The interaction between gas bubbles and ultrasound in water leads to acoustic cavitation under specific experimental conditions. Acoustic cavitation has been used in a number of areas, these include therapeutic applications, contrast imaging, synthesis of nanomaterials, production of nanoemulsions, treatment of food materials, waste-water treatment, etc. In all these applications, a variety of chemical species are present and most of these chemicals are surface active in nature. There is limited literature available on the effect of surface active solutes on acoustic bubbles. The current review aims to provide a consolidated overview of the recent experimental investigations on the effect of surface active solutes on cavitation bubbles and the relevance of these studies to some applications, including sonochemistry. 相似文献

The densities and heat capacities of solutions of phosphoric acid, 0.05 to 1 mol kg-1, were measured using flow vibrating tube densitometry and differential Picker-type calorimetry at temperatures up to 623 K and at pressures up to 28 MPa. The standard molar volumes and heat capacities of molecular H3PO4(aq) were obtained, via the apparent molar properties corrected for partial dissociation, by extrapolation to infinite dilution. The data on standard derivative properties were correlated simultaneously with the dissociation constants of phosphoric acid from the literature using the theoretically founded SOCW model. This made it possible to describe the standard thermodynamic properties, particularly the standard chemical potential, of both molecular and ionized phosphoric acid at temperatures up to at least 623 K and at pressures up to 200 MPa. This representation allows one to easily calculate the first-degree dissociation constant of H3PO4(aq). The performance of the SOCW model was compared with the other approaches for calculating the high-temperature dissociation constant of the phosphoric acid. Using the standard derivative properties, sensitively reflecting the interactions between the solute and the solvent, the high-temperature behavior of H3PO4(aq) is compared with that of other weak acids. 相似文献

Whole genome amplification (wga) of DNA is being widely implemented in many laboratories to extend the life of samples only available in limited quantities for genetic analysis. We determined the reliability of wgaDNA genotypes in three sets of replicates from the same individuals: (i) 23 pairs of genomic DNA (gDNA), (ii) 43 pairs gDNA versus wgaDNA, and (iii) 29 pairs of independently amplified wgaDNA. Amplification was performed using multiple displacement amplification (MDA). Genotyping was successful for both DNA types for 1268 out of 1534 SNPs from 164 cardiovascular candidate genes assayed in a single Illumina panel. Amplified DNA failed for 77 SNPs (6%) that were genotyped successfully with genomic material. Percent of successful SNP calls, and concordance between pairs and kappa statistics (kappa) were determined. A total of 54 110 genotypes from gDNA-wgaDNA pairs were available for concordance analysis. Mean kappa for gDNA-wgaDNA pairs was 0.99. Concordance between gDNA-wgaDNA pairs was higher than amongst wgaDNA pairs (mean kappa for the 29 independently amplified pairs of wgaDNA was 0.95; interquartile range: 0.93-1.00). A statistical analysis of those SNPs which failed to genotype from amplified DNA only revealed that those loci were more likely to be closer to the telomeres and in locally GC-rich sequences. In summary, the MDA method produces wgaDNA samples that can be genotyped using high-throughput technology with a very high reproducibility to the original DNA but with slightly lower call rates. DNA amplification methodologies provide a useful solution for current and future large-scale genetic analyses especially with limited quantities of samples and DNA. 相似文献

We report the aqueous solubilities of phenanthrene and several solid three-ring aromatic heterocycles (phenanthridine, acridine, phenazine, thianthrene, phenothiazine, phenoxathiin, phenoxazine, carbazole, dibenzofuran, dibenzothiophene, and 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene) at temperatures ranging from 313K to the solute melting point and at a pressure of 5MPa. The data were measured by dynamic saturation method using an in-house-assembled apparatus for pressurized hot water extraction (PHWE). The solute from a known mass of the saturated aqueous solution was transferred to an organic solvent (hexane or toluene), and the organic phase was analyzed by GC/MS. In any of the solutes, the GC/MS records did not indicate any noticeable decomposition within the temperature range of the measurements. The resultant solubilities were converted to activity coefficients of the individual solutes in saturated aqueous solutions, and the results are discussed in terms of temperature and type/number of heteroatoms. 相似文献

Two lichens and 12 green plants growing at a former arsenic roasting facility in Austria were analyzed for total arsenic by ICP–MS, and for 12 arsenic compounds (arsenous acid, arsenic acid, dimethylarsinic acid, methylarsonic acid, arsenobetaine, arsenocholine, trimethylarsine oxide, the tetramethylarsonium cation and four arsenoriboses) by HPLC–ICP–MS. Total arsenic concentrations were in the range of 0.27 mg As (kg dry mass)−1 (Vaccinium vitis idaea) to 8.45 mg As (kg dry mass)−1 (Equisetum pratense). Arsenic compounds were extracted with two different extractants [water or methanol/water (9:1)]. Extraction yields achieved with water [7% (Alectoria ochroleuca) to 71% (Equisetum pratense)] were higher than those with methanol/water (9:1) [4% (Alectoria ochroleuca) to 22% (Deschampsia cespitosa)]. The differences were caused mainly by better extraction of inorganic arsenic (green plants) and an arsenoribose (lichens) by water. Inorganic arsenic was detected in all extracts. Dimethylarsinic acid was identified in nine green plants. One of the lichens (Alectoria ochroleuca) contained traces of methylarsonic acid, and this compound was also detected in nine of the green plants. Arsenobetaine was a major arsenic compound in extracts of the lichens, but except for traces in the grass Deschampsia cespitosa, it was not detected in the green plants. In contrast to arsenobetaine, trimethylarsine oxide was found in all samples. The tetramethylarsonium cation was identified in the lichen Alectoria ochroleuca and in four green plants. With the exception of the needles of the tree Larix decidua the arsenoribose (2′R)‐dimethyl[1‐O‐(2′,3′‐dihydroxypropyl)‐5‐deoxy‐β‐D ‐ribofuranos‐5‐yl]arsine oxide was identified at the low μg kg−1 level or as a trace in all plants investigated. In the lichens an unknown arsenic compound, which did not match any of the standard compounds available, was also detected.
