Stagnation slip flow and heat transfer characteristics of a viscous fluid over a nonlinear stretching surface has been investigated. The governing partial differential equations are transformed to nonlinear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. The analytical solution of the nonlinear system is obtained in series form using the very efficient homotopy analysis method (HAM). Convergence of the series solution is shown explicitly. Important features of flow and heat transfer characteristics are plotted and discussed. Here formulation and computations are presented to introduce the novel concept of activation energy in chemically reacting stagnation point flow towards a stretching sheet. Constitutive expression for Cross liquid is taken into account. Magnetic field is utilised in the transverse direction. Application of suitable variables generates the non-linear differential systems. Numerical solution by Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg approach is presented. Characteristics for the significant variables like Weissenberg number, Hartmann number, Schmidt number, activation energy chemical reaction parameter, velocity ratio parameter and Prandtl number on the physical quantities are addressed through graphs and tables. Our computations reveal that species concentration rises via larger activation energy parameter whereas it decays when Schmidt number is incremented. The Weissenberg number has opposite characteristics for local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers when compared with surface drag force.  相似文献

This paper is an analysis of the peristaltic flow of an Oldroyd‐B fluid in a channel with compliant walls. The flow is induced by the sinusoidal waves on the channel walls. A series solution of the resulting boundary value problem is derived under small amplitude assumption. Emphasis is placed on determining the effects of various interesting flow parameters. The present analysis comprises the steady two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic flow of an upper-convected Maxwell fluid near a stagnation-point over a stretching surface. The governing non-linear partial differential equation for the flow are reduced to an ordinary differential equation by using similarity transformations. The analytic solution of nonlinear system is constructed in the series form using Homotopy analysis method. Convergence of the obtained series is discussed explicitly. The effects of the sundry parameters on the velocity profile is shown through graphs. The values of skin-friction coefficient for different parameters is tabulated.  相似文献

This article looks into the unsteady rotating magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of an incompressible second grade fluid in a porous half space. The flow is induced by a suddenly moved plate in its own plane. Both the fluid and plate rotate in unison with the same angular velocity. Analytic solution of the governing flow problem is obtained by using Fourier sine transform. Based on the modified Darcy's law, expression for velocity is obtained. The influence of pertinent parameters on the flow is delineated and appropriate conclusions are drawn. Several existing solutions of Newtonian fluid have been also deduced as limiting cases.  相似文献
