids along with their ester derivatives. In addition, the quantitative HPLC analysis confirmed that hesperidin is the major flavonoid glycoside found in the orange peel. Interestingly enough, its quantity at 48 mg/g of dry peel permits the commercial use of orange peel as a source for the production of hesperidin. The antioxidant activity of the orange peel methanolic extract fractions was evaluated by applying two complementary methodologies, DPPH(*) assay and the Co(II)/EDTA-induced luminol chemiluminescence approach. Overall, the results have shown that orange peel methanolic extracts possess moderate antioxidant activity as compared with the activity seen in tests where the corresponding aglycones, diosmetin and hesperetin were assessed in different ratios. 相似文献

Despite all the attempts to create advanced hemoglobin (Hb)‐based oxygen carriers (HBOCs) employing an encapsulation platform, major challenges including attaining a high Hb loading and long circulation times still need to be overcome. Herein, the fabrication, for the first time, of nanoparticles fully made of Hb (Hb‐NPs) employing the electrospray technique is reported. The Hb‐NPs are then coated by antioxidant and self‐polymerized poly(dopamine) (PDA) to minimize the conversion of Hb into nonfunctional methemoglobin (metHb). The PDA shell is further functionalized with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to achieve stealth properties. The results demonstrate that the as‐prepared Hb‐NPs are hemo‐ and biocompatible while offering antioxidant protection and decreasing the formation of metHb. Additionally, decoration with PEG results in decreased protein adsorption onto the Hb‐NPs surface, suggesting a prolonged retention time within the body. Finally, the Hb‐NPs also preserve the reversible oxygen‐binding and releasing properties of Hb. All in all, within this study, a novel HBOCs with high Hb content is fabricated and its potential as an artificial blood substitute is evaluated. 相似文献

This work reports the fabrication of disposable three-electrode cells with integrated sputtered metal-film electrodes. The working electrode was a bismuth-film electrode (BiFE) while the reference and counter electrodes were made of Ag and Pt, respectively. The deposition of the metal layers was carried out by sputtering of the respective metals on a silicon substrate while the exact geometry of the electrodes was defined via a metal mask placed on the substrate during the deposition process. Initially, the electrodes were characterised by cyclic voltammetry. The utility of these devices was tested for the trace determination of Ni(II) by square wave adsorptive stripping voltammetry (SWAdSV) after complexation with dimethylglyoxime (DMG). The experimental variables (the presence of oxygen, the DMG concentration, the preconcentration potential, the accumulation time and the SW parameters), as well as potential interferences, were investigated. Using the selected conditions, the 3sigma limit of detection was 100 ng L(-1) for Ni(II) (for 90 s of preconcentration) and the relative standard deviation for Ni(II) was 2.3% at the 10 microg L(-1) level (n=8). Finally, the method was applied to the determination of Ni(II) in a certified river water sample. 相似文献

Configuration interaction calculations have been carried out on electronic states of the NaLi molecule and the cation NaLi(+). Potential energy curves are presented for the lowest nine (1)Sigma(+), seven (1)Pi, four (1)Delta, eight (3)Sigma(+), seven (3)Pi, and four (3)Delta states of NaLi as well as for the lowest ten (2)Sigma(+), six (2)Pi, and two (2)Delta states of NaLi(+). The results of the present many-electron configuration interaction calculations on the cation are in support of previous core-polarization effective potential calculations. The present calculations on the NaLi molecule are complementary to previous theoretical work on this system, including recently observed electronic states that had not been calculated previously as well as an investigation of nonadiabatic effects leading to spectral perturbations. Furthermore, ab initio potential energy curves of the neutral and the ground state of the cation are employed to determine quantum defect that may be employed to generate potential energy curves for nd and (n+1)p (for n>3) Rydberg states of NaLi. The present results on the 3 (1)Pi and 4 (1)Pi states are in good agreement with recent experimental work, whereas on the basis of theoretical data, the recently observed state 5 (1)Pi is better described as 6 (1)Pi. 相似文献

The purpose of this study is to clarify important details about a Cumaean Sibyl painting that is preserved in a private collection. This work, bearing neither signature nor date, has never undergone conservation. It was executed after Domenichino's Cumaean Sibyl, a work known to have been used as a model by many 18th century painters.Investigation of the anonymous artist's painting technique and identification of its constituent materials were facilitated by employing optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS), FTIR and microRaman spectroscopies and high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD). The painter's palette comprised lead white, yellow ochre, lead-antimonate yellow (Naples yellow), cinnabar, cochineal lake, madder lake, haematite, Prussian blue and carbon black.The detection of Prussian blue (synthesized in 1704 and widely used as artist's pigment after 1750) was decisive in establishing the work's authenticity for, as such, it cannot be attributed either to Domenico Zampieri (1581-1641) or to his apprentices. In addition, the identification of Naples yellow, which prevailed in the period from 1750 to 1850, supports this statement. Nevertheless, its elaborate painting technique strongly suggests an artist greatly influenced by the Renaissance masters. A comparison of its stylistic features with those of the Cumaean Sibyl of Angelica Kauffmann (1741-1807), a prolific 18th century artist known to have studied and to have copied Domenichino's Sibyl, reveals significant similarities between the two in composition and palette. A facile synthesis of 2-formyl-1,8-naphthalenediol is reported. Its potential as a general precursor for the preparation of unsymmetrical multidentate chelating ligand systems based on 1,8-naphthalenediol is demonstrated by the synthesis of the dinucleating ligand L(4-)(H(4)L=N,N'-bis(2-(1,8-naphthalenediol)methylidene)propylenediamine). Reaction of H(4) L with copper acetate results in the formation of the unsymmetrical dinuclear Cu(II) complex [LCu(2)](3), which has been structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. One Cu(II) ion is coordinated by a N(2)O(2) compartment of L(4-) and the other Cu(II) ion is coordinated by an O(4) compartment of L(4-) while they are bridged by two aryloxide functions of L(4-). A dimerization of two molecules of 3 to a tetranuclear entity 3(2) occurs through formation of weak apical Cu--O interactions. Analysis of the temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements (2--290 K) established a strong intradimer exchange coupling J(12)=-371 cm(-1). This strong superexchange interaction fits nicely in a magneto-structural correlation which has been established for dinuclear bis(phenoxide)-bridged Cu(II) complexes demonstrating the electronic equivalence of the aryloxides of a phenol and 1,8-naphthalenediol. 相似文献

We study the routing of a single vehicle that delivers multiple products under stochastic demand. Specifically, we investigate two practical variations of this problem: (i) The case in which each product type is stored in its dedicated compartment in the vehicle, and (ii) the case in which all products are stored together in the vehicle’s single compartment. Suitable dynamic programming algorithms are proposed to determine the minimum expected (routing) cost for each case. Furthermore, the optimal routing policy is derived by developing appropriate theorems. The efficiency of the algorithms is studied by solving large problem sets. 相似文献
