The purpose of this study was to determine whether proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (PMRS) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) indices, fractional anisotropy (FA) and mean diffusivity (MD) can be used to distinguish brain abscess from cystic brain tumors, which are difficult to distinguish by conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Fifty-three patients with intracranial cystic mass lesions and 10 normal controls were studied. Conventional MRI, PMRS and DTI of all the patients were performed on a 1.5-T GE scanner. Forty patients were with brain abscess and 13 with cystic tumors. Cytosolic amino acids (AAs) were present in 32 of 40 brain abscess patients. Out of 13 patients with cystic tumors, lactate and choline were seen in 3 and only lactate was present in 10 patients on PMRS. All 40 cases of abscess had high FA, while all 13 cases of tumor cysts had high MD values. We conclude that FA measurements are more sensitive in predicting the abscess, while PMRS and MD are more specific in differentiating abscess from cystic tumors. We suggest that PMRS should be combined with DTI rather than with diffusion-weighted imaging as FA can be used as an additional parameter for separation of abscess from other cystic intracranial mass lesions.  相似文献

A simple and rapid reversed‐phase high‐performance liquid chromatographic method for the separation and determination of 4‐amino‐azobenzene‐4′,5‐disulfonic acid (AABDS) and its process‐related impurities was developed. The separation was achieved on a μ‐Bondapak C18 column using 0.15 M ammonium sulfate‐acetonitrile (55:45) (v/v) as eluent. A UV‐visible spectrophotometric detector fixed at 386 nm was used both for detection and quantitation. The method was used not only for quality assurance but also for process development and wastewater management of AABDS.  相似文献

PSTi8 is a pancreastatin inhibitory peptide that is effective in the treatment of diabetic models. This study investigates the pharmacokinetic (PK) properties of PSTi8 in Sprague Dawley rats, for the first time. In vitro and in vivo PK studies were performed to evaluate the solubility, stability in plasma and liver microsomes, plasma protein binding, blood–plasma partitioning, bioavailability, dose proportionality, and gender difference in PK. Samples were analyzed using the validated LC-MS/MS method. The solubility of PSTi8 was found to be 9.30 and 25.75 mg/mL in simulated gastric and intestinal fluids, respectively. The protein binding of PSTi8 was estimated as >69% in rat plasma. PSTi8 showed high stability in rat plasma and liver microsomes and the blood–plasma partitioning was >2. The bioavailability of PSTi8 after intraperitoneal and subcutaneous administration was found to be 95.00 ± 12.15 and 78.47 ± 17.72%, respectively, in rats. PSTi8 showed non-linear PK in dose proportionality studies, and has no gender difference in the PK behavior in rats. The high bioavailability of PSTi8 can be due to high water solubility and plasma protein binding, low clearance and volume of distribution. Our in vitro and in vivo findings support the development of PSTi8 as an antidiabetic agent.  相似文献

Experimental studies on natural convection boiling of water in an internally heated narrow vertical annulus, with the liquid circulating through a cold leg forming a closed-loop thermo-siphon, have been carried out. The radius and aspect ratios of the annulus are 1.184 and 352, respectively. The experimental data, which consist of wall and liquid temperatures, liquid and vapor flow rates, and differential pressure across the test section, are recorded on a data logging system. The experiments have been performed for a constant heat flux of 15–35 kW/m2 from the startup period until the steady state to study the transient behavior of the system. The boiling and non-boiling zones in the annulus have been identified and presented graphically through the liquid and wall temperatures for the steady state. They have been also verified through the visual photographs of the flow patterns in the annulus. The flow is found to be oscillatory in nature with no particular trend. Although the experimental data seems to be scattered, but when analyzed for a short duration, they are found well within the ±3σ (three sigma). This confirms the quasi-steady-state condition of the system. The steady-state values of Reynolds number and liquid circulation rate come out to be 133.1–453.5 and 7.0–23.87 g/s, respectively, while the Nusselt number and heat transfer coefficient are 7.98–13.57 and 1433.57–2435.35 W/m2K, respectively. Mathematical correlations for liquid mass flow rates, heat transfer coefficient, Reynolds number, and Nusselt number have been developed and compared with the existing correlations, which are in good agreement.  相似文献

Electronically excited oxygen atoms O(21D2) have been generated by the pulsed irradiation of ozone in the Hartley-band continuum and monitored photoelectrically in absorption by time-resolved attenuation of atomic resonance radiation at λ = 115.2 nm [O(31D2°) → O(21D2)]. Collisional quenching of the excited atom has been investigated for all the noble gases, and the first absolute values for the second-order deactivation rate constants are reported. The resulting rate data are discussed in terms of a curve-crossing mechanism based on existing spectroscopic data for the noble gas oxides. The absolute rate constants are compared with previous relative rate data for the deactivation of O(21D2) by the noble gases.  相似文献
