Kinetics of the photodissociation iodine laser with slow pumping

Systematic calculations of maximum inversion were performed for iodine photodissociation laser in dependence on the mixture composition. The flash-lamp radiation was modelled as emanating from an optically thin Xe plasma. Duration of the pumping pulse is about 300 s. The sensitivity of the model to the values of kinetic constants was also tested.     

Spectroscopic factors of9Be,10B and13C from (d,t) reactions

The differential cross sections of tritons from the (d, t) reaction on⁹Be,¹⁰B and¹³C targets have been measured in the angular range of 5° _LAB110° with relatively small errors, 5%. The experimental data were analysed in terms of the standard DWBA using both zero-range and exact finite-range approaches.     

Three-body Coulomb effects in neutral-particle-exchange singularity

In a three-body model with Coulomb interactions the Faddeev equations for the Alt-Grassberger-Sandhas transition operators are used to find the leading term of the neutron-transfer amplitude near the exchange singularity in the cos plane. We derive formulae containing three-body Coulomb effects for the renormalization of the second-order exchange pole in the calculation of observables, such as the cross section and polarizations.     

Production of light superpartners in π0 radiative decays

The production rate of light photinos in radiative pion decay \(\pi ^0 \to \gamma \tilde \gamma \tilde \gamma\) is calculated. Experimental constraints on masses and mass splittings of scalar quarks imply the following upper bound on the decay rate \(BR(\pi ^0 \to \gamma \tilde \gamma \tilde \gamma ) \lesssim 10^{ - 16}\) .     

Calculation of transverse and longitudinal space charge effects within the framework of the fully six-dimensional formalism

In the following report we describe a method for calculating the envelope of a particle bunch in linear coupled storage rings and transport systems in the presence of transverse and longitudinal space charge forces using the (canonical) variablesx, p _x ,z, p _z , σ=s?v ₀·t,p _σ=ΔE/E ₀ of the fully six-dimensional formalism. This work is an extension of earlier calculations on transverse space charge forces [1] to include the synchrotron oscillations. The extension is achieved by defining a 6-dimensional ellipsoid in thex?p _x ?z?p _z ?σ?p _σ space. The motion of this ellipsoid under the influence of the external fields and the instantaneous space charge forces can be described by six generating orbit vectors which can be combined into a 6-dimensional matrixB(s). This “bunch-shape matrix”,B(s), contains complete information about the configuration of the bunch. The solution of the equations of motion is carried through in the thin lens approximation. The formalism can also encompass acceleration by cavity fields.     

A fading effect in the X-ray diffraction contrast of dislocations

Fringes in the dislocation image in X-ray section topography are shown to fade away partially when unpolarized radiation is used. The fading effect is explained in terms of an analogy with the polarization beat in a wedge crystal. The polarization nature of the phenomenon is confirmed through numerical simulations of the contrast.Dedicated to Professor Dr. Ulrich Bonse on the occasion of his 60th birthday     

2-Amino-4,4-disubstituted-5-carboxymethyl-Δ2-1,3,4-oxadiazolin-4-ium chlorides and their recyclization in acetic anhydride

2-Methylamino-4,4-disubstituted-5-carboethoxymethyl-²-1,3,4-oxadiazolin -4-ium chlorides were obtained from the reaction of 1,1-disubstituted-4-methylsemicarbazides with ethyl propiolate in the presence of hydrochloric acid. After hydrolysis of the ester these chlorides recyclize in acetic anhydride to 1-substituted-3-acetoxy-1H-pyrazoles. The difference in the direction of ring opening with acetic anhydride in the betaines of 1,3,4-oxadiazolin-5-acetic acids and their thia-analogs has been demonstrated.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 12, pp. 1685–1688, 1992.     

Synthesis and investigation of the mesomorphic properties of pyran derivatives

4-[(5,6-Dihydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)methoxy]benzylidene-4-alkoxyanilines, which have the properties of smectic liquid crystals, were synthesized.
