Kolmogorov spectra in one-dimensional weak turbulence

In this article, we report the results of our numerical simulation of a one-dimensional modified MMT model, which includes the processes of “one-to-three” wave interactions. We show that this model, with properly chosen parameters, behaves according to the weak-turbulence theory. In particular, it demonstrates the validity of the Kolmogorov spectrum over a wide range of wave numbers.     

Measurements of the Dalitz plot parameters for K ± → π±π0π0 decays

The g, h, and k Dalitz plot parameters, which are coefficients in a series expansion of the squared module of the matrix element |M(u, v)|² ∝ 1 + gu + hu ² + kv ² (u, v are invariant variables), have been measured for K ^± → π^±π ⁰π⁰ decays using 35 GeV/c hadron beams at the IHEP (Protvino) accelerator. Dependences of parameters and fit quality on the π⁰π⁰ mass cut were investigated for the first time. It is shown that the expansion mentioned above does not fit the experimental data near the π⁺π^? mass threshold and that addition of the cubic terms only slightly improves the fit quality. This result indicates the important role of nonanalytical terms in the matrix element that are connected with pion rescattering. A comparison of our data with previous measurements is presented.     

Status quo and prospects of development of chemical and sorption heat engines in the Russian federation and the Republic of Belarus

This paper examines basic principles of the operation of chemical and adsorption heat engines and their advantages and new aspects and reviews the status quo of sorption technologies in different countries and their use in Russia and in the Republic of Belarus.     

Spectrally narrow, long-term stable optical frequency reference based on a Eu3+:Y2SiO5 crystal at cryogenic temperature

Using an ultrastable continuous-wave laser at 580 nm we performed spectral hole burning of Eu(3+):Y(2)SiO(5) at a very high spectral resolution. The essential parameters determining the usefulness as a macroscopic frequency reference, linewidth, temperature sensitivity, and long-term stability, were characterized using a H-maser stabilized frequency comb. Spectral holes with a linewidth as low as 6 kHz were observed and the upper limit of the drift of the hole frequency was determined to be 5±3 mHz/s. We discuss the necessary requirements for achieving ultrahigh stability in laser frequency stabilization to these spectral holes.     

Solving Multi-dimensional Evolution Problems with Localized Structures using Second Generation Wavelets

A dynamically adaptive numerical method for solving multi-dimensional evolution problems with localized structures is developed. The method is based on the general class of multi-dimensional second-generation wavelets and is an extension of the second-generation wavelet collocation method of Vasilyev and Bowman to two and higher dimensions and irregular sampling intervals. Wavelet decomposition is used for grid adaptation and interpolation, while O ( N ) hierarchical finite difference scheme, which takes advantage of wavelet multilevel decomposition, is used for derivative calculations. The prowess and computational efficiency of the method are demonstrated for the solution of a number of two-dimensional test problems.     

Population inversion in two-dimensional InAs/GaSb/AlSb systems

We analyse the potentiality of InAs/GaSb/AlSb tunnel structures for creation of the population inversion and stimulated radiation both in the presence and in the absence of magnetic field.     

Photomagnetic effect in bilayer two-dimensional electron–hole systems

In tilted magnetic fields a bilayer electron–hole system is found to generate a photocurrent under terahertz radiation as the system is tuned to electron cyclotron resonance conditions. The photoinduced current amplitude oscillates with the magnetic field in correlation with Shubnikov–de Haas oscillations for electrons. The phenomenon is accounted for by a photomagnetic effect in electron–hole systems in the quantum Hall regime and has potentialities for terahertz detection and spectroscopy.     

Negative-muon capture in <Superscript>150</Superscript>Sm

The energy and time spectra of γ rays emitted during negative-muon capture in ¹⁵⁰Sm were studied. The total muon lifetime in ¹⁵⁰Sm was measured. The yields of several radioactive isotopes in this reaction were determined. The partial γ-ray yield upon muon capture by a ¹⁵⁰Sm nucleus were measured.
