Incorporation experiments with¹⁴C-labelled precursors of mytilitol inChlorella fusca seem to indicate that the last step in the biosynthesis of mytilitol is an epimerization of laminitol (d-4-C-methyl-myo-inositol) to mytilitol.

Zusammenfassung Zum Studium der Biosynthese vonl-Quebrachit inArtemisia vulgaris undl-Pinit inArtemisia dracunculus wurden Einbauversuche mit markierteml-Inosit an Blättchen dieser Pflanzen vorgenommen.l-Inosit wird in beide Methyläther mit guter radiochemischer Ausbeute eingebaut. Im Gegensatz dazu wird Sequoyit (der 5-Methyläther des meso-Inosits) nicht inl-Pinit eingebaut. Es wird daraus geschlossen, daß bei der Umwandlung von meso-Inosit in die beiden Methyläther die Epimerisierung der Primärschritt ist, welchem die Methylierung an den entsprechenden Positionen folgt. Die Verhältnisse sind hier also grundlegend verschieden von denjenigen, die bei der Biosynthese desd-Pinits inTrifolium incarnatum gefunden wurden.The biosynthesis ofl-quebrachitol and ofl-pinitol was studied in leaflets ofArtemisia vulgaris and ofArtemisia dracunculus, respectively. Isotopically labelledl-inositol was found to be incorporated in good yield into both methyl ethers. Sequoyitol (the 5-methyl ether of meso-inositol), on the other hand, is not incorporated intol-pinitol. From this, it is concluded that in the conversion of meso-inositol into either of the two methyl ethers an epimerisation is the primary step, which is then followed by a methylation in the respective positions. Thus, the situation here is fundamentally different from those previously found in studies of the biosynthesis ofd-pinitol inTrifolium incarnatum.6. Mitt.:R. Scholda, G. Billek undO. Zusammenfassung Mit der Absicht, die erhaltenen Werte als Grundlage für spätere Untersuchungen über Veränderungen unter pathologischen Bedingungen zu benützen, wurde es unternommen, den Gehalt an oxydierten und reduzierten Pyridinnucleotiden in Leber, Niere, Herz und Hirn normaler Meerschweinchen zu bestimmen.Herrn Prof. Dr.L. Ebert zum 60. Geburtstag gewidmet.     

Untersuchungen über die Biosynthese der Cyclite, 8.Mitt.: Der Mechanismus der Umwandlung von meso-Inosit ind-Pinit undd-Inosit inTrifolium incarnatum

Zusammenfassung In Fortsetzung früherer Arbeiten aus unserem Laboratorium^2,3 wurden Einbauversuche mit markierten möglichen Vorstufen vond-Pinit undd-Inosit in Blättchen vonTrifolium incarnatum vorgenommen. Dabei zeigte sich, daß sowohl Sequoyit als auch 5-O-Methyl-(+)-vibo-inosose mit ausgezeichneter radiochemischer Ausbeute ind-Pinit eingebaut werden. Damit konnte der Biosyntheseweg desd-Pinits ausgehend vonmeso-Inosit genau festgelegt werden; er verläuft über Sequoyit und 5-O-Methyl-(+)-vibo-inosose. Markierte (+)-vibo-Inosose wird in den Blättchen der Pflanze ind-Inosit übergeführt; es kann aber nicht mit Sicherheit behauptet werden, daß dieser Reaktion eine biologische Bedeutung zukommt. Es ist vielmehr anzunehmen, daß zumindest die Hauptmenge des in der Pflanze vorkommendend-Inosits durch Entmethylierung vond-Pinit entsteht.In continuation of earlier work^2,3 the incorporation of isotopically labelled potential precursors intod-pinitol andd-inositol was studied in leaflets ofTrijolium incarnatum. Sequoyitol as well as 5-O-methyl-(+)-vibo-inosose were shown to be incorporated intod-pinitol in excellent yield and have thus been clearly established as intermediates in the biosynthesis ofd-pinitol frommeso-inositol. In the leaflets ofTrifolium incarnatum labelled (+)-vibo-inosose proved to give rise tod-inositol. It is not claimed, however, that the latter reaction is of biological importance, because at least the larger portion of thed-inositol occurring in the plant appears to arise fromd-pinitol by demethylation.7. L 2-exponential lower bounds to solutions of the Schrödinger equation

We study decay properties of solutions of the Schrödinger equation (–+V)=E. Typical of our results is one which shows that ifV=o(|x|^–1/2) at infinity or ifV is a homogeneousN-body potential (for example atomic or molecular), then ifE<0 and .
