In this note we prove relations between Cartan invariants in characteristc p and p defect zero elements. Exploiting duality arguments in characteristic two we show that the existence of real 2-defect zero elements is equivalent to the existence of odd diagonal entries in the Cartan matrix corresponding to real-valued Brauer characters. Let k be a field, and let S,T,S1,T1 be skew-symmetric matrices over k with S,S1 both nonsingular (if k has characteristic 2, a skew-symmetric matrix is a symmetric one with zero diagonal). It is shown that there exists a nonsingular matrix P over k with P'SP = S1, P'TP = T1 (where P' denotes the transpose of P) if and only if S-1T and S-11T1 are similar. It is also shown that a 2m×2m matrix over k can be factored as ST, with S,T skew-symmetric and S nonsingular, if and only if A is similar to a matrix direct sum BB where B is an m×m matrix over k. This is equivalent to saying that all elementary divisors of A occur with even multiplicity. An extension of this result giving necessary and sufficient conditions for a square matrix to be so expressible, without assuming that either S or T is nonsingular, is included.  相似文献

A modified Clausius equation of state with a single temperature dependent energy-volume parameter a(T) in the attractive term was designed to describe the vapor pressure vs. temperature relationship of 39 pure refrigerant fluids including elementary cryogenic materials (e.g. He, Ar, N2, CO2, CH4, etc.), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), fluorocarbons (FCs), and various other simple cryogenic compounds. The equation developed represents the vapor-liquid coexistence dome, and the superheated vapor compressibility factor and enthalpy for pure refrigerants.

The vapor-liquid equilibrium for refrigerant mixtures is calculated using a “phi-phi” method with “one fluid” van der Waals mixing and combining rules for the equation of state parameters aM(T), bM and cM. A single interaction constant k12 is used to describe non-ideal behavior of each binary. The binary interaction constant, which is a strong function of temperature, and the sign of which signifies the type of deviations from Raoult's law, is obtained by correlating experimental bubble point data for isothermal binary refrigerant mixtures. The proposed equation of state generally describes binary P-x,y data more accurately the higher the temperature for a given system. The method presented is extended to predict vapor-liquid equilibria for the R14-R23-R13 ternary system at 198.75 K using binary interaction constants at this temperature for the three binaries involved.  相似文献

Jonathan Brundan and Alexander Kleshchev recently introduced a new family of presentations for the Yangian Y of the general linear Lie algebra . In this article, we extend some of their ideas to consider the Yangian Y of the Lie superalgebra . In particular, we give a new proof of the result by Nazarov that the quantum Berezinian is central. We describe a Gauss decomposition for the Yangian of the general linear Lie superalgebra. This gives a connection between this Yangian and the Yangian of the classical Lie superalgebra Y(A(m − 1, n − 1)) (for mn) defined and studied in papers by Stukopin, and suggests natural definitions for the Yangians and Y(A(n, n)). We also show that the coefficients of the quantum Berezinian generate the centre of the Yangian . This was conjectured by Nazarov in 1991.  相似文献

Suppose that G is a finite group. We show that every 2-block of G has a defect class which is real. As a partial converse, we show that if G has a real 2-regular class with defect group D and if N(D)/D has no dihedral subgroup of order 8, then G has a real 2-block with defect group D. More generally, we show that every 2-block of G which is weakly regular relative to some normal subgroup N has a defect class which is real and contained in N. We give several applications of these results and also investigate some consequences of the existence of non-real 2-blocks.  相似文献
