Doublet states species trapped in crystalline solids show transient spin polarized EPR spectra if the crystal is illuminated by visible or UV light. The spin polarization is accounted for by the interaction of the doublet species with photoexcited triplet states. The mechanism of the process producing the spin polarization is examined and some experimental examples are discussed. The analysis of the time evolution of the transient variation of the EPR signal allows the measurements of the spin lattice relaxation time and in some cases of the diffusion rate of mobile triplet excitations in the crystal lattice. 相似文献

Terpyridine ligands of the type Fc'-X-tpy (Fc'=ferrocenyl or octamethylferrocenyl, X=rigid spacer, tpy'=4'-substituted 2,2':6',2'-terpyridine) were prepared, crystallographically characterised and used for the synthesis of di- and trinuclear bis(terpyridine) complexes of RuII, FeII and ZnII. Donor-sensitiser dyads and triads based on RuII were thoroughly investigated by (spectro)electrochemistry, UV/Vis, transient absorption and luminescence spectroscopy, and an energy level scheme was derived on the basis of the data collected. Intramolecular quenching of the photoexcited RuII complexes by the redox-active Fc' groups can occur reductively and by energy transfer. Both the redox potential of the donor Fc' and the nature of the spacer X have a decisive influence on excited-state lifetimes and emission properties of the complexes. Some of the compounds show room-temperature luminescence, which is unprecedented for ferrocenyl-functionalised compounds of this kind. 相似文献

Polyethylene (PE) composites with titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were produced via in situ polymerization representing a novel route to obtain antimicrobial polymeric materials. The TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by the sol–gel method were used either as‐synthesized or modified organically with hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (Mod‐TiO2). These particles were added, together with the catalytic system (formed by a metallocenic catalyst and methylaluminoxane as cocatalyst), directly to the reactor, yielding in situ PE composites with 2 and 8 wt % content of nanofiller. The catalytic polymerization activity presented a slight decrease with the incorporation of the TiO2 and Mod‐TiO2 nanoparticles compared to polymerization without filler. Regarding the properties of the composites, crystallinity increased slightly when the different nanofillers were added, and the elastic modulus increased around 15% compared to neat PE. PE/TiO2 nanocomposites containing 8 wt % of TiO2 exposed to UVA irradiations presented antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli. Herein, we present a novel method based on the use of the symmetrical T4 bacteriophage capsid as a scaffold for preparing the gold-coated iron ternary core/shell nanostructure. Results showed that the thick gold shell was obtained to effectively protect Fe core from oxidation. Magnetic measurements showed that the nanocomposites were superparamagnetic at room temperature with a blocking temperature of about 35?K. At 3?K, its coercivity of 1142.86 Oe was larger than the existing experimental values. The magnetic property of Au/T4 was also tested, demonstrating the source of the magnetic sample arising from the Fe core only. The absorption spectrum of the Fe@Au/T4 complex was measured and compared with gold/virus. Different thickness gold shells were controlled in the synthesis by tuning the Au salt addition. On the basis of results and discussion, we further speculated the general growing mechanism of the template-supported Fe@Au process. 相似文献

The thermal behaviour of 21 proteinaceous l-amino acids either as pristine samples and also as radiolyzed (3.2 MGy) samples was studied with the differential scanning calorimeter. The onset and peak melting point as well as the melting enthalpy of all samples before and after the radiation treatment was measured and reported. The residual amount of each amino acid survived to the radiation dose of 3.2 MGy (N γ) was measured from the melting enthalpies before and after radiolysis and hence the radiation resistance of each amino acid has been determined. The radiolysis causes a systematic reduction of the melting enthalpy and a shift of the onset and peak melting point to lower values. It is shown that N γ does not correlate with the melting points of the amino acids but shows a correlation with the entity of the shift of the melting point peaks occurred after radiolysis. Such correlation instead does not exist between the N γ parameter and the onset melting points of the amino acids. An explanation of such lack of correlation was given. Furthermore, a general relationship has been found between the amino acids melting point peak measured on pristine samples and the melting point peaks after solid state radiolysis. Such relationship can be used to predict roughly the expected melting point after radiolysis at 3.2 MGy of any given amino acid. The last part of the study was dedicated in the attempt to find a correlation between the N γ parameter and the amount of the amino acids survived the radiolysis R γ as measured by spectropolarimetry (ORD spectroscopy). A general trend was found in the connection between the N γ and R γ parameters but not a very strong correlation. 相似文献

We generalize the classical Frobenius Theorem to distributions that are spanned by locally Lipschitz vector fields. The various versions of the involutivity conditions are extended by means of set-valued Lie derivatives—in particular, set-valued Lie brackets—and set-valued exterior derivatives.
