In this study, poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), polyindole (PIN), and PVC/PIN conducting composites having five different compositions were used. Particle sizes, densities, dielectric constants, and sedimentation ratios of the materials were determined. The zeta‐potentials of the samples were measured in aqueous and nonaqueous (silicone oil [SO]) media. The dispersions prepared in SO were subjected to external electric field strength, and their electrorheological properties were investigated. Then the effects of dispersed particle volume fraction, shear rate, external electric field strength, frequency, and temperature onto electrorheological activities of the dispersions were examined. Further, creep and creep‐recovery tests were applied to the PIN/SO and PVC/PIN/SO dispersions, and reversible viscoelastic deformations were observed. Finally, the vibration damping capacity of PVC (66%)/PIN (34%)/SO dispersion system was tested by using an automobile shock absorber. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We focus on the resource provisioning problem of a cloud consumer from an Infrastructure-as-a-Service type of cloud. The cloud provider offers two deployment options, which can be mixed and matched as appropriate. Cloud instances may be reserved for a fixed time period in advance at a smaller usage cost per hour but require a full commitment and payment for the entire contract duration. In contrast, on-demand instances reflect a pay-as-you-go policy at a premium. The trade-off between these two options is rooted in the inherent uncertainty in demand and price and makes it attractive to complement a base reserved capacity with on-demand capacity to hedge against the spikes in demand. This paper provides several novel multi-stage stochastic programming formulations to enable a cloud consumer to handle the cloud resource provisioning problem at a tactical level. We first formulate the cloud resource provisioning problem as a risk-neutral multi-stage stochastic program, which serves as the base model for further modeling variants. In our second set of models, we also incorporate a certain concept of system reliability. In particular, chance constraints integrated into the base formulation require a minimum service level met from reserved capacity, provide more visibility into the future available capacity, and smooth out expensive on-demand usage by hedging against possible demand fluctuations. An extensive computational study demonstrates the value of the proposed models by discussing computational performance, gleaning practical managerial insights from the analysis of the solutions of the proposed models, and quantifying the value of the stochastic solutions.  相似文献

This letter focuses on the derivation of the hitting probabilities of diffusing particles absorbed by an agent in a bounded environment. In particular, we analogously consider the impulse response of a molecular communication channel in a 2-D and 3-D environment. In 2-D, the channel involves a point transmitter that releases molecules to a circular absorbing receiver that absorbs incoming molecules in an environment surrounded by a circular reflecting boundary. Considering this setup, the joint distribution of the molecules on the circular absorbing receiver with respect to time and angle is derived. Using this distribution, the channel characteristics are examined. Then, we extend this channel model to 3-D using a cylindrical receiver and investigate the channel properties. We also propose how to obtain an analytic estimate for the unbounded 2-D channel from our derived solutions, as no analytic derivation for this channel is present in the literature. Throughout the letter, we perform particle-based simulations to compare the analytic results and lay evidence for our findings.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring and let F be a filter of ideals of R. We give three characterizations of the rings with the property that all finitely generated F pretorsion R modules decompose into a direct sum of cyclic R submodules. One of these characterizations involves decomposing the filter F into a product of subfilters. This filter decomposition is shown to be unique, and is used to characterize several other ring properties relative to the filter of ideals.  相似文献

Spatial unmasking describes the improvement in the detection or identification of a target sound afforded by separating it spatially from simultaneous masking sounds. This effect has been studied extensively for speech intelligibility in the presence of interfering sounds. In the current study, listeners identified zebra finch song, which shares many acoustic properties with speech but lacks semantic and linguistic content. Three maskers with the same long-term spectral content but different short-term statistics were used: (1) chorus (combinations of unfamiliar zebra finch songs), (2) song-shaped noise (broadband noise with the average spectrum of chorus), and (3) chorus-modulated noise (song-shaped noise multiplied by the broadband envelope from a chorus masker). The amount of masking and spatial unmasking depended on the masker and there was evidence of release from both energetic and informational masking. Spatial unmasking was greatest for the statistically similar chorus masker. For the two noise maskers, there was less spatial unmasking and it was wholly accounted for by the relative target and masker levels at the acoustically better ear. The results share many features with analogous results using speech targets, suggesting that spatial separation aids in the segregation of complex natural sounds through mechanisms that are not specific to speech.  相似文献

