Untersuchungen über die Biosynthese der Cyclite, 4. Mitt.: Bildung von meso-Inosit-5-14C aus Glucose-2-14C

Zusammenfassung Glucose-2-¹⁴C wurde jungen Pflänzchen vonSinapis alba appliziert und der daraus entstandene meso-Inosit isoliert. Durch selektiven Abbau konnte gezeigt werden, daß mehr als 90% der Aktivität im C-5 des meso-Inosits lokalisiert waren. Dies wird als Beweis dafür gewertet, daß Glucose ohne vorhergehende Fragmentierung in meso-Inosit umgebaut wird, wobei das C-2-Atom der Glucose zum C-5-Atom des meso-Inosits wird.     

Interior hölder estimates for solutions of schrödinger equations and the regularity of nodal sets

Abstract

Motivated by the study of selfdual vortices in gauge field theory, we consider a class of Mean Field equations of Liouville-type on compact surfaces involving singular data assigned by Dirac measures supported at finitely many points (the so called vortex points). According to the applications, we need to describe the blow-up behavior of solution-sequences which concentrate exactly at the given vortex points. We provide accurate pointwise estimates for the profile of the bubbling sequences as well as “sup + inf” estimates for solutions. Those results extend previous work of Li [Li, Y. Y. (1999). Harnack type inequality: The method of moving planes. Comm. Math. Phys. 200:421–444] and Brezis et al. [Brezis, H., Li, Y. Shafrir, I. (1993). A sup + inf inequality for some nonlinear elliptic equations involving the exponential nonlinearities. J. Funct. Anal. 115: 344–358] relative to the “regular” case, namely in absence of singular sources.     

Nodal domains and spectral minimal partitions

We consider two-dimensional Schrödinger operators in bounded domains. We analyze relations between the nodal domains of eigenfunctions, spectral minimal partitions and spectral properties of the corresponding operator. The main results concern the existence and regularity of the minimal partitions and the characterization of the minimal partitions associated with nodal sets as the nodal domains of Courant-sharp eigenfunctions.

Untersuchungen über bakteriostatische Chinone und andere Antibiotica

Zusammenfassung Es wurde die hemmende Wirkung verschiedener Antibiotica, hauptsächlich aus der Chinonreihe, auf die Eiweißspaltung durch Papain gemessen. Die Resultate ergaben, daß eine Übereinstimmung zwischen der Hemmung der Papainaktivität und der antibakteriellen Wirkung der untersuchten Substanzen besteht. Dagegen zeigten sich auffallende Analogien zwischen der Stärke der Hemmung beim Papain durch die einzelnen Substanzen und dem Einfluß derselben Stoffe auf die Aktivität von Katalase und Urease, über deren Messung in früheren Mitteilungen berichtet wurde.
