Track Extensions of Categories and Cohomology

We introduce the notion of n-fold track extensions of a category C by a natural system D and prove that such extensions represent classes in the cohomology of C with coefficients in D introduced by Baues–Wirsching. This generalizes a result of Huebschmann on the cohomology of groups.

Investigations of the crystal growth of PbMoO4 by the Czochralski method

The thermal conditions at the liquid/solid interface are characterized by temperature measurements in the melt and on the growing crystal with 〈001〉-seed orientation. The thermal boundary layer was determined, from which the relation of effective thermal conductivity of the liquid and solid phase was found to be λ_l,eff/λ_s,eff = 0.25. The liquid/solid interface is extremly convex towards the melt and has a conical shape. When the crystal diameter reaches a certain value the cone was truncated with the formation of a facet in the centre. This typical interface shape is mainly the result of a difference between the effective thermal conductivity of melt and crystal.     

A new semigroup technique in poisson approximation

We present a unified and self-contained approach to Poisson approximation problems for independent Bernoulli summands with respect to several metrics by a general semigroup technique, expanding and completing earlier work on this subject by the first two authors [4], [5], [6].     

Investigation of a supersonic free jet by means of a laser anemometer

The present paper reports on experimental investigations conducted by means of a laser anemometer in order to analyze a supersonic free jet escaping from a non-divergent nozzle into the free atmosphere. As the free jet is generated in a shock tube, thereby presenting a blow time of the order of 1 ms only, the laser anemometer also proved to be very suitable as a measuring probe to study transient phenomena involving high flow velocities. The experimental results achieved are compared to theoretical predictions.
