Investigation of nonequilibrium two-phase flows in axisymmetric laval nozzles

The singularities of two-phase flows in Laval nozzles were investigated within the framework of the model of a two-fluid continuous medium [1, 2] mainly in a quasi-one-dimensional approximation ([3] and the bibliography therein). Two-dimensional computations of such flows were performed only recently by using the method of buildup [4–7]. However, systematic computations to clarify the influence of the second phase on such fundamental nozzle characteristics as the magnitude of the specific impulse, its losses, and discharge coefficient were performed only in the quasi-one-dimensional approximation [8, 9] and only for the supersonic parts of the nozzle in the two-dimensional approximation under the assumption of uniform flow in the throat [10, 3]. Such an investigation is performed in this paper in the two-dimensional case for the nozzle as a whole, including the sub-, trans-, and supersonic flow domains, and a comparative analysis is given of the magnitudes of the loss of a unit pulse obtained in the quasi-one-dimensional approximation [8].Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 6, pp. 86–91, November–December, 1977.     

1,4-Conjugate addition of 2-hydroxynaphthazarins to acyclic and cyclic α,β-unsaturated ketones. Prototropic ring-chain tautomerism of the adducts

TsOH-Catalyzed reactions of 6,7-disubstituted 2-hydroxynaphthazarins and acyclic or cyclic α,β-enones afforded the corresponding Michael-type adducts, viz., 3-substituted naphthazarins in 17–78% yields. ¹H and ¹³C NMR and IR spectroscopy showed that the adducts with cyclohexenone and methyl vinyl ketone exist in CDCl₃ solutions as mixtures of open-chain and cyclic tautomers, whereas the adducts with cyclopentenones exist only as the open-chain forms.     

Aerothermodynamics calculation of thermal destruction of “Fregat” upper stage at descent in the Earth’s atmosphere

The engineering calculation method has been developed for investigation of the process of thermal destruction of “Fregat” upper stage at deorbiting and descent into the Earth’s atmosphere. The results of calculation of its descent trajectory and characteristics of aerodynamic heating are presented. Within the framework of the thermodynamic approach, the authors investigated the process of pressure increase in the tanks due to heating and evaporation of the liquid phase of fuel. Stresses in the shells, the height and the energy equivalent of explosive destruction of tanks were calculated depending on the degree of their filling with remains of the components of liquid fuel.     

Sorption of Silver and Chemiluminescent Activity of Clinoptilolite

Sorption conditions of ions and colloidal particles of silver by a zeolite (clinoptilolite) and clays, and specific features of distribution of absorbed silver in clinoptilolite grains were studied. Temperature dependences of the intensity of heterogeneous chemiluminescence from samples of natural clinoptilolite and its modified forms were obtained. The activation energies of the luminescence-active chemisorption of oxygen on electron-donor centers of the zeolite surface and relative amount of centers were determined.     

The effect of functional substitution on thermal stability of pyridinylporphyrins under argon atmosphere

The data on thermal stability under argon atmosphere of a series of porphyrin ligands containing meso- and β-positioned electron-donor (Me, Et, or Ph) groups as well as electron-acceptor pyridinyl substituents differing in the heteroatom location are presented. Thermogravimetric analysis and electron absorption spectroscopy studies have shown that pyridinylporphyrins are thermally stable at heating to 360–500°С depending on the functional substitution in the molecule.
