Codimension one symplectic foliations and regular Poisson structures

In this short note we give a complete characterization of a certain class of compact corank one Poisson manifolds, those equipped with a closed one-form defining the symplectic foliation and a closed two-form extending the symplectic form on each leaf. If such a manifold has a compact leaf, then all the leaves are compact, and furthermore the manifold is a mapping torus of a compact leaf. These manifolds and their regular Poisson structures admit an extension as the critical hypersurface of a b-Poisson manifold as we will see in [9].

Furanoside phosphite–phosphoroamidite and diphosphoroamidite ligands for Cu-catalyzed asymmetric 1,4-addition reactions

A sugar-based phosphite–phosphoroamidite and diphosphoroamidite ligand library L1–L5a–g was tested in the asymmetric Cu-catalyzed 1,4-conjugate addition reactions of β-substituted and β,β′-disubstituted enones. Our results indicated that the selectivity was strongly dependent on the ligand parameters and on the substrate structure. Moderate-to-good enantioselectivities (ees up to 84%) were obtained in the 1,4-addition of several types of β-substituted cyclic and linear substrates. Of particular note is the high enantioselectivity (ees up to 90%) obtained for the more challenging β,β′-disubstituted 3-methyl-cyclohexenone.

On the connected component of compact composition operators on the Hardy space

We show that there exist non-compact composition operators in the connected component of the compact ones on the classical Hardy space H². This answers a question posed by Shapiro and Sundberg in 1990. We also establish an improved version of a theorem of MacCluer, giving a lower bound for the essential norm of a difference of composition operators in terms of the angular derivatives of their symbols. As a main tool we use Aleksandrov-Clark measures.
