Behaviour of copper(II) and nickel(II) dialkyldithiocarbamates on polar and non-polar stationary phases

Summary Fifteen Dialkyldithiocarbamate complexes each of copper(II) and Ni(II) have been prepared and the retention times of these complexes have been measured on the non-polar OV-101 phase and the polar NGA and OV-225 phases. The relationship has been studied between the retention characteristics of the complexes and their structure. The lenght of the alkyl substituent, regarded as a steric hindrance, turned out to affect the retention of the complexes on the non-polar phases.

Verhalten von Kupfer(II)- und Nickel(II)-dialkyldithiocarbamaten auf polaren und unpolaren stationären Phasen

Zusammenfassung Je 15 Dialkyldithiocarbamatkomplexe von Kupfer(II) und Nickel(II) wurden dargestellt und ihre Retentionszeiten auf der unpolaren Phase OV-101 sowie den polaren Phasen NGA und OV-225 gemessen. Die Beziehung zwischen der Retentionscharakteristik der Komplexe und ihrer Struktur wurde untersucht. Es zeigte sich, daß die Länge des Alkylsubstituenten (als sterische Hinderung) die Retention auf der unpolaren Phase beeinträchtigt.

     

Experimental dependence of two-photon absorption efficiency on statistical properties of laser light

The fluorescence intensity excited by two-photon absorption of the 514.5 nm argon laser line has been investigated for various oxasol derivatives. The fluorescence intensity was dependent on the statistical properties of the 514.5 nm argon laser line and was a factor 1.52-1.86 larger for absorption of a multifrequency laser line than in the case of a single frequency laser line.     

Variational calculations of the lowest 2S and 2P states of the Li atom

The lowest variational upper bounds to the lowest ²S state of ?7.478044 au and to the lowest ²P state of ?7.410097 au of the lithium atom are obtained.     

Enhanced Ratiometric pH Sensing Using SNAFL-2 on Silver Island Films: Metal-enhanced Fluorescence Sensing

We have explored the opportunities for enhanced ratiometric pH sensing using the well-known carboxy seminaphthofluorescein (SNAFL-2) and silver island films (SiFs). Our results show that the metallic surfaces can provide up to a 40-fold increase in probe fluorescence intensity as compared to nonmetallic surfaces with the same probe coverage. However, while the S/N is significantly better for pH sensing, the emission wavelength ratiometric values are similar to that obtained in solution, due to the fact that the emission of both the acidic and basic forms of the probe are enhanced to similar extents. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report of enhanced ratiometric fluorescence sensing on metallic surfaces.     

Omega- and Omega+ production in central Pb + Pb collisions at 40 and 158A GeV

Results are presented on Omega production in central Pb+Pb collisions at 40 and 158A GeV beam energy. For the first time in heavy ion reactions, rapidity distributions and total yields were measured for the sum Omega(-) + Omega(+) at 40A GeV and for Omega(-) and Omega(+) separately at 158A GeV. The yields are strongly underpredicted by the string-hadronic UrQMD model but agree better with predictions from hadron gas models.     

Isometric copies of and in Orlicz spaces equipped with the Orlicz norm

Criteria in order that an Orlicz space equipped with the Orlicz norm contains a linearly isometric copy (or an order linearly isometric copy) of (or ) are given.

     

Condensations of projective sets onto compacta

For a coanalytic-complete or -complete subspace of a Polish space we prove that there exists a continuous bijection of onto the Hilbert cube . This extends results of Pytkeev. As an application of our main theorem we give an answer to some questions of Arkhangelskii and Christensen.

Under the assumption of Projective Determinacy we also give some generalizations of these results to higher projective classes.
