The electronic structure of a hydrogen-like atom located at interstitial sites of the silicon and diamond crystals is calculated by the intermediate neglect of differential overlap (INDO) method. Calculations of the electronic g- and hyperfine interaction tensors of the impurity atom are performed. The results obtained are compared with the experimental properties of both “anomalous” muonium and hydrogen centers. It is shown that the most likely model for these centers in silicon and diamond is that in which interstitial neutral hydrogen-like atom locates at the bond-center site.  相似文献

Performance on tests of pure-tone thresholds, speech-recognition thresholds, and speech-recognition scores for the two ears of each subject were evaluated in two groups of adults with bilateral hearing losses. One group was composed of individuals fitted with binaural hearing aids, and the other group included persons with monaural hearing aids. Performance prior to the use of hearing aids was compared to performance after 4-5 years of hearing aid use in order to determine whether the unaided ear would show effects of auditory deprivation. There were no differences over time for pure-tone thresholds or speech-recognition thresholds for both ears of both groups. Nevertheless, the results revealed that the speech-recognition difference scores of the binaurally fitted subjects remained stable over time whereas they increased for the monaurally fitted subjects. The findings reveal an auditory deprivation effect for the unfitted ears of the subjects with monaural hearing aids.  相似文献

Abstract. Detonation and deflagration initiation under focusing conditions in a lean hydrogen-air mixture was experimentally investigated. The experiments were carried out in a shock tube equipped with the laser schlieren system and pressure transducers. Two-dimensional wedges (53° and 90°), semi-cylinder and parabola, were used as the focusing elements. The peculiarities of mild and strong ignition inside the reflector cavity were visualized. A hydrogen-nitrogen mixture was taken for comparison between reactive and inert mixture. It was found that mild ignition inside the reflector cavity can lead to detonation initiation outside the cavity. Schlieren pictures of the process were obtained and the dependence of the distance of detonation initiation on Mach number of the incident shock wave was established. In many applications involving spatial point patterns, we find evidence of inhibition or repulsion. The most commonly used class of models for such settings are the Gibbs point processes. A recent alternative, at least to the statistical community, is the determinantal point process. Here, we examine model fitting and inference for both of these classes of processes in a Bayesian framework. While usual MCMC model fitting can be available, the algorithms are complex and are not always well behaved. We propose using approximate Bayesian computation (ABC) for such fitting. This approach becomes attractive because, though likelihoods are very challenging to work with for these processes, generation of realizations given parameter values is relatively straightforward. As a result, the ABC fitting approach is well-suited for these models. In addition, such simulation makes them well-suited for posterior predictive inference as well as for model assessment. We provide details for all of the above along with some simulation investigation and an illustrative analysis of a point pattern of tree data exhibiting repulsion. Moraxella catarrhalis is one of the major otopathogens of otitis media (OM) in childhood. M. catarrhalis tends to form biofilm, which contributes to the chronicity and recurrence of infections, as well as resistance to antibiotic treatment. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of antimicrobial blue light (aBL; 405 nm), an innovative nonpharmacological approach, for the inactivation of M. catarrhalis OM. M. catarrhalis either in planktonic suspensions or 24-h old biofilms were exposed to aBL at the irradiance of 60 mW cm−2. Under an aBL exposure of 216 J cm−2, a >4-log10 colony-forming units (CFU) reduction in planktonic suspensions and a >3-log10 CFU reduction in biofilms were observed. Both transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy revealed aBL-induced morphological damage in M. catarrhalis. Ultraperformance liquid chromatography results indicated that protoporphyrin IX and coproporphyrin were the two most abundant species of endogenous photosensitizing porphyrins. No statistically significant reduction in the viability of HaCaT cells was observed after an aBL exposure of up to 216 J cm−2. Collectively, our results suggest that aBL is potentially an effective and safe alternative therapy for OM caused by M. catarrhalis. Further in vivo studies are warranted before this optical approach can be moved to the clinics.  相似文献

For a relation A (C × D), where C,D are two finite sets, and an ordering σ of C we construct a matroid M(σ) on the set D. For the relation A with the incidence matrix  we also define a geometrical basis with respect to F, where F is a subset of the set of all circuits of the column matroid on Â. Geometrical bases are certain bases of this column matroid. We establish connections between the bases of matroids M(σ) and the geometrical bases of A with respect to F. These connections give a combinatorial way of constructing bases of the column matroid on  using a subset F of its circuits.

We also consider a matroid M and the incidence relation between what we call the extended circuits of M and the bases of M. Applying the technique above we obtain the matroids M(σ) on the set of bases of the matroid M. In case of the incidence relation between vertices and edges of a graph this technique yields a unique matroid, the usual matroid of the graph.

Some particular relations are considered: a class of relations with a certain property (the T-property) and the relation of inclusion of chambers in simplices in an affine point configuration.  相似文献

Initiation of detonation by a turbulent jet of combustion products has been studied in a detonation tube of 141 mm inner diameter. Jet formation techniques based on either a perforated plate or bursting membrane subjected to the impact of a stable detonation wave were utilized. Critical conditions of detonation initiation in hydrogen–air and hydrogen–oxygen–nitrogen mixtures have been found to depend on both the mixture sensitivity and the geometrical parameters of the arrangement. The capability of implementing a complete Bayesian analysis of experimental data has emerged over recent years due to computational advances developed within the statistical community. The objective of this paper is to provide a practical exposition of these methods in the illustrative context of a financial event study. The customary assumption of Gaussian errors underlying development of the model is later supplemented by considering Student-t errors, thus permitting a Bayesian sensitivity analysis. The supplied data analysis illustrates the advantages of the sampling-based Bayesian approach in allowing investigation of quantities beyond the scope of classical methods.  相似文献

Consonant recognition in quiet and in noise was investigated as a function of age for essentially normal hearing listeners 21-68 years old, using the nonsense syllable test (NST) [Resnick et al., J. Acoust. Soc. Am. Suppl. 1 58, S114 (1975)]. The subjects audited the materials in quiet and at S/N ratios of +10 and +5 dB at their most comfortable listening levels (MCLs). The MCLs approximated conversational speech levels and were not significantly different between the age groups. The effects of age group, S/N condition (quiet, S/N +10, S/N +5) and NST subsets, and the S/N condition X subset interaction were all significant. Interactions involving the age factor were nonsignificant. Confusion matrices were similar across age groups, including the directions of errors between the most frequently confused phonemes. Also, the older subjects experienced performance decrements on the same features that were least accurately recognized by the younger subjects. The findings suggest that essentially normal older persons listening in quiet and in noise experience decreased consonant recognition ability, but that the nature of their phoneme confusions is similar to that of younger individuals. Even though the older subjects met the same selection criteria as did younger ones, there was an expected shift upward in auditory thresholds with age within these limits. Sensitivity at 8000 Hz was correlated with NST scores in noise when controlling for age, but the correlation between performance in noise and age was nonsignificant when controlling for the 8000-Hz threshold. These associations seem to implicate the phenomena underlying the increased 8000-Hz thresholds in the speech recognition problems of the elderly, and appear to support the concept of peripheral auditory deterioration with aging even among those with essentially normal hearing.  相似文献
