Well-crystallized hematite was suspended in water and treated at room-temperature (RT) with sodium borohydride. The product of the reaction is a highly magnetic black powder, which is stable at RT. The NaBH4 treatment converts about half of the hematite to an amorphous Fe–B alloy and to a small fraction of sub-micron sized, amorphous metallic-Fe nodules. Heating at 400°C of this composite has resulted in the crystallization and/or oxidation of more than half of the amorphous Fe–B phase to α-Fe and Fe3O4 and B2O3, respectively. After treatment at 800°C, the metallic Fe and the amorphous Fe–B have completely vanished, and the resulting product consists of hematite and FeBO3 embedded in the matrix of α-Fe2O3.  相似文献

ILEEMS is the acronym for Integral Low-energy Electron Mössbauer Spectroscopy. In this variant of Mössbauer spectroscopy the low-energy electrons, E < ~15 eV, emitted by the probe nuclei in the absorber are counted as a function of source velocity. As a consequence of their low energy, the detected electrons' origin lies within a very thin surface layer with thickness of a few nanometers and consequently, ILEEMS is a useful technique to examine surfaces of Fe-containing substances. In a first part of this paper the authors briefly describe the design of a home-made ILEEMS equipment allowing the temperature of the investigated sample to be varied between 77 K and room temperature. The second part of this contribution deals with a selection of results obtained from ILEEMS spectra for various Fe oxides. In particular, the following items are covered: (1) surface versus bulk Morin transition in small-particle and near-bulk hematite, α-Fe2O3; (2) bulk and thin-film magnetite, Fe3O4; (3) ferrihydrite, 5Fe2O3·9H20, goethite, α-FeOOH, and lepidocrocite, γ-FeOOH, all to some extent in relation to their morphology. Interesting and intriguing findings concerning the surface properties of these oxides were obtained and it is argued that the results encourage more systematic research in this and related fields using the surface-sensitive ILEEMS technique.  相似文献

Symmetry considerations and a direct, Hubbard-Stratonovich type, derivation are used to construct a replica field-theory relevant to the study of the spin glass transition of short range models in a magnetic field. A mean-field treatment reveals that two different types of transitions exist, whenever the replica number n is kept larger than zero. The Sherrington-Kirkpatrick critical point in zero magnetic field between the paramagnet and replica magnet (a replica symmetric phase with a nonzero spin glass order parameter) separates from the de Almeida-Thouless line, along which replica symmetry breaking occurs. We argue that for studying the de Almeida-Thouless transition around the upper critical dimension d = 6, it is necessary to use the generic cubic model with all the three bare masses and eight cubic couplings. The critical role n may play is also emphasized. To make perturbative calculations feasible, a new representation of the cubic interaction is introduced. To illustrate the method, we compute the masses in one-loop order. Some technical details and a list of vertex rules are presented to help future renormalisation-group calculations. Second-harmonic generation (SHG)-based nonlinear optical microscopy is used for spatially resolved imaging of the polarization switching in lead zirconium titanate ferroelectric thin films. The local SHG hysteresis loops reveal a strong dependence on film composition and structure. The SHG microscopy results are in good agreement with the efficiency of electrostatic force microscopy writing and allow us to predict the microscopic dielectric memory efficiency, both in contact and contact-less ways. We study a boundary version of the gauged WZW model with a Poisson–Lie group G as the target. The Poisson–Lie structure of G is used to define the Wess–Zumino term of the action on surfaces with boundary. We clarify the relation of the model to the topological Poisson sigma model with the dual Poisson–Lie group G * as the target and show that the phase space of the theory on a strip is essentially the Heisenberg double of G introduced by Semenov–Tian–Shansky.  相似文献

We study the propagation of the light mesons σ,ω,ρ, and a0(980) in dense hadronic matter in an extended derivative scalar coupling model. Within the scheme proposed it is possible to unambiguously define effective density-dependent couplings at the Lagrangian level. We first apply the model to study asymmetric nuclear matter with fixed isospin asymmetry, and then we pay particular attention to hypermatter in β-equilibrium. The equation of state and the potential contribution to the symmetry coefficient arising from the mean-field approximation are investigated. The vibrational behaviour of the Langevin transducer is usually analysed using 1D Mason model which is valid when the lateral dimensions of the transducer are smaller than a quarter wavelength at the fundamental longitudinal resonance. In this work a 3D finite element analysis of the Langevin transducer's behaviour operating in the underwater sonar range of frequencies (30-140 kHz) is presented. Several samples with total length greater, comparable to, and smaller than the diameter of the transducer are analysed. For each sample, the resonance frequencies in the observed frequency range are computed and compared with those obtained experimentally from the measurements carried out using several in-house built prototypes. For the most important aspect ratios the resonance displacement distributions are presented and discussed. The results obtained permit to gain insight into the coupling phenomenon between thickness-extensional and radial modes and suggest that in practical applications transducers with diameters comparable to or greater than total length of the active stack can also be used. The trade-off between the efficiency and power handling ability for different designs is also discussed.  相似文献
