Implicit functions from topological vector spaces to Banach spaces

We prove implicit function theorems for mappings on topological vector spaces over valued fields. In the real and complex cases, we obtain implicit function theorems for mappings from arbitrary (not necessarily locally convex) topological vector spaces to Banach spaces.     

Long-term results of recurrent laryngeal nerve resection for adductor spasmodic dysphonia

From a total of 43 adductor spasmodic patients over a 10-year period, 11 underwent resection of a portion of the recurrent laryngeal nerve on one side. The initial results were excellent but a varying degree of recurrence took place in 8 patients. In 4, a reoperation was done. At the final follow-up, 2–8 years after the primary operation, 4 patients were no longer suffering from spasmodic dysphonia, another 5 were better off than before surgery, and 1 remained unchanged. Only 1 was worse off. Electromyographic findings indicated that the recurrence of symptoms was due to regeneration of the nerve fibers.     

Mass spectrometry of halo-pyrazolium salts

Eleven halogen substituted 1-methyl-2-phenylpyrazolium bromides or chlorides were investigated by field desorption, field ionization, and electron impact mass spectrometry. Dealkylation was found to be the predominant thermal decomposition. An exchange between covalent and ionic halogen prior to dealkylation was observed and is discussed in detail.     

Determination of organic and inorganic mercury compounds by reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography after extraction of the mercuries as alkyldithiocarbamate chelates

Summary Reverse-phase separation of organic and inorganic mercury as alkyldithiocarbamate chelates was investigated. Three different ODS columns with varying silanol activity were tested. Complete resolution between methyl-, ethyl-, phenyl- and inorganic mercury was obtained with both diethyldithiocarbamate and pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate as chelating agent. The complexes were formed by liquid/liquid extraction from a buffer of pH 9.5 into chloroform. They were separated with a mobile phase made of a mixture of methanol/water or methanol/acetonitrile/ water, in both cases containing 50–100 M EDTA and 0–40 M alkyldithiocarbamate. They were detected by an UV spectrophotometer at 254 nm. The detection limits ranged from 0.15 to 0.5 ng.

Bestimmung von organischen und anorganischen Quecksilberverbindungen durch Umkehrphasen-HPLC nach Extraktion des Quecksilbers als Alkyldithiocarbamat-Chelat

Zusammenfassung Für das Verfahren wurden drei verschiedene ODS-Säulen mit verschiedener Silanolaktivität geprüft. Eine vollständige Trennung von Methyl, Ethyl-, Phenyl- und anorganischen Quecksilberverbindungen wurde mit Diethyldithiocarbamat und Pyrrolidindithiocarbamat als Chelatreagentien erreicht. Die Komplexe wurden durch Extraktion aus einem Puffer vom pH 9,5 in Chloroform gebildet. Sie wurden mit Hilfe einer mobilen Phase getrennt, die aus einer Mischung von Methanol/Wasser oder Methanol/Acetonitril/Wasser unter Zusatz von 50–100 M EDTA und 0–40 M Alkyldithiocarbamat bestand. Detektion erfolgte durch UV-Spektrophotometrie bei 254 nm. Die Nachweisgrenzen lagen bei 0,15 bis 0,5 ng.

     

The short range expansion

Let V_i be short range potential and λ_i(ε) analytic functions. We show that the Hamiltonians H_ε = −Δ + ε⁻²∑_{i = l}ⁿλ_i(ε)V_i((· − x_i)/ε converge in the strong resolvent sense to the point interactions as ε → 0, and if V_i have compact support then the eigenvalues and resonances of H_ε, which remains bounded as ε → 0, are analytic in ε in a complex neighborhood of zero. We compute in closed form the eigenvalues and resonances of H_ε to the first order in ε.     

Scattered C1-algebras with almost finite spectrum

The paper gives a complete classification of all separable C¹-algebras with countable spectrum, for which each point in the spectrum has a finite neighbourhood.

Lower Chalcogen Fluorides. IX. Preparation and Characterization of SF₃SSF During cocondensation of SF₂ and SSF₂ the new compound 1,3-Difluorotrisulphane-1,1-difluoride is formed in low yield and can be isolated by means of low temperature fractionation. The compound was unequivocally characterized by ¹⁹F-n.m.r,i.r.,Raman, and mass spectra. The unstable compound ist a colourless, viscous liquid with an extrapolated boiling point of 94°C and a melting point of ?62°C. It decomposes to SF₄ and SSF₂ in the gas phase.
