Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance techniques are employed to extract information about the effects introduced by the interaction with the surface on the rotational and translational dynamics of molecules confined inside a mesoporous carbon xerogel. The molecules under study were water, cyclohexane, and hexane. They were chosen due to their different interaction strength with the carbonaceous matrix. Frequency dependent longitudinal relaxation measurements, using the fast field cycling technique, allowed extraction of the fractal dimension of the carbon xerogel surface. It was observed that the measured value is influenced by the molecule affinity to the surface. Diffusion measurements, using the pulse field gradient technique, have revealed that the stronger interaction with the surface of cyclohexane and hexane molecules leads to an increased diffusive tortuosity, as compared with water.  相似文献

The relaxation dynamics of the isolated indole molecule has been tracked by femtosecond time-resolved ionization. The excitation region explored (283-243 nm) covers three excited states: the two ππ* L(b) and L(a) states, and the dark πσ* state with dissociative character. In the low energy region (λ > 273 nm) the transients collected reflect the absorption of the long living L(b) state. The L(a) state is met 1000-1500 cm(-1) above the L(b) origin, giving rise to an ultrafast lifetime of 40 fs caused by the internal conversion to the lower L(b) minimum through a conical intersection. An additional ~400 fs component, found at excitation wavelengths shorter than 263 nm, is ascribed to dynamics along the πσ* state, which is likely populated through coupling to the photoexcited L(a) state. The study provides a general view of the indole photophysics, which is driven by the interplay between these three excited surfaces and the ground state.  相似文献

A general method designed to isolate the global minimum of a multidimensional objective function with multiple minima is presented. The algorithm exploits an integral “coarse-graining” transformation of the objective function, U, into a smoothed function with few minima. When the coarse-graining is defined over a cubic neighborhood of length scale ϵ, the exact gradient of the smoothed function, 𝒰ϵ, is a simple three-point finite difference of U. When ϵ is very large, the gradient of 𝒰ϵ appears to be a “bad derivative” of U. Because the gradient of 𝒰ϵ is a simple function of U, minimization on the smoothed surface requires no explicit calculation or differentiation of 𝒰ϵ. The minimization method is “derivative-free” and may be applied to optimization problems involving functions that are not smooth or differentiable. Generalization to functions in high-dimensional space is straightforward. In the context of molecular conformational optimization, the method may be used to minimize the potential energy or, preferably, to maximize the Boltzmann probability function. Cycloreversion of 2-(p-cyanophenyl)-4-methyl-3-phenyloxetane (1) is achieved using 1-methoxynaphthalene (2) as electron-transfer photosensitizer. The experimental results are consistent with the reaction taking place from the singlet excited state of the sensitizer. Ring splitting of the radical anion 1*- occurs with cleavage of O-C2 and C3-C4 bonds, leading to products (acetaldehyde and p-cyanostilbene) different from the reagents used in the Paterno-Büchi synthesis of 1. The olefin radical anion involved in the electron-transfer process has been detected by means of laser flash photolysis.  相似文献

The role of sphingomyelinase (SMase) activation and mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs) activation in cellular apoptosis was investigated during the hyperthermic treatment of HL-60 human leukemia cells. Treating the cells for 1 h at 43(o)C caused more than 50% of cellular apoptosis within several hours. The neutral-SMase activity in the cells treated for 1 h at 42(o)C was slightly increased but decreased in the cells treated at 43(o)C or 44(o)C for the same period whereas the acid SMase activity was slightly increased after heating the cells at 42(o)C and 43(o)C and markedly increased at 44(o)C for 1 h. Treatment of cells with inhibitors of SMase activation and ceramide formation significantly reduced the heat-induced apoptosis. Three major families of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), i.e. ERK1/2, p38 and JNK, were activated by the hyperthermic treatment of cells. Inhibition of ERK1/2 with PD98059 exerted little effect on the heat-induced apoptosis and p38 inhibition with SB203580 slightly lessened apoptosis whereas, inhibition of JNK with SP600125 markedly suppressed the heat-induced apoptosis. These results indicate that heat-shock induced the activation of SMase, particularly acid-SMase, thereby causing apoptosis and that JNK played a pivotal role in heat-induced apoptosis in HL-60 leukemia cells.  相似文献

1,4-Dibromo-2,5-bis(bromomethyl)benzene was used as initiator in atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene in conjunction with CuBr/2,2-bipyridine as catalyst. The resulting macromonomer, with a central 2,5 dibromobenzene ring and the degree of polymerization of 16 at each side, was used in combination with 2,5-dihexylbenzene-1,4-diboronic acid, for a Suzuki coupling in the presence of Pd(PPh3)4 as catalyst. The obtained polyphenylene, with alternating polystyrene and hexyl side chains, has high solubility in common organic solvents at room temperature. The new polymer was characterized by GPC, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR and UV analysis. Thermal behavior of the precursor polystyrene macromonomer and the final polyphenylene was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimeter/calorimetry analyses and compared.  相似文献

A theoretical study of the mechanism and kinetics of the OH hydrogen abstraction from isopropylcyclopropane (IPCP) is presented. Optimum geometries, frequencies and gradients have been computed at the BHandHLYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory for all stationary points, as well as for additional points along the minimum energy path (MEP). Energies have been improved by single-point calculations at the above geometries using CCSD(T)/6-311++G(d,p) to produce the potential energy surface. The rate coefficients are calculated for the temperature range 260-350 K by using canonical variational theory (CVT) with small-curvature tunneling (SCT) corrections. Our analysis suggests a stepwise mechanism involving the formation of a reactant complex in the entrance channel and a product complex in the exit channel, for all the modeled paths. The reactant complexes are examined in detail, because they exhibit alkene-like structure. The excellent agreement between the overall calculated and experimental rate coefficients at 298 K supports the reliability of the parameters obtained for the temperature dependence and branching ratios of the IPCP + OH reaction, proposed here for the fist time. The expression that best describes the studied reaction is k(overall) = 6.15 x 10(-13)e1747/RT cm3 x molecule(-1) x s(-1). The predicted activation energy is -0.89 kcal/mol.  相似文献
