Surface optical second-harmonic generation measurements were used to determine the change in the surface density and the surface orientational order parameter of the trans-cinnamoyl side groups of unidirectionally photopolymerized poly(vinyl cinnamate) (PVCN) films. The observed surface features were compared to the bulk properties of the films, which were probed by their UV absorption spectra and birefringence measurements. We found that the surface and the bulk photoreaction kinetics of the trans cinnamoyl side groups of the PVCN are very similar. The two photoreaction processes (trans-cis photoisomerization and photo-induced cross linking) appear to affect the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the polymer differently. This may explain the discrepancy between the birefringence and the azimuthal anchoring force of the unidirectionally photopolymerized PVCN.  相似文献

The electronic structure of Sr2RuO4 is investigated by high angular resolution ARPES at several incident photon energies. We address the controversial issues of the Fermi surface (FS) topology and the van Hove singularity at the M point, showing that a surface state and the replica of the primary FS due to sqrt[2]xsqrt[2] surface reconstruction are responsible for previous conflicting interpretations. The FS thus determined by ARPES is consistent with the de Haas-van Alphen results, and it provides additional information on the detailed shape of the alpha, beta, and gamma sheets.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity of the system Y2O3CeO2 was measured in the temperature range 500–1100°C and Po2 range 10–7?10?1 atm. Possible defect models were suggested on the basis of conductivity data, which were investigated as a function of temperature and of Po2. The observed activation energies were 0.40 eV and 1.79 eV in the low- and high-temperature regions, respectively. The observed conductivity dependences on Po2 were σ ∝ P16O2 in the temperature range 500–750°C and σ ∝ P15.3O2 at temperatures from 750–1100°C. It is suggested that the system Y2O3CeO2 shows a mixed ionic plus hole conduction due to an Oi defect and an electronic hole conduction due to a V'''Y defect in the low- and high-temperature regions, respectively.  相似文献

The characteristics of plasma produced by plane polarized m=±1 and m=±2 mode helicon waves were investigated for the first time. Plane polarized m=±1 and m=±2 mode helicon waves were mainly excited using a Nagoya type III antenna and a quadrupole antenna, respectively. Two-dimensional cross-field measurements of ArII optical emission induced by hot electrons were made to investigate the RF power deposition. The components of the wave magnetic field measured with a magnetic probe were compared with the field profiles computed for the m=±1 and m=±2 modes. Two and four high intensity plasma columns were observed for the m=±1 and m=±2modes, respectively. These columns were located at the regions between the antenna legs. The radial profiles of the wave magnetic field were in good agreement with computations  相似文献

We propose that competition between Kondo and magnetic correlations results in a novel universality class for heavy fermion quantum criticality in the presence of strong randomness. Starting from an Anderson lattice model with disorder, we derive an effective local field theory in the dynamical mean-field theory approximation, where randomness is introduced into both hybridization and Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) interactions. Performing the saddle-point analysis in the U(1) slave-boson representation, we reveal its phase diagram which shows a quantum phase transition from a spin liquid state to a local Fermi liquid phase. In contrast with the clean limit case of the Anderson lattice model, the effective hybridization given by holon condensation turns out to vanish, resulting from the zero mean value of the hybridization coupling constant. However, we show that the holon density becomes finite when the variance of the hybridization is sufficiently larger than that of the RKKY coupling, giving rise to the Kondo effect. On the other hand, when the variance of the hybridization becomes smaller than that of the RKKY coupling, the Kondo effect disappears, resulting in a fully symmetric paramagnetic state, adiabatically connected to the spin liquid state of the disordered Heisenberg model. We investigate the quantum critical point beyond the mean-field approximation. Introducing quantum corrections fully self-consistently in the non-crossing approximation, we prove that the local charge susceptibility has exactly the same critical exponent as the local spin susceptibility, suggesting an enhanced symmetry at the local quantum critical point. This leads us to propose novel duality between the Kondo singlet phase and the critical local moment state beyond the Landau-Ginzburg-Wilson paradigm. The Landau-Ginzburg-Wilson forbidden duality serves the mechanism of electron fractionalization in critical impurity dynamics, where such fractionalized excitations are identified with topological excitations.  相似文献

We study the electrically driven spreading of dielectric liquid films in wedge-shaped gaps across which a potential difference is applied. Our experiments are in a little-studied regime where, throughout the dynamics, the electrical relaxation time is long compared to the time for charge to be convected by the fluid motion. We observe that at a critical normal electric field the hump-shaped leading edge undergoes an instability in the form of a single Taylor cone and periodic jetting ensues, after which traveling waves occur along the trailing thin film. We propose a convection-dominated mechanism for charge transport to describe the observed dynamics and rationalize the viscosity dependence of the self-excited dynamics.  相似文献

We report an additional reversal mechanism of magnetic vortex cores in nanodot elements driven by currents flowing perpendicular to the sample plane, occurring via dynamic transformations between two coupled edge solitons and bulk vortex solitons. This mechanism differs completely from the well-known switching process mediated by the creation and annihilation of vortex-antivortex pairs in terms of the associated topological solitons, energies, and spin-wave emissions. Strongly localized out-of-plane gyrotropic fields induced by the fast motion of the coupled edge solitons enable a magnetization dip that plays a crucial role in the formation of the reversed core magnetization. This work provides a deeper physical insight into the dynamic transformations of magnetic topological solitons in nanoelements.  相似文献
