Imidazoles have for some time been recognized as curing agents for epoxy resins. Once the resin and the imidazole compound are mixed there is a relatively short time in which the mixture can be used, since the polymerization (curing) reaction occurs to some extent even at room temperature causing the reaction mixture to thicken. In order to circumvent this problem we have found that imidazoles can be complexed with organo-lanthanide compounds thereby tying up the imidazole and retarding its rate of reaction in the cure of epoxy materials at ambient temperatures. When it is desired to enhance the rate of cure the temperature of the mixture is simply raised. This paper concerns studies of the epoxy cure reaction with the M(THD)3–IM series. M represents the lanthanide metals Eu, Ho, Pr, Dy, Yb, and Gd, and THD is 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione. Cure reactions were followed by differential scanning calorimetry and in some cases by infrared spectroscopy. We have demonstrated that these organo-lanthanide–imidazole complexes are effective thermally latent curing agents for epoxy resins. At a temperature of 150°C cure is quite rapid. In the course of these studies it has also been determined that there is an inverse correlation between the lanthanide ionic radius in the complex and the temperature at which the cure reaction occurs. Thus the Yb compound, where the imidazole is most strongly bound, cures at the highest temperature and Pr, where imidazole is bound most weakly, at the lowest. Consistent with these facts is the observation that the Yb compound also gives the longest latency period when mixed with epoxy resin.  相似文献

A new strain of the fungusMorchella nov. ES-1 (ATCC 20951) that produces blue pigment in submerged culture has been isolated. The blue pigment was extracted by chloroform or ethyl acetate treatment. The crude extract when chromatographed yielded three fractions; a blue one has been identified by mass spectrometry as indigotin. Fermentation studies using enriched media revealed that maximum accumulation of indigotin in culture was approx 24 mg/L in 168 h.  相似文献

The bioactive content, antioxidant properties, and enzyme inhibition properties of extracts of Alcea fasciculiflora from Turkey prepared with different solvents (water, methanol, ethyl acetate) and extraction methods (maceration, soxhlet, homogenizer assisted extraction, and ultrasound assisted extraction) were examined in this study. UHPLC-HRMS analysis detected or annotated a total of 50 compounds in A. fasciculiflora extracts, including 18 hydroxybenzoic and hydroxycinnamic acids, 7 Hexaric acids, 7 Coumarins, 15 Flavonoids, and 3 hydroxycinnamic acid amides. The extracts had phenolic and flavonoid levels ranging from 14.25 to 24.87 mg GAE/g and 1.68 to 25.26 mg RE/g, respectively, in the analysis. Both DPPH and ABTS tests revealed radical scavenging capabilities (between 2.63 and 35.33 mg TE/g and between 13.46 and 76.27 mg TE/g, respectively). The extracts had reducing properties (CUPRAC: 40.38–78 TE/g and FRAP: 17.51–42.58 TE/g). The extracts showed metal chelating activity (18.28–46.71 mg EDTAE/g) as well as total antioxidant capacity (phosphomolybdenum test) (0.90–2.12 mmol TE/g). DPPH, ABTS, FRAP, and metal chelating tests indicated the water extracts to be the best antioxidants, while the ethyl acetate extracts had the highest overall antioxidant capacity regardless of the extraction technique. Furthermore, anti-acetylcholinesterase activity was identified in all extracts (0.17–2.80 mg GALAE/g). The water extracts and the ultrasound-assisted ethyl acetate extract were inert against butyrylcholinesterase, but the other extracts showed anti-butyrylcholinesterase activity (1.17–5.80 mg GALAE/g). Tyrosine inhibitory action was identified in all extracts (1.79–58.93 mg KAE/g), with the most effective methanolic extracts. Only the ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts produced by maceration and homogenizer aided extraction showed glucosidase inhibition (0.11–1.11 mmol ACAE/g). These findings showed the overall bioactivity of the different extracts of A. fasciculiflora and provided an overview of the combination of solvent type and extraction method that could yield bioactive profile and pharmacological properties of interest and hence, could be a useful reference for future studies on this species.  相似文献

We report on the results of investigation of a plasma switch with complete grid control in a discharge with a cathode spot on the liquid-metal cesium cathode without grid diaphragming. The retention of the working area of the grid relative to the anode area leads to an order-of-magnitude increase in the switching anode current (up to 20 A/cm2 over the anode area) and a substantial (up to 100 V and higher) increase in the switching voltages. The use of the cathode jet makes it possible to reduce the working pressures of cesium vapor (down to 10–3 Torr). We discuss the results of analysis of peculiarities of grid discharge quenching in such a switch, which make it possible to determine possible reasons for limitation of the working parameters of the switch and the ways of their further increase.  相似文献

A novel method for fabricating micrometer sized gel patterns is described. The presented method involves spin-coating a pre-gel solution on a surface that was chemically treated to modulate its surface energy, creating highly hydrophobic areas on a hydrophilic substrate. Following spin-coating, the gel solution self organizes on the hydrophilic sites. This method offers the advantages of high resolution, self-alignment to pre-patterned electrodes, and a simple straightforward fabrication process. Minimum feature size achieved was approximately 20 μm. The characteristic shrinking and swelling times of gel patterns were measured and found to be around 0.6 s for swelling and 2 s for shrinking (for a 60 μm diameter gel) in agreement with the reduced response time expected for scaled down gel patterns. These results suggest the suitability of these gel patterns as valves or actuators in microfluidic devices. Micron-size gel patterns were also incorporated into microfluidic channels thus demonstrating a new approach to create simple, affordable, microfluidic devices, which incorporate “smart” hydrogels as building elements in a simple fashion.  相似文献
