CuI/glycerol mediated stereoselective synthesis of 1,2-bis-chalcogen alkenes from terminal alkynes: synthesis of new antioxidants

(E)-1,2-Bis-chalcogen alkenes were stereoselectively prepared in good yields by the addition of diorganyl dichalcogenides to terminal alkynes using CuI/Zn/glycerol as a recyclable catalytic system. The antioxidant activity in vitro of four (E)-1,2-bis-chalcogen alkenes synthesized was evaluated and (E)-1,2-bis-(4-methoxyphenylselanyl)styrene 3b presented excellent activity. The catalytic system used in the synthesis was recovered and used directly up to 5 cycles without loss of activity.

Oxidation studies of hydrogenated amorphous silicon

Hydrogenated amorphous silicon surfaces, atomically clean and subsequently oxidized to up to 20 Å oxide thickness, were studied using AES and UPS. The oxidation was made in O₂ in the pressure range 10^?9 Torr to 5 atm and at 23 and 300°C. The oxidation rate at 23°C was found to be the same as that of crystalline silicon while at 300°C it was appreciably faster. Changes in the d $\text{N(E)}\text{dE}$ AES Si LVV line shape near 80 eV upon oxidation could be correlated to changes in the silicon-oxygen bonding level observed in UPS. The detailed line shape of the AES Si LVV transition indicates that at 300°C a more homogeneous oxide is produced than at 23°C.     

Influence of the slow wave on the relation between the angular resonances and the leaky guided modes properties for a poroelastic plate embedded in water

A numerical study of the guided modes in a water-saturated poroelastic plate that obeys the Biot theory is presented. In the first part, we study the leaky guided modes and the angular resonances when the slow wave does not propagate. Two types of guided modes exist. The first ones occur from coupling of the fast longitudinal wave with the shear wave; most of them propagate whatever the frequency is, provided that it is not close to their cut-off frequencies. The leaky guided modes of the second type occur from coupling of the two longitudinal waves and the shear wave. These modes do not propagate (they are highly damped) as long as the slow wave remains diffusive. We show that the characteristics of the angular resonances can be linked to the leaky guided waves of the first type in the same way as for an elastic plate. The guided modes of the second type may not be associated to angular resonances. In the second part, we consider a thinner plate in a higher frequency range so that the slow wave can propagate. Once again its influence is studied both on the leaky guided modes and on the angular resonances.     

Complete assignment of NMR data of 22 phenyl‐1H‐pyrazoles' derivatives

Complete assignment of ¹H and ¹³C NMR chemical shifts and J(¹H/¹H and ¹H/¹⁹F) coupling constants for 22 1‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazoles' derivates were performed using the concerted application of ¹H 1D and ¹H, ¹³C 2D gs‐HSQC and gs‐HMBC experiments. All 1‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazoles' derivatives were synthesized as described by Finar and co‐workers. The formylated 1‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazoles' derivatives were performed under Duff's conditions. Thermo gravimetric analysis of supramolecular complexes of p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene and ammonium cations: crystal structure of diethylammonium complex

Thermo gravimetric analysis of ammonium-p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene salts were carried out to determine the stoichiometry of the inclusion compounds and the temperature of leaving of the ammonium cation, as amine, from the solid phase by a reverse proton transfer reaction to calixarene. The chain length of the amine molecules and their relative basicity order are the main factors which determine the decomplexation temperatures for the ammonium salts of piperidinium, diethylammonium, ethylenediammonium, morpholinium, s-butylammonium, butylammonium, hexylammonium and triethylammonium salts of p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene anion. The solid state structure of bis-diethylammonium-p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene dianion is reported. The calix moiety adopts a 1,2,3 alternate conformation, with one ammonium as exo-calix and other as endo-calix, with an intricate array of hydrogen bonds between phenol, phenolate and ammonium cations.

Enantioselective hydrogenation of indoles derivatives catalyzed by Walphos/rhodium complexes

The enantioselective hydrogenation of indole esters has been carried out efficiently in the presence of a rhodium catalyst modified by Walphos-type chiral ligands. The addition of a base can be beneficial in some catalytic conditions.