The electronic absorption spectra of four azo dyes with different substituents (such as Cl, I, OH) are determined at room temperature in twenty-one solvents with different polarities. The electronic transitions of azo dyes are interpreted. Linear solvation energy relationships have been investigated for solvatochromic behaviors and solute-solvent interactions of azo dyes. Linear solvation energy relationships were performed by multiple linear regression analysis using dielectric function, refractive index function and Kamlet-Taft parameters. We have observed that the hydrogen bonding acceptor ability and the induction-dispersive forces of solvent molecules have caused the bathochromic shift in absorption maxima of azo dyes.  相似文献

2-Arylimino-3-aryl-thiazolidine-4-thiones were synthesized from the corresponding thiazolidine-4-ones using Lawesson's reagent (LR) and converted into 5-benzylidine-2-arylimino-3-aryl-thiazolidine-4-thiones by reaction with benzaldehyde, which were then used as heterodienes in the inverse-electron-demand hetero Diels–Alder cycloadditions with norbornene as a dienophile at 25 °C. The reactions with norbornene were found to proceed with 100% exo-selectivity as determined by NMR experiments. The hetero Diels–Alder reactions with axially chiral heterodienes with ΔG#>116 kJ/mol showed kinetic atroposelectivities up to 11:1. However, the products were found to equilibrate, as revealed by the 97.1 kJ/mol barrier to hindered rotation of the most sterically hindered product, to produce 2:1 diastereoselectivities after the 24 h reaction time.  相似文献

A new amperometric biosensor based on urate oxidase-peroxidase coupled enzyme system for the specific and selective determination of uric acid in urine was developed. Commercially available urate oxidase and peroxidase were immobilized with gelatin by using glutaraldehyde and fixed on a pretreated teflon membrane. The method is based on generation of H2O2 from urine uric acid by urate oxidase and its consuming by peroxidase and then measurement of the decreasing of dissolved oxygen concentration by the biosensor. The biosensor response depends linearly on uric acid concentration between 0.1 and 0.5 μM. In the optimization studies of the biosensor, phosphate buffer (pH 7.5; 50 mM) and 35 °C were obtained as the optimum working conditions. In addition, the most suitable enzyme activities were found as 64.9×10−3 U cm−2 for urate oxidase and 512.7 U cm−2 for peroxidase. And also some characteristic studies of the biosensor such as reproducibility, substrate specificity and storage stability were carried out.  相似文献

Viscosities, apparent molal volumes, compressibilities and expansivities of lauric, palmitic and stearic acids and their triglycerides, trilaurin, tripalmitin and tristearin, were determined in benzene at 20, 30, 40 and 60 °C. Accurate density and sound velocity measurements carried out simultaneously with a high-precision vibrating-tube densimeter and sound velocity measuring device were utilized in deriving volume, compressibility and expansivity data. Viscosities were measured with Ostwald type viscometers. Infinite dilution values of the apparent molal volumes and compressibilities were obtained by an extrapolation procedure. Apparent molal expansivities at infinite dilution were obtained from the temperature dependence of the apparent molar volume at infinite dilution. The properties at infinite dilution were evaluated in terms of solute-solvent interactions. Volumetric results in benzene were compared with the corresponding data estimated from group contributions in aqueous solutions using the additivity rule.  相似文献

We survey results concerning a new stochastic network we have developed [1–7], which was initially motivated by neural network modelling [1], or — as we called it — by queueing networks with positive and negative customers [2, 3]. Indeed, it is well known that signals in neural networks are formed by impulses or action potentials, traveling much like customers in a queueing network. We call this model a G-network because it serves as a unifying basis for diverse areas of stochastic modelling in queueing networks, computer networks, computer system performance and neural networks. In its simplest version, negative and positive signals or customers circulate among a finite set of units, modelling inhibitory and excitatory signals of a neural network, or negative and positive customers of a queueing network. Signals can arrive either from other units or from the outside world. Positive signals are accumulated at the input of each unit, and constitute its signal potential. The state of each unit or neuron is its signal potential (which is equivalent to the queue length), while the network state is the vector of signal potentials at each neuron. If its potential is positive, a unit or neuron fires, and sends out signals to the other neurons or to the outside world. As it does so, its signal potential is depleted. In the Markovian case, this model has product form, i.e. the steady-state probability distribution of its potential vector is the product of the marginal probabilities of the potential at each neuron. The signal flow equations of the network, which describe the rate at which positive or negative signals arrive to each neuron, are non-linear. We discuss the relationship between this model and the usual connectionist (formal) model of neural networks, and present applications to combinatorial optimization and to image texture processing. Extensions of the model to the case of multiple signal classes, and to networks with triggered customer motion are presented. We also examine the general stability conditions which guarantee that the network has a well-defined steady-state behaviour.  相似文献
